High-resolution far-infrared observations of a large area of the star-forming complex RCW 106 obtained using the TIFR 1-m balloon-borne telescope are presented. Intensity maps have been obtained simultaneously in two bands centred around 150 and 210 μm. Intensity maps have also been obtained in the four IRAS bands using HIRES-processed IRAS data. From the 150- and 210-μm maps, reliable maps of dust temperature and optical depth have been generated. The star formation in this complex has occurred in five linear sub-clumps. Using the map at 210 μm, which has a spatial resolution superior to that of IRAS at 100 μm, 23 sources have been identified. The spectral energy distribution (SED) and luminosity of these sources have been determined using the associations with the IRAS maps. The luminosity distribution of these sources has been obtained. Assuming these embedded sources to be zero-age main-sequence stars and using the mass–luminosity relation for these, the power-law slope of the initial mass function is found to be −1.73±0.5 . This index for this very young complex is about the same as that for more evolved complexes and clusters. Radiation transfer calculations in spherically symmetric geometry have been undertaken to fit the SEDs of 13 sources with fluxes in both the TIFR and the IRAS bands. From this, the r −2 density distribution in the envelopes is ruled out. Finally, a correlation is seen between the luminosity of embedded sources and the computed dust masses of the envelopes. 相似文献

assuming a Maxwellian distribution of velocities for the constituent stars. The observed luminosity profiles of dwarf spheroidals
imply densities for the dark matter in the range 10-26 to 10-25 g cm-3, and mass-to-luminosity ratios which are typically an order of magnitude greater than those of globular clusters. Neutrinos

The antagonistic effects of Kepone (chlordecone) and o,p'-DDD on maturation-inducing steroid (17α,20β,21-trihydroxy-4-pregnen-3-one, 20β-S) induced final maturation of Atlantic croaker (Micropogonias undulatus). Oocytes were investigated in an in vitro germinal vesicle breakdown (GVBD) bioassay. Exposure to Kepone or o,p'-DDD (100 nM-100 μM) prevented the majority of the oocytes from completing GVBD in response to 20β-S; many of them were arrested at the lipid coalescence or germinal vesicle migration stages when exposed to high xenobiotic concentrations (100 μM). In addition, clearing of the ooplasm, oil droplet formation and hydration were incomplete in xenobiotic-exposed oocytes that underwent GVBD. The xenobiotics inhibited GVBD in a concentration-dependent manner. One minute exposure to either of the xenobiotics was sufficient to block GVBD. Washing the follicle-enclosed oocytes after xenobiotic exposure restored their ability to undergo GVBD in response to 20β-S. These results suggest that o,p'-DDD and Kepone exert antagonistic effects on 20β-S action, possibly by competing for the ovarian 20β-S membrane receptor. 相似文献

A comprehensive classifier system is presented for short-duration oceanic signals obtained from passive sonar, which exhibit variability in both temporal and spectral characteristics even in signals obtained from the same source. Wavelet-based feature extractors are shown to be superior to the more commonly used autoregressive coefficients and power spectral coefficients for describing these signals. A variety of static neural network classifiers are evaluated and are shown to compare favorably with traditional statistical techniques for signal classification. The focus is on those networks that are able to time-out irrelevant input features and are less susceptible to noisy inputs, and two new neural-network-based classifiers are introduced. Methods for combining the outputs of several classifiers to yield a more accurate labeling are proposed and evaluated. These methods lead to higher classification accuracy and provide a mechanism for recognizing deviant signals and false alarms. The paper presented is a solution of shallow water wave force, using small amplitude linear wave theory on two-dimensional vertically submerged circular thin plates under three different configurations: (1) a surface-piercing circular thin plate, (2) a submerged circular thin plate, and (3) a bottom-standing circular thin plate. Finally Morison's equation is used for the determination of wave force which is based on the linear wave theory. The plate is submerged in water near the shore on uniformly sloping bottom. The solution method is confined in a finite domain, which contains both the region of different depth of water and the plate. Laplace's equation and boundary value problems are solved in a finite domain, by the method of separation of variables and the small amplitude linear wave theory. The variation of horizontal force by single particle, total horizontal force and moment with respect to the wave amplitude are obtained at different depth of water and at different wave period. It is observed that the force and moment are converging with the increase of wave period and the gradients of force and moment with respect to the wave amplitude are extremely high for lower wave period. 相似文献

This paper aims in presenting a thorough comparison of performance of pan sharpening techniques, belonging to spatial, spectral, scale-space and spatial-frequency domain, for Very High Resolution Satellite Data. With the availability of new Very High Resolution sensors, especially, World View-2 sensor, which provides data at sub-meter level, the need for fusion of Panchromatic (PAN) and Multispectral (MS) images has to be further investigated. Pan-sharpening techniques namely, Hue-Saturation-Intensity, Brovey Transform, Principal Components Analysis, Discrete Wavelet Transform, Stationary Wavelet Transform, Non Sub-sampled contourlet Transform and Pseudo Wigner Distribution (PWD) fusion method have been selected for the fusion of PAN and MS images of World View-2 sensor. Further, the comparison of performance of each of the techniques have been carried out by using various evaluation indicators, such as, Root Mean Square Error, Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio, Correlation Coefficient, Universal Image Quality Index. In the present study, parameters derived from Ice, Cloud, and land Elevation Satellite/Geoscience Laser Altimeter System (GLAS) full waveform were used for land cover classification in western part of Doon valley, Uttarakhand, India. Three parameters, viz, height, front slope angle (afslope) and canopy return ratio (rCanopy) were extracted from the returned full waveform signals. k-means (KM), partitioning around medoids (PAM), and fuzzy c-means (FCM) with different cluster sizes were used for classifying the land cover types with the help of GLAS-derived parameters. Among the clustering methods, KM performed the best. The overall accuracy (89.41 %) of all methods were quite significant with cluster size three i.e. with three classes forest, mango orchard and other class including agriculture, barren/fallow land, settlement, dry river bed, etc. The accuracy of the PAM (60 %) and the FCM (68.4 %) decreased drastically at four clusters with the separation of agriculture from barren/fallow land. The accuracy of the PAM and the FCM further decreased with increase in the number of clusters whereas KM showed reliable results for all clusters. KM with five clusters was able to distinguish five different land covers, viz, forest, mango orchard, agriculture and barren/fallow land and other class including settlement, dry river bed, etc. with an overall classification accuracy of 72.93 %. MUSICOS (for MUlti-SIte COntinuous Spectroscopy) is an international project to facilitate and organize world-wide multi-site campaigns in high resolution spectroscopy, in view of obtaining a complete time coverage of various types of variable stellar phenomena.In the framework of this project a vast spectroscopic campaign was organized in December 1992, involving 8 sites well distributed in longitude around the Earth. The observations concerned three scientific programs, among which was the study of azimuthal structures in the wind and chromosphere of the pre-Main-Sequence Herbig Ae star AB Aur.The Hei 5876 line of AB Aur, which is formed in the expanding chromosphere of this star, in the innermost parts of its wind, was monitored at a resolution of 30000, nearly continuously for about 4 days. A spectacular variability of this line was discovered, the profile changing from pure emission to a composite profile including a deep absorption component in the course of a few hours.
