 Calculations of the Rigid Unit Modes (RUMs) allowed in the nepheline structure are used to explain the diffuse scattering previously seen in electron diffraction experiments. The RUM calculations also show that the modulation wavelength for incommensurate nephelines is essentially determined by the framework topology. X-ray diffraction is used to measure the intensity of the diffuse scattering as a function of temperature. The diffuse intensity increases sharply at 308 K. This effect is interpreted as being due to the softening of a phonon mode, indicating a phase transition. The mantle metasomatites (fluidized magmatic rocks) of the Pamir-Tien Shan region show extremely high contents of lithophile and chalcophile trace elements, which often exceeds the regional average abundances of the Earth’s crust. Geochemical relations were established between mantle and crustal rocks, and it was shown that the compositions of magmatic rocks of different age and formation depth and polychronous mineralization are relatively stable. These data and some other facts indicate the possible influence of mantle fluids (melts) on the crustal rocks and processes. An alternative model implies the geochemical influence of crustal rocks on the geochemical characteristics of the regional mantle. The ore material of alkali basic rocks and some hydrothermal and rare metal deposits shows a geochemical affinity to the supposed mantle (mantle-crustal) sources. The ore-bearing fluids (melts) were presumably related to the evolution of ultradeep “hot” material of mantle plumes and “daughter” diapirs carrying alkaline, trace, and ore elements.  相似文献

This paper reports the results of an investigation of the geochemical and isotopic compositions of rocks formed during the Eocene suprasubduction magmatism in the Olyutorsky tectonic block. The contribution of various suprasubduction components to the formation of magmatic melts was estimated; the characteristics of the Eocene and Miocene-Quaternary suprasubduction magmatism of the Olyutorsky tectonic block were compared; and relations of the Cenozoic magmatism to the tectonic development of the block were evaluated. The Eocene-early Oligocene suprasubduction magmas were derived from geochemically and isotopically heterogeneous garnet lherzolites in a mantle wedge. The initially depleted lherzolites of the mantle wedge were probably locally and variably enriched by OIB-type mantle melts before the generation of island-arc magmas and then again depleted below the MORB level by the extraction of magmatic materials from them. In the Eocene, a considerable amount of quartz-feldspar sediments enriched in radiogenic Nd was consumed in the subduction zone, which resulted in a strong contamination of magmas derived from the garnet lherzolites of the mantle wedge. The later stages of subduction were accompanied by active generation of adakite magmas with depleted Nd isotope signatures and HFSE-rich melts showing no evidence for their contamination by sialic sediments. It was supposed that the Late Cenozoic subduction zone plunged northward beneath the Olyutorsky tectonic block. It was shown that the established characteristics of the suprasubduction magmatism of the Olyutorsky tectonic block could be related to Cenozoic spreading processes in the proto-Komandorsky basin of the Bering Sea.  相似文献

A careful selection of waste dumpsites, particularly hazardous ones, is very important for sustainable water resources management. Several laboratory experiments were carried out on the field samples to study adsorption capacity using p-dichlorobenzene (a solvent used in various industrial processes) as the test contaminant. The effect of parameters such as organic matter, clay, and iron and aluminium oxides, which are known to influence the soil adsorption capacity, are studied in the present work. Several soil samples from the Patancheru Industrial Area (Hyderabad, India) were collected and characterized. Only three soils, which had a comparatively high percentage of organic matter, clay, iron and aluminium oxide contents were used for the adsorption studies. The results clearly indicated a decrease in the adsorption capacity of the soils by as much as 75% when organic matter was removed. The other parameters such as clay and iron and aluminium oxides also play an important role in adsorption (57 and 39.8% reduction respectively). It was observed that out of the selected factors organic matter in the soils has the maximum effect regarding the adsorption of p-dichlorobenzene. Since the selected soils contain comparatively more organic matter, clay and iron and aluminium oxides in the selected industrial area, these can be used as sites for dumping hazardous waste, which can be further treated by methods like bioremediation.  相似文献

Results of the mineral and chemical study of surface-altered hyaloclastites from the Theistareykir and Nämafjall geothermal zones, the North Iceland rift, are considered. The paper scrutinizes the composition of hydrothermally altered rocks mainly consisting of clay minerals related to the transformation of bedrock hyaloclastites. The clay minerals also make up slope talus or proluvial deltas around highlands. The major clay minerals in areas of the present-day fumarole activity are kaolinite and smectite, while the redeposited talus-proluvial sediments are mainly composed of smectites. The studied rocks contain framboids, globules, rods, and other structures with morphology and size similar to those of mineralized bacteria. The local concentration of Ag in proluvial deposits is attributed to the intense bacterial activity. It is supposed that elevated contents of some trace elements could be related to an intense microbiotic influence.  相似文献

The high-temperature (HT) to ultrahigh-temperature (UHT) metamorphic rocks from Lützow–Holm Complex, East Antarctica show a systematic difference between sulfide assemblages in the rock matrix and those found as inclusions in the silicates stable in high-temperatures. Matrix sulfides are commonly pyrite with or without pentlandite and chalcopyrite. On the other hand, inclusion sulfides are pyrrhotite with or without pentlandite and chalcopyrite lamellae. When recalculated into integrated single-phase sulfide compositions, inclusion sulfides from the UHT region showed a wider range of solid–solution composition than the inclusion sulfides from the HT region. The host minerals of the sulfides with extreme solid–solution compositions are those stable at the peak of metamorphism such as orthopyroxene and garnet. One of the most extreme ones is included in orthopyroxene coexisting with sillimanite ± quartz, which is the diagnostic mineral assemblage of UHT metamorphism. These observations suggest that sulfide inclusions preserve their peak metamorphic compositions. Pyrrhotite did not revert to pyrite because of the closed system behavior of sulfur in inclusion sulfides. On the other hand, in the rock matrix where the open system behavior of sulfur is permitted, original sulfides were partly to completely altered by the later fluid activity.  相似文献

The selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of nitrogen oxides on M/ZSM-5 (M = Cu, Ni, Co) catalysts was investigated. The catalysts were prepared using hydrothermal impregnation of the metal chlorides and nitrates on ZSM-5. The catalysts were characterized by nitrogen absorption/desorption, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, ultraviolet–visible diffusion reflection spectroscopy (UV–Vis DRS), temperature-programmed reduction (TPR), N2O chemisorption and ammonia temperature-programmed desorption. The performance tests for SCR of NO were carried out in a fixed-bed reactor from 250 to 400 °C. During the impregnation, part of the aluminum was eliminated from the zeolite framework due to the acidity of the metal salt solution and heating process as indicated by the reduction in the intensity of XRD peaks and variations in the positions of the FTIR vibrational bands. The Cu(Cl)/ZSM-5 catalyst exhibited NO conversions over 90% over the entire temperature range. The other catalysts showed comparable activities, but the catalysts prepared with chloride salt precursors demonstrated higher activity than those based on nitrate as the precursor. Moreover, the TPR reduction peaks of the metal ion in catalysts prepared with chloride precursor were lower, and their UV–Vis absorption bands revealed bathochromic transfers with higher intensities. Concurrent with these changes, the activity of the catalyst increased. The TPR profiles indicated that Cu and Ni both had an oxidation number of +2, whereas Co was present in the oxidation number of +2 and +3. The mass transfer limitation analysis showed that for particles in millimeter size range or larger significant intra-particle mass transfer limitation would be expected.  相似文献

Overbank deposits in the Komissarovka River valley consist of alternating silt, clay silt, sand, and soils produced by lacustrine, alluvial, and aeolian deposition and by soil formation. Silt and sand layers in the lower part of the section correlate with the events of Early Holocene transgression and Middle Holocene regression of Lake Khanka. Deposition in the lowermost reaches of the Komissarovka River provides a faithful record of local Holocene landscapes controlled by level changes in Lake Khanka.  相似文献

Scientists from all over the world try to incorporate multi-disciplinary precursors to forecast the earthquake on a short-term basis. The authors here have analyzed outgoing longwave radiations acquired from polar-orbiting National Oceanic and Atmospheric Adminstration (NOAA) satellites and long-period infrasound waves recorded by the ground observatories in China prior to the recent Bonin Islands, Japan region earthquake which occurred on May 30, 2015 with the magnitude of 7.8. The anomalous outgoing longwave radiation (OLR) was observed on May 15, 2015, and was recorded by “NOAA 18” satellite during its “night pass.” Similarly, an abnormal infrasound spike was recorded at the Beijing station on May 17, 2015. The delay in observing anomalous infrasound waves compared to the OLR anomaly is due to these low-frequency waves traveling at low speed with the velocity range of 10–15 m/s. From the analysis of the results, it can be inferred that there is a substantial relation between parameters like OLR and infrasound waves; hence, the authors conclude that it is possible to forecast the earthquake on a short-term basis with reasonable accuracy.  相似文献
