Zusammenfassung Am 9. Mai wurde der dritte chinesische Kernwaffenversuch durchgeführt. Als Folge konnte etwa vierzehn Tage nach dem Explosionszeitpunkt in Stuttgart-Hohenheim eine deutliche Zunahme des radioaktiven Befalls festgestellt werden. Für die gewonneuen Niederschlags-, Staub- und Luftfilterproben, sowie für ein Heisses Teilchen wurdent –(1+x )-Kurven gemessen, diex-Werte bestimmt und gammaspektrometrisch die Nuklidzusammensetzung untersucht. An den aufgefundenen Nukliddiskriminierungen ist bemerkenswert, dass das Heisse Teilchen eine deutliche95Zr-95 Nb-Anreicherung aufwies.
Summary The results of an investigation of the deposition of nuclear weapon debris from the third Chinese test explosion are discussed.t –(1+x )-curves were measured and the values of the parameterx are presented. The dry and precipitation fallout samples and a hot particle were gammaspectrometrically examined. Fractionation phenomena were studied.

ABSTRACT

Power plants often use river waters for cooling purposes and can be sensitive to droughts and low flows. Water quality is also a concern, due to algal blooms and sediment loads that might clog filters. We assessed the impacts of droughts on river flow and water quality from the point of view of power plant operation. The INCA (INtegrated CAtchment) water quality model was coupled with a climate model to create a dataset of flow and water quality time series, using the River Trent (UK) as a case study. The result hints to a significant decrease in flows and an increase in phosphorus concentrations, potentially enhancing algal production. Power plants should expect more stress in the future based on the results of this study, due to reduced cooling water availability and decreasing upstream water quality. This issue might have serious consequences also on the whole national power network.  相似文献

This paper is a pedagogical introduction to avalanche models of solar flares, including a comprehensive review of recent modeling efforts and directions. This class of flare model is built on a recent paradigm in statistical physics, known as self-organized criticality. The basic idea is that flares are the result of an ‘avalanche’ of small-scale magnetic reconnection events cascading through a highly stressed coronal magnetic structure, driven to a critical state by random photospheric motions of its magnetic footpoints. Such models thus provide a natural and convenient computational framework to examine Parker's hypothesis of coronal heating by nanoflares. The various extinctions of marine taxa in the Late Cenomanian can be shown as conforming to the 'step-wise extinction' model. The order of such extinctions is, however, compatible with the presence of an expanded oxygen minimum zone in the world ocean. The occurrence of iridium anomalies at this level in the succession may, however, indicate a volcanogenic control on the global environment. Detailed time-analysis of the Late Cenomanian event has been used to produce a correlation of some key successions.  相似文献

In a previous paper, a semi-analytical solution for the long-term motion of Pluto was presented. The present paper contains: (1) a comparison of the present solution with the solution by Williams and Benson; (2) a discussion of the effect of the near resonance between Pluto and Uranus; and, (3) a calculation of the librational period of the eccentricity, inclination and perihelion.The semi-analytical solution is shown to agree very closely with the long-term solution for Pluto obtained by Williams and Benson using numerical integration of the averaged equations of motion. A small difference between the two solutions is attributed to neglecting the eccentricity and inclination of Neptune in the semi-analytical solution.  相似文献

This paper introduces the North Sea as a fast evolving coastal ecosystem. The variability of natural conditions relates to the global climatic change and to human disturbances, which originate regionally. Education is an integral part of the strategy to improve environmental awareness. Considering contemporary challenges for educating the wider public about the main issues of environmental concern, attention is paid to various plans, which are being developed in North-Western Europe from primary schools to universities. "Learning for life" relies on an opening of the vocation of traditional universities and on the creation of a European university. Sharing resources in a competitive environment is one response given by British universities in the framework of a Discipline Network in Coastal Sciences and Management in 1996-2000. Networking is truly the key to a fast evolving teaching and learning context, notably in relation to ever developing information and communication technologies. The dissemination of scientific information is primordial in this context; a case study relating to the European project "Marine biodiversity in Europe" (BIOMARE) demonstrates the need for an elaborated strategy leading to socio-economic considerations. Empowering communities and governance are the main possible outcomes of such an enlarged approach to education, involving teachers, students, researchers, professionals, and volunteers. Proposals are made for amplifying the involvement of non-scientists into scientific research and its applications to management. Finally, a case is made for facilitating the mobility of all concerned, with a view to annihilate language and cultural barriers.  相似文献

We assess the probability and importance of different spatial distributions ofPhragmites australis (Trin Ex Steud) within brackish tidal marshes of the mid-Atlantic United States coast. The comparative impact ofPhragmites expansion on the larger coupled marsh-estuary system may partially be a function of the landscape area dominated byPhragmites, the landscape position occupied byPhragmites, the landscape pattern created byPhragmites expansions, and the resulting impact on tidal drainage networks. We find evidence thatPhragmites establishment can occur at many landscape positions, and thatPhragmites spread within a marsh can occur via colonization (new patches), linear clonal growth (along a preferred axis), or circular clonal growth (non-directional, random spread). Early intervals ofPhragmites spread were dominated by colonization for all sites except for Piermont Marsh (which appeared to be dominated by linear clonal growth) and Lang Tract (which appeared to be dominated by circular clonal growth). Although 46–100% of new patches ofPhragmites occurred within 5 m of drainages, at only one site (Piermont Marsh, New York) didPhragmites populations remain concentrated along creek banks. Except for Iona Island, New York, which appears to be in an early stage ofPhragmites invasion, patch dynamics at all sites showed an increase followed by a decrease in patch number, as independent patches became established, expanded, and coalesced. We also found some evidence for a loss of first order streams at later stages ofPhragmites invasions in several sites (Hog Island, Lang Tract, Silver Run).  相似文献

We present here the numerical application of the theoretical results derived in Correia et al. (2003, Icarus 163, 1-23) for the spin evolution of Venus since its formation. We explore a large variety of initial conditions to cover the possible formation and evolutionary scenarios. In particular, we pay special attention to the evolutions which cross the chaotic zone resulting from secular planetary perturbations (Laskar and Robutel, 1993, Nature 361, 608-612). We demonstrate that Venus’ axis can be temporarily trapped in a secular resonance with the node of Neptune’s orbit, which can prevent it from being tilted to 180° and will drive it toward 0°. We test several dissipation models and parameters to evaluate their contribution to the planet’s spin history. We confirm that despite the variations in the models, only three of the four final spin states of Venus are possible (Correia and Laskar, 2001, Nature 411, 767-770) and that the present observed retrograde spin state of Venus can be attained by two different processes. In the first scenario (π−), the axis is tilted toward 180° while its rotation rate slows down, while in the second one, the axis is driven toward 0° obliquity and the rotation rate decreases, stops, and increases again in the reverse direction to a final equilibrium value (0−).  相似文献
