Diagnostic modelling of within-water processes in reservoirs

The objectives of diagnostic calculations using mathematical models of reservoirs are formulated. The structure of a box hydrological model GMV-MGU is described, and the results of calculation of daily water balance, internal heat exchange structure, and heat balance of individual areas in the Mozhaisk and Rybinsk reservoirs are given. First results of calculation of variations in mean daily phytoplankton biomass in the near-dam pool of a weakly eutrophic water body in period of spring (diatoms) and summer (blue-green) blooming are presented.     

On the evaluation of displacement and deformation in tidal waves according to digital records of STS-2 and KSESh-R seismometers

A procedure for eliciting displacements in tidal waves from seismograms of broadband velocimeters like STS-2 and KSESH-R and the evaluation conversion of these displacements into vertical or volumetric deformation is proposed.

The geology, hydrodynamics, and the oil and gas potential of the Kosheleva steam-water field in Kamchatka

This paper considers the geology, hydrodynamics, and oil and gas occurrences in the Kosheleva vapor-dominated field related to the activity of the Kosheleva Volcano. The hydrodynamic peculiarities of this field allow the upper boundary of the vapor zone to be outlined. One notes an intimate connection between vapor-dominated hydrothermal occurrences and the occurrences of oil and gas containing heavy hydrocarbons, including even C₇H₁₂, as well as methane.     

Solar corona top heating

The solar magnetic field fragmentation into thin magnetic tubes above the photosphere makes it possible to transform and factorize MHD equations analytically and to obtain explicit expressions for Alfvén and magnetosonic fields. A physical model that enables an explanation of the effect of strong heating of the solar chromosphere and corona has been proposed. This model makes it possible to estimate analytically a powerful Alfvén disturbance entering the chromosphere due to convective motions of the photosphere and a thermal release due to a three-wave interaction within the chromosphere.     

Estimation of the ozone decrease possibility in the lower part of the <Emphasis Type="Italic">D</Emphasis> region under the action of a powerful radiowave

The possibility of the influence of a powerful radiowave on the ozone concentration in the lower part of the ionospheric D region is discussed on the basis of experiments at the Sura heating facility in March 2009, the results of which were published relatively recently by a group of authors. The results, which were obtained with the use of exact equations of the mesospheric ozone photochemistry, substantially disagree with some conclusions derived by the authors but do not completely deny their hypothesis on the possible influence on the ozone of internal gravity waves formed at heights of the ionospheric E region.     

The types of the earth's crust

For the comprehensive mapping of the deep structure of the Earth's crust a determination of the general types of the crust based on its most essential structural parameters is attempted. Three parameters are considered as most informative, and are accepted as basic for this purpose: thickness of the Earth's curst, thickness of the sedimentary layer, and average velocities of compressional waves in the consolidated parts of the crust. Six types of the crust are recognized. A more detailed division of the crust into sub-types has also been worked out.     

The Effect of Aggregation of Impurity Nitrogen on Diamond X-Ray Luminescence

Two samplings of 65 diamond crystals divided by the intensity of a slow X-ray luminescence component are studied from the Arkhangel’skaya and Karpinskogo-1 pipes. IR and EPR spectroscopies revealed a relationship between the nitrogen A and P2 centers of the diamonds and the presence of a slow X-ray luminescence component. Its absence in most diamonds with high content of P1 (C) centers is explained by the low number of A and P2 centers.
