ABSTRACT

Among various strategies for sediment reduction, venting turbidity currents through dam outlets can be an efficient way to reduce suspended sediment deposition. The accuracy of turbidity current arrival time forecasts is crucial for the operation of reservoir desiltation. A turbidity current arrival time (TCAT) model is proposed. A multi-objective genetic algorithm (MOGA), a support vector machine (SVM) and a two-stage forecasting technique are integrated to obtain more effective long lead-time forecasts of inflow discharge and inflow sediment concentration. The multi-objective genetic algorithm (MOGA) is applied for determining the optimal inputs of the forecasting model, support vector machine (SVM). The two-stage forecasting technique is implemented by adding the forecasted values to candidate inputs for improving the long lead-time forecasting. Then, the turbidity current arrival time from the inflow boundary to the reservoir outlet is calculated. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the TCAT model, it is applied to Shihmen Reservoir in northern Taiwan. The results confirm that the TCAT model forecasts are in good agreement with the observed data. The proposed TCAT model can provide useful information for reservoir sedimentation management during desilting operations.  相似文献

Most geologists believe that there are no Early and Middle Triassic strata in the W. Gandisê stratigraphic subregion, but the present authors have found Early Triassic conodonts for the first time in the Shiquanhe area, including five conodonts genera (Form genera): Pachycladina, Neohindeodella, Cornudina, Hadrodontina and Hibbardella sp. etc. Then we affirm that Early Triassic deposits exist in the Gandisê stratigraphic subregion, and establish the Tangnale Formation. The conclusion is new important complementary basal data for Triassic stratigraphy division of Gangdisê, reconstructing palaogeography and studying Gangdisê from Paleozoic to Mesozoic island-arc evolution and transi-tion.  相似文献

A series of pseudo‐dynamic tests (PDTs) of a full‐scale 3‐story 3‐bay buckling‐restrained braced frame (BRBF) using concrete‐filled tube columns was tested in the Taiwan National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering using networked PDT techniques in October 2003. During the tests, real‐time experimental responses and video were webcasted to Internet viewers. The input ground motions adopted for the PDTs were chosen from the 1999 Chi‐Chi and the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquakes and scaled to represent three seismic hazard levels. This paper is in two parts, focusing on the investigations of the overall structure and the local members. This paper constitutes Part I and discusses the design, analytical investigations, and key experimental results of the specimen frame, such as the buckling of the brace‐to‐gusset joints. Part II of the paper, the companion paper, describes the gusset stiffening schemes and detailed experimental behavior of the BRBs and their connections. Experimental peak inter‐story drifts of 0.019 and 0.023 radians, prescribed for the design basis and the maximum credible earthquakes, respectively, are within the target design limits of 0.020 and 0.025 radians. These tests confirmed that the PISA3D and OpenSees nonlinear structural analysis computer programs can simulate the experimental peak shears and floor displacements well. 明长城遗址是与丝绸之路沿线赋存环境相统一的开放系统,遗址的病害表观、时空演化受环境因素影响显著。调查丝绸之路遗址区的气候特征和地质地貌、地震活动等环境特征并选取具有差异性环境特征的典型遗址,通过史料查阅、野外考察和室内分析测试,结合遗址区环境特征和建筑形制、土体性质研究各类病害在不同因素影响下其表观特征及空间分布规律,验证各类病害形成与发展的存在性,进一步揭示病害演化机制,为防治和监测病害的形成和发展提供参考,提出在遗址加固保护中应基于各类病害的表征及机理有的放矢地设计全面的保护方案,这对土遗址的长期保存有着重要意义。  相似文献

Optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating methods have been widely applied in Quaternary glaciology. However, glacigenic deposits are considered in general as problematic for OSL dating, mainly because they are transported shorter distances prior to burial and are usually partially bleached. Thus, most researchers choose glaciofluvial and glaciolacustrine sediments (with relatively longer transportation times) for OSL dating when constraining the age of glaciation. In this study, four samples were collected from a lateral moraine series at Zhuqing Village, northern margin of Queer Shan Mountain, eastern Tibetan Plateau, in order to investigate the applicability of OSL dating for morainic deposits. Quartz grains (38–63 μm) were extracted and measured using single aliquot regenerative-dose (SAR) protocol. Internal checks and dose recovery test show that the SAR protocol is appropriate for equivalent dose (De) determination. The effect of thermal transfer is small for all samples and the recycling ratio for each individual sample is close to unity. The symmetry in the De distributions indicates that quartz grains were well-bleached prior to burial. OSL ages show good agreement with geomorphological and field investigations, and are also concordant with an independent ESR age. It is concluded that: (a) the morainic deposits in Zhuqing were well-bleached and suitable for OSL dating; (b) SAR protocol can be applied to morainic deposits for samples under study.  相似文献

To define the seismic input in non-liquefiable soils, current seismic standards give the possibility to treat local site effects using a simplified approach. This method is generally based on the introduction of an appropriate number of soil categories with associated soil factors that allow modifying the shape of the elastic acceleration response spectrum computed at rocky (i.e. stiff) sites. Although this approach is highly debated among researchers, it is extensively used in practice due to its easiness. As a matter of fact, for standard projects, this method represents the driving approach for the definition of the seismic input. Nevertheless, recent empirical and numerical studies have risen doubts about the reliability and safety of the simplified approach in view of the tendency of the current soil factors of Italian and European building codes to underestimate the acceleration at the free surface of the soil deposit. On the other hand, for certain soil classes, the current soil factors seem to overestimate ground amplification. Furthermore, the occurrence of soil nonlinearity, whose magnitude is linked to both soil type and level of seismic intensity, highlights the fallacy of using constant soil factors for sites with a different seismic hazard. The objective of this article is to propose a methodology for the definition of hazard-dependent soil factors and simultaneously quantify the reliability of the coefficients specified in the current versions of Eurocode 8 (CEN 2005) and Italian Building Code (NTC8 2008 and revision NTC18 2018). One of the most important outcome of this study is the quantification of the relevance of soil nonlinearity through the definition of empirical relationships between soil factors and peak ground acceleration at outcropping rock sites with flat topological surface (reference condition).  相似文献

With the long-term data of the geodetic sea level measurements undertaken in the Dongting Basin and the recent sediment data of Dongting Lake, we analyze the tectonic subsidence rate of the Dongting Basin and the sedimentary rate of Dongting Lake. From the point of view of geomorphology and hydrogeology, we distinguish the two different spatial concepts between “the basin of Dongting Lake“ and “the Dongting Basin“. Then, we discuss the influences of the tectonic subsidence and the siltation on the levees and the space of storing flood. The better quality of levees is required due to the tectonic subsidence and the siltation, and the difficulties of preventing flood disasters are increasing.The space of storing flood is not affected by the tectonic subsidence, but by the siltation. At present,the sedimentary rate of Dongting Lake is higher than the tectonic subsidence rate of the Dongting Basin. The tectonic subsidence capacity of the Dongting Basin counteracts a part of sedimentary capacity, and the shrinking tendency of Dongting Lake is restrained to a certain extent, but the tectonic subsidence is harmful to the situation of preventing flood disasters in the Dongting Lake area.  相似文献
