Structural trends in the upper Proterozoic Cuddapah basin, at the basement level and at the Moho level have been discussed based on Deep Seismic Sounding (DSS) studies. Results of DSS studies along the Alampur-Koniki profile (profile 2 of Fig. 1) crossing the northern part of the Cuddapah basin have been discussed in detail. These results, combined with the results of the Kavali-Paranpalle section of the Kavali-Udipi DSS profile (profile 1 of Fig. 1, Kaila et al., 1979) crossing the basin on its southern flank, along with geological data and earthquake epicentral locations, are used to explain the structural trends of the area. It has been shown that the Cuddapah basin was first created in its western part by downfaulting of the crustal block between faults 7 and 14 towards the west and fault 6 in the east (Fig. 1). Subsequently, the eastern part was downfaulted against fault 6 before the commencement of upper Cuddapah sedimentation. Further downfaulting towards the north along fault 5 created the Srisailam block. Minor-scale downfaulting between faults 7 and 13 in the west and fault 6 in the east and fault 8 in the north gave rise to the Kurnool sub-basin at a later stage. Similar downfaulting east of fault 9 and north of fault 5 gave rise to the Palnad sub-basin. Both these sub-basins received Kurnool sediments.After the close of Kurnool sedimentation, the blocks between faults 4 and 6 along profile II and between 11 and 6 along profile I were uplifted at the basement level, thus giving rise to the Nallamalai hills and Iswarakuppam dome (Fig. 1). The low-angle thrust fault 3 on the eastern margin of the Cuddapah basin might be a post-Cuddapah phenomenon. The low-angle thrust fault 2 probably occurred in the post-Dharwar period. Faults 1, 17 and 10 near the east coast of India seem to be comparatively younger probably of Mesozoic time, along which the coastal block is downfaulted giving rise to the sedimentary basins.  相似文献

First arrival refraction data does not normally provide any indication of the velocity inversion problem. However, under certain favourable circumstances, when the low-velocity layer (LVL) is considerably thicker than the overlying higher-velocity layer (HVL), the velocity inversion can be seen in the form of a traveltime skip. Model Studies show that in such cases the length of the HVL traveltime branch can be used to determine the thickness of the HVL and the magnitude of the traveltime skip in order to determine the thickness of the LVL. We present a new model of dissipative energy fluid without appearance of horizon. The interior matter fluid is shear-free isotropic spherically symmetric and undergoing radial heat flow. The interior metric is matched with Vaidya exterior metric over the boundary. The model obeyed all the relevant physical and thermodynamic conditions. In this model, the collapse begins at infinite past with both infinite mass and radius and contracts to a point as time tends to zero without forming an event horizon.  相似文献

42 genera of palynomorphs have been reported from the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the palynoflora from both open cast mine and bore holes viz., Ballarpur open cast mine, Durgapur open cast mine and Bore hole CMWNM-57 on barrier between Kawadi/Majri open cast and Hindustan Lalpeth Colliery from the Wardha valley coalfield of Wardha basin. Two palynoassemblages have been recorded i.e., an Upper Karharbari palynoassemblage comprising dominance of radial monosaccate genus Parasaccites and subdominance of nonstriate disaccate genus Scheuringipollenites and a Lower Barakar palynoassemblage consisting of dominance of Scheuringipollenites and subdominance of striate disaccates chiefly Faunipollenites, suggesting an Early Permian age (Late Sakmarian to Early Artinskian) to the sediments. It is further authenticated by the occurrence of palynotaxa viz., Crucisaccites, Caheniasaccites, Indotriradites and Tiwariasporis. Upper Karharbari Formation has been demarcated for the first time in lithologically designated Barakar Formations in Ballarpur, Durgapur, Majri and Hindustan Lalpeth Colliery while the sample 57/2 of bore hole CMWNM from Kawadi area may belong to the Kamthi Formation on the basis of pinkish yellowish coarse grained to medium grained sandstone. An attempt has been made to correlate these palynoassemblages with other Lower Gondwana basins of Early Permian affinity.  相似文献

The metasedimentary rocks of the area around Mangpu constitute a portion of the hinge zone of the northern limb of the major synform of Lower Darjeeling Himalaya. The rocks display evidences of multiple deformation and at least three major phases of deformation have been recognized. The time relations between the phases of deformation (D1, D2, D3) and metamorphic crystallization reveal a single major prograde metamorphic event that initiated with the D1 deformation and finally outlasted it. The earlier phase of this metamorphism is essentially regional syn-tectonic lowgrade (greenschist facies) which may be designated (M1, early). This was followed by regional static metamorphism (M1, late) in the post-tectonic phase between D1 and D2 deformations (upper green schist and amphibolite facies). This M1 metamorphism is superposed by later retrogressive metamorphism (M2) during the D2 and D3 deformations (lower greenschist facies). Within the study area four isograds have been delineated by the first appearance of index minerals in the pelitic schists and gneiss which display Barrovian type of metamorphism.  相似文献

Tecomella undulata is an important indigenous tree species found in the hot desert areas of Rajasthan State in India. Data from 22 sample plots were used to model the dominant height growth of T. undulata. Four algebraic difference form equations were compared to select the best model. Autocorrelation was modeled as a first-order autoregressive process. The models were evaluated based on qualitative and quantitative criteria. The Payandeh and Wang's model, which is a base-age invariant polymorphic equation derived as a constrained version of the Chapman–Richards function, produced the best results. With this model, site index can be explicitly determined through direct evaluation of the functions and there is no need for iterative numerical evaluation methods. The model is applicable regardless of the choice of rotation age. The Payandeh and Wang's model is recommended for site classification and dominant height prediction in T. undulata stands in the hot desert of Rajasthan State in India.  相似文献

The sedimentary-tectonic status of Permian-Triassic boundary is examined in Gondwana stratigraphy of Peninsular India based on lithofacies characters, palaeoslope, and depositional models. The Late Permians represent meandering streams which flowed from southeast to northwest, except in Damodar basin where palaeoslope was from east to west. In Satpura, and Pranhita-Godavari basins, the Early Triassics record braided stream facies models. The palaeoslope remains northwesterly during Early Triassic sedimentation.Integrated evidence suggests that the Permian-Triassic boundary in Peninsular Gondwana stratigraphy of India is marked by tectonic discordance, and uplifts in the provenance.  相似文献
