An analysis of our observations of the Geminga object with the GT-48 ground-based gamma-ray telescope has shown that its very-high-energy gamma-ray flux is modulated with a 59-s period. The 59-s period and its time derivative previously inferred from satellite data have been confirmed. According to our data, the period was 61.94 s in 1997 at MSD=50573. The statistical significance of this result is (1?4.5)×10?4.  相似文献

We study the temporal intensity variations of Mgib bright features and investigate the corresponding Hα velocity pattern. The network bright features are well visible in the continuum, in images averaged over the duration of the observations (130 min). We detected `flashing' bright features, which appear and disappear within two to five minutes, while the rest of the bright features undergo small variations of either their shape and/or their intensity. A power spectrum analysis reveals a 10-min oscillation for approximately half of the stable bright features. The 5-min oscillations are detected mainly at the network boundaries, where stable bright features are located, while 3-min oscillations coincide with few bright features, but are also quite intense inside the network cells. The majority of bright features are associated with Hα downflows. The downflow is very intense at the location of `flashing' bright features.  相似文献

We present first results from a monitoring campaign of GRS 1915+105 undertaken with the USA X-ray timing experiment on the ARGOS satellite. A variety of behaviour has been observed, ranging from low, steady X-ray emission to rapid quasi-periodic flaring on timescales of approximately 10–120 seconds.  相似文献

We suggest that Jovian planets will survive the late stages of stellar evolution, and that white dwarfs will retain planetary systems in wide orbits (≳5 au). Utilizing evolutionary models for Jovian planets, we show that infrared imaging with 8-m class telescopes of suitable nearby white dwarfs should allow us to resolve and detect companions ≳3 M JUP. Detection of massive planetary companions to nearby white dwarfs would prove that such objects can survive the final stages of stellar evolution, place constraints on the frequency of main-sequence stars with planetary systems dynamically similar to our own and allow direct spectroscopic investigation of their composition and structure.  相似文献

Photometric observations of the variable star TX Oph were performed with CCD photometers during the observing seasons of 1999, 2000, and 2002. Analysis of these observations together with published data has confirmed the mean period of the main variability cycle P = 135d. 2613 over almost 70 years. A secondary cycle with a period of about 10–12 thousand days has also been found.  相似文献

Analysis of SOHO longitudinal magnetograms and Dopplergrams has revealed the appearance of a region of enhanced upflow of matter in the photosphere when the top of a loop-shaped magnetic flux tube forming a large active region passed through it. The maximum upflow velocity reached 2 km s?1, the maximum size exceeded 20 000 km, and the lifetime was about 2 h.  相似文献

It is shown that the drift waves near the light cylinder can cause the modulation of emission with periods of order several seconds. These periods explain the intervals between successive pulses observed in AXPs, SGRs and radio pulsars with long periods. The model under consideration gives the possibility to calculate real rotation periods P of host neutron stars. It is shown that P≤1 s for the investigated objects. The magnetic fields at the surface of the neutron star are of order 1011–1013 G and equal to the fields usual for the known radio pulsars.   相似文献

We present our Hα observations of 11 isolated southern galaxies: SDIG, PGC 51659, E 222-010, E 272-025, E 137-018, IC 4662, Sag DIG, IC 5052, IC 5152, UGCA 438, and E 149-003, with distances from 1 to 7 Mpc. We have determined the total Hα fluxes from these galaxies. The star formation rates in these galaxies range from 10?1 (IC 4662) to 10?4 M yr?1 (SDIG) and the gas depletion time at the observed star formation rates lies within the range from 1/6 to 24 Hubble times H 0 ?1 .  相似文献

Results from simultaneous spectral and photometric monitoring of the Herbig Ae star CQ Tau in the neighborhood of the Hα and resonance sodium doublet Na I D lines are presented. It is shown that the inner structure of the accretion disk of CQ Tau is nonuniform and consists of two regions with quite different kinematic characteristics. Region I is characterized by relative stability and a smooth long-term variation in the velocity of the gas along the line of sight. Region II is distinguished by the highest velocities and a variability in their maximum values over time scales from a few days to 700 days. The dust clouds which produse the star’s brightness minima may also be the source of cold gas and contribute to the observed spectral variability. We assume that region I of the disk coincides with the accretion disk of the star. The kinematic differences in region II may be caused by dissipation of circumstellar dust clouds which, moving in elongated orbits, are able to approach the star quite closely. __________ Translated from Astrofizika, Vol. 50, No. 1, pp. 39–55 (February 2007).  相似文献
