Various extraction procedures were employed for measuring extractable concentrations of potential toxic elements in soil. The extractability of Cd, Cu, Pb and Zn in four contaminated and four non-contaminated soils of Japan, was compared by single extraction (CaCl2, DTPA, NH4Cl, 0.1 M HCl and 1 M HCl ) and sequential extraction procedures [(six operationally defined chemical phases, viz. water soluble (Fl), exchangeable (F2), carbonate (F3), oxide (F4), organic (F5) and residual (F6) fractions)]. Extractability of metals from soils samples varied depending on metals and/or extradants used. Among the extradants, 1 M HCl extracted the largest proportion of Cd (79 to 96% of total), Cu (61 to 83%), Pb (51 to 99%) and Zn (23 to 52%) from soils followed by 0.1 M HCl, NH4Cl, DTPA and CaCl2. In all the extradants, the proportion of extractability of metals was higher in the contaminated soils than the non-contaminated soils. Regardless of soils and extradants, relative extractability was higher for Cd as compared to other three metals. The use of 1 M HCl may be recommended for first-level screening of soil contamination with heavy metals. The other four weak extradants are believed to provide a better assessment of bioavailable/mobile metals content in soils than 1 M HCl extradant. However, 0.1 M HCl mobilized all four metals irrespective of soil types, therefore, might be the best choice if only one extradant is to be used. The sequential extraction procedures showed 22 to 64% of total Cd was in the mobile fraction (sum of Fl to F3), while the corresponding values for Cu, Pb and Zn in this fractions were 2 to 23% suggesting higher mobility of Cd than other three metals. The single extraction procedures are simple and easy to perform and obtained results are comparable with sequential extraction procedure.  相似文献

The Woodroffe thrust, central Australia, is a > 1.5-km-wide mylonitized shear zone marked by large volumes of mm- to cm-scale pseudotachylyte veins. The pseudotachylytes display typical melt-origin features, including rounded and embayed clasts, spherulitic and dentritic microlites, and flow structures within a fine-grained matrix. Three types of pseudotachylyte are identified on the basis of deformation texture, vein morphology, and host-rock lithology: cataclasite-related (C-Pt), mylonite-related (M-Pt), and ultramylonite-related (Um-Pt). The M-Pt and Um-Pt veins intrude into mylonite and ultramylonite and are themselves overprinted by subsequent mylonitization. These pseudotachylytes contain an internal foliation defined by flattened porphyroclasts and layering of the fine-grained vein matrix, and the foliation is generally oriented parallel to foliation in the surrounding mylonite and ultramylonite. These observations constrain the timing and environment of M-Pt and Um-Pt pseudotachylyte formation to a protracted period of deformation and mylonitization within the ductile regime of the crust. The M-Pt and Um-Pt veins, as well as the host mylonite, are overprinted by cataclasis and multiple generations of late-stage C-Pt veins that were generated in the brittle-dominated regime of the upper crust during uplift and exhumation of the shear zone.The coexistence of multiple generations of voluminous C-Pt, M-Pt, and Um-Pt veins indicates that the pseudotachylyte veins represent a large number of large earthquakes and accompanying seismic slip over an extended period of seismicity on the Woodroffe thrust. The timing and distribution of pseudotachylyte indicate that the earthquakes nucleated at the base of the brittle-dominated seismogenic zone and propagated down through the brittle–ductile transition into the ductile-dominated regime of the crust.  相似文献

A technique for density measurement under high pressure and high temperature was developed using the X-ray absorption imaging method combined with an externally heated diamond anvil cell. The densities of solid and liquid In were measured in the pressure and temperature ranges of 3.2–18.6 GPa and 294–719 K. The densities obtained through the X-ray absorption imaging method were in good agreement (less than 2.0% difference) with those obtained through X-ray diffraction. Based on the measured density, the isothermal bulk modulus of solid In is determined as 48.0 ± 1.1?40.9 ± 0.8 GPa at 500 K, assuming K′ = 4 to 6. The compression curve of liquid In approaches that of solid In at higher pressures and does not cross over the solid compression curve in the measurement range. The present technique enables us to determine the densities of both solids and liquids precisely in a wide pressure and temperature range.  相似文献

Tsunami deposits in Kyushu Island, Southwestern Japan, have been attributed to the 7.3 ka Kikai caldera eruption, but their origin has not been confirmed. We analyzed an 83-cm-thick Holocene event deposit in the SKM core, obtained from incised valley fill in the coastal lowlands near Sukumo Bay, Southwestern Shikoku Island. We confirmed that the event deposit contains K-Ah volcanic ash from the 7.3 ka eruption. The base of the event deposit erodes the underlying inner-bay mud, and the deposit contains material from outside the local terrestrial and marine environment, including angular quartz porphyry from a small inland exposure, oyster shell debris, and a coral fragment. Benthic foraminifers and ostracods in the deposit indicate various habitats, some of which are outside Sukumo Bay. The sand matrix contains low-silica volcanic glass from the late stage of the Kikai caldera eruption. We also documented the same glass in an event deposit in the MIK1 core, from the incised Oyodo River valley in the Miyazaki Plain on Southeastern Kyushu. These two 7.3 ka tsunami deposits join other documented examples that are widely distributed in Southwestern Japan including the Bungo Channel and Beppu Bay in Eastern Kyushu, Tachibana Bay in Western Kyushu, and Zasa Pond on the Kii Peninsula as well as around the caldera itself. The tsunami deposits near the caldera have been divided into older and younger 7.3 ka tsunami deposits, the younger ones matching the set of widespread deposits. We attribute the younger 7.3 ka tsunami deposits to a large tsunami generated by a great interplate earthquake in the Northern part of the Ryukyu Trench and (or) the Western Nankai Trough just after the late stage of the Kikai caldera eruption and the older 7.3 ka tsunami deposits to a small tsunami generated by an interplate earthquake or Kikai caldera eruption.  相似文献

The center-to-limb variation of the excess intensity in faculae was obtained for 266 active regions with an accuracy of 10–3. For this observation full-disk images were obtained with a rotating one-dimensional diode array whose rotation axis was set at the disk center, at the wavelength of 5450 Å with a bandpass of 400 Å. From the center-to-limb variation of excess intensity of active regions the excess effective temperature was found to be 6.4 K on the average where the mean longitudinal magnetic field is 65 G as measured by 5233 Å line. In other words the ratio of the excess radiative flux to the total flux was 0.44% on the average for the present measurements of low spatial resolution of 20.The average excess intensity for 60 active regions near the disk center was found to be 4 × 10–4 of the quiet Sun intensity. This very low excess brightness averaged over the whole active region, in contrast to the reported high excess brightness of facular points (diameter 0.2) of 0.4, leads to a hypothesis that the background in between facular points in the active region is darker than the true quiet photosphere by 1%. It is further surmised that the inferred darkness of intra facular points is due to partial compensation for excess total irradiance of facular points. This interpretation is also consistent with previous observations of the contrast of facular points near the limb.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to develop a theoretical framework to predict the macroscopic transversely isotropic elastoplastic behavior of clay‐like material, which is viewed as a porous polycrystal. We consider evolutions of two local plastic mechanisms of grains and interface simultaneously, for which a Schmid criterion is used for the strength of sheet‐like grains and a Tresca criterion for the strength of interfaces between particles. By adapting the standard incremental method, we propose firstly a classic self‐consistent model, which does not consider the effect of interface, then a generalized self‐consistent model in which the solid phase is represented by laminated (or isotropic) spherical grains surrounded by interfaces. Comparisons of numerical predictions between these two methods are performed and have demonstrated the validity of the generalized self‐consistent model taking account of interface effects. Numerical simulations of uniaxial compression tests have shown that the macroscopic elastoplastic behavior of polycrystalline (clay‐like) material can be successfully predicted by the way of considering the two local plastic mechanisms at microscopic scale. A simple generalization of Wisdom's perturbative method, as originally proposed by Wisdom (1985), is obtained. Any number of resonant cosines can be handled and the method can also accommodate more involved disturbing functions. Averaged trajectories are easily obtained by drawing level curves of the action. Here, the method is first tested for simple models of 3:1 and 2:1 resonant problems. Comparisons with numerical integration and surface-section curves show very good agreements.  相似文献

Large-eddy simulation (LES) of turbulent convection is discussed in various versions (mixing-length theory, modal theory and spectral theory) in respect to the application to stellar convective zones. For the model construction, the non-local mixing-length formalism is suitable. However, for the determination of basic flow patterns and of mixing-length, the quasi-linear and nonlinear modal theories are useful. The eddy diffusivities are essential in these theories, and the nonlinear treatment of convection consistent with turbulent diffusivities (of effective Reynolds number of about 20 and Prandtl number of 0.4) offers a simple method of constructing stellar models without the use of the mixing-length.Paper presented at the IAU Third Asian-Pacific Regional Meeting, held in Kyoto, Japan, between 30 September–6 October, 1984.  相似文献

The simplest model of a resonant problem of second order is the planar and circular case. Simplification like this is very old and for 3/1 resonance, several authors have studied this problem with different purposes. In this work, we test this model for the available asteroids, by applying Hori's perturbation method. Explicit solutions of the intermediate orbit are obtained. In the plane of two constants of the problem, all types of motion are described. By testing the model, it is shown that, in general, one can confirm results of numerical integrations indicating libration for a few number of asteroids and circulation for most of them. However, agreement in numerical values for amplitude and period of librations seems to be not possible mainly if Jupiter's eccentricity is neglected. On the other hand, even though there might be some physical reasons determining that only asteroids with high eccentricity may librate, it is shown that, from mathematical point of view, libration may occur even in the case of small eccentricities provided that some relations are satisfied.  相似文献
