This paper reviews major concerns in the development of geographic information systems in Czechoslovakia (underlying theory, design and system requirements, data acquisition and classification, and mathematical-cartographic modeling), and describes the structure of two systems developed for the city of Brno and the surrounding semi-rural countryside. These systems are designed to permit the widest possible range of spatial information to be incorporated into their data bases, to allow maximum flexibility of response to changing user requirements, to produce a wide variety of graphic products, and to provide a capacity for automated forecasting and output of forecast maps. Presented at the Euro-Carto III Seminar sponsored by the International Cartographic Association at Graz, Austria, October 23-25, 1984 and submitted to the Editor-in-Chief for publication.  相似文献

An Oxfordian (Late Jurassic) hemipelagic succession from Beauvoisin (SE France) contains a pronounced, short‐lived negative excursion in the bulk‐carbonate carbon‐isotope record, with an amplitude of 4‰. It was shown previously that the Beauvoisin paleoenvironment was impacted by hydrocarbon seepage. New isotopic data corroborate that methane was a significant constituent of these hydrocarbons. The negative excursion was caused by transient enhanced precipitation of 13C‐depleted carbonate, mediated by anaerobic oxidation of methane. Despite its local diagenetic origin, the Beauvoisin excursion is similar in shape and duration to globally recognized negative C‐isotope excursions that have been related to catastrophic, massive dissociation of methane hydrate. Shape and duration of negative excursions therefore cannot be used as an argument when determining their origin if they have not been shown to represent a global perturbation of the carbon cycle.  相似文献

The Zoumi Basin was generated in a collisional tectonic setting during the Lower-Middle Miocene. The syn-orogenic flysch deposits of the basin have been well investigated by petrographic and geochemical studies to characterize the composition, source to sink routing system, and tectonic setting of the Zoumi flysch. Forty-three sandstone samples and 45 mudstone samples have been gathered from six measured stratigraphic sections. These samples have been analyzed using XRD, XRF, inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) for mudrocks and petrographic investigation for sandstones. The Lower-Middle Miocene Zoumi flysch is defined as sublitharenites and quartzarenites according to mineralogical content. Detrital grains are commonly subangular to subrounded, poorly sorted, and rich in quartz grains. Point counting modal analysis leads to craton interior and recycled orogen provenance with significant first-cycle sediment supply and low sedimentary recycling. Several chemical ratios (Al2O3/TiO2, La/Th, Cr/Th, Th/Sc, Zr/Sc) as well as chondrite-normalized REE patterns with flat HREE, LREE enrichment, and negative Eu anomaly suggest a dominant felsic rock sources. However, V-Ni-La*4, V-Ni-Th*10, and Th/Sc vs. Cr/Th plots do not exclude a mafic supply source nature which is evidenced by numerous ophiolitic outcrops scattered throughout the Mesorifan Subdomain (Mesorifan Ophiolitic Suture Zone).  相似文献

The study analyzes drought using Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) and Mann-Kendall (MK) Trend Test in the context of the impacts of drought on groundwater table (GWT) during the period 1971-2011 in the Barind area, Bangladesh. The area experienced twelve moderate to extreme agricultural droughts in the years 1972, 1975, 1979, 1982, 1986, 1989, 1992, 1994, 2003, 2005, 2009 and 2010. Some of them coincide with El Niño events. Hydrological drought also occurred almost in the same years. However, relationship between all drought events and El Niño is not clear. Southern and central parts of the area frequently suffer from hydrological drought, northern part is affected by agricultural drought. Trends in SPI values indicate that the area has an insignificant trend towards drought, and numbers of mild and moderate drought are increasing. GWT depth shows strong correlation with rainy season SPI values such that GWT regaining corresponds with rising SPI values and vice versa. However, 2000 onwards, GWT depth is continuously increasing even with positive SPI values. This is due to over-exploitation of groundwater and changes in cropping patterns. Agricultural practice in Barind area based on groundwater irrigation is vulnerable to drought. Hence, adaptation measures to minimize effects of drought on groundwater ought to be taken.  相似文献

Numerous observations on mafic–ultramafic layered intrusions, sills and dykes show that chilled margins always develop as an integral part of their marginal reversals and possess the following features: (a) they are commonly much more evolved or primitive than bulk intrusion compositions, (b) evolved chilled margins are composed of the low temperature cotectic assemblages of relevant magmatic systems and (c) tend to be compositionally similar in intrusions formed from different parental magmas, (d) fine-grained chilled margins are notably absent in many intrusions, with contact rocks being represented by medium- to coarse-grained cumulates. The anomalous features of chilled margins can be partly attributed to contamination, intratelluric inhomogeneity of magma, changes in composition of intruding magma, loss of magma from the chamber, supercooling, etc. A major process still remains, however, illusive, but appears to be universally operating along the cooling margins of magmatic bodies in a liquid state, being gravity-independent and temperature gradient-driven. We recognize this not yet specified process as Soret fractionation and explain the above observations in the following way. Primary chilled margins do not commonly survive because of intensive remelting by heat flux from the interior of the chamber. The subsequently formed “secondary chilled margins” represent cumulates that crystallized from liquids produced by temperature gradient-driven Soret fractionation. At high temperature gradients the process tends to produce similar cotectic liquids crystallizing gabbronorite (or gabbro) from all parental magmas of a given magmatic system, resulting in compositionally similar “secondary chilled margins” that are more evolved than bulk compositions. At low temperature gradients the process produces liquids that are only slightly more fractionated than the parental magma and form “secondary chilled margins” that are more primitive than bulk compositions. This interpretation suggests that, apart from the rare cases of chilled margins that survived remelting, they should not be used as monitors for parental magma compositions of intrusive bodies, even if all conventional complicating factors were not operative.  相似文献

The internal sediment release is a key factor controlling eutrophication processes in large,shallow lakes.Sediment resuspension is associated with the wave and current induced shear stress in large,shallow lakes.The current study investigated the wind field impacts on sediment resuspension from the bottom at Meiliang Bay of large,shallow Lake Taihu.The impacts of the wind field on the wave,current,and wave-current combined shear stresses were calculated.The critical wind speed range was 4–6 m/s after which wave and current shear stress started to increase abruptly,and onshore wind directions were found to be mainly responsible for greater shear stress at the bottom of Lake Taihu.A second order polynomial fitting correlation was found between wave(R^2 0.4756)and current(R^2 0.4466)shear stresses with wind speed.Wave shear stress accounted for 92.5% of the total shear stress at Meiliang Bay.The critical wave shear stress and critical total shear stress were 0.13 N/m^2 for sediment resuspension whereas the current shear stress was 0.019 N/m^2 after which suspended sediment concentrations(SSC)increased abruptly.A second order polynomial fitting correlation was found between wave(R^2 0.739),current(R^2 0.6264),and total shear stress(R^2 0.7394)with SSC concentrations at Meiliang Bay of Lake Taihu.The sediment resuspension rate was 120 to 738 g/m^2/d during 4–6 m/s onshore winds while offshore winds contributed ≥ 200 g/m^2/d.The study results reveal the driving mechanism for understanding the role of the wind field in sediment resuspension while considering wind speed and direction as control parameters to define wave and current shear stresses.  相似文献

Wheat cultivars of diverse origin including approved varieties of different provinces of Pakistan i.e. Punjab, NWFP and Sindh were tested against different salinity levels in laboratory as well as in naturally saline fields in different ecological zones. Initially, 16 genotypes were studied for germination test at 6 different salinity levels ranging from 0–25 dS/m (2, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, EC= dS/m). Then, out of 16 cultivars, 11 were studied for the relative growth rate at different levels of salinity and after their study in the laboratory, 9 genotypes were selected for testing in the naturally saline areas of Punjab province. Under germination percentage study, the varieties viz. Pasban-90, Sarsabz, Bakhtawar, 93032 and 933118 were less affected than other varieties. As regards the relative plant growth, varieties viz. Sarsabz, Bakhtawar, and Pasban-90 were tolerant to salinity at seedling stage while Inqlab was graded as sensitive to salt stress. Regarding field performance, significant differences were observed in the varieties grown under different saline environments and varieties x environment interaction. Varieties x environment (Lin) interaction was non significant while nonlinear interaction (pooled deviation) was significant. Based on overall yield performance, the Sarsabz variety produced the highest seed yield (4.37 T/ha) followed by Bakhtawar (4.24 T/ha) and Pasban-90 (3.93 T/ha). Regression coefficient values showed non significant differences to unity while standard deviation to regression showed significant differences to zero. These results indicated that the genotypes viz. Sarsabaz, Bakhtawar and Pasban-90 are better tolerant to saline environment as compared to others. The two genotypes, Marvi and 25219 had low regression values and can fit under stress environment.  相似文献
