Obtaining geological information from seismic data motivates researchers to innovate and improve seismic wave processing tools. Polarization-based methods have received much attention regarding their ability to discriminate between different phases of the seismic wave based on polarity. Combining the intuitive definition of polarity in the frequency domain (monochromatic waves) with the non-stationary properties provided by time-domain methods, time-frequency approaches are attracting widespread interest because they localize the information extracted from the seismic waves in the joint time and frequency domains. Due to the lack of high-resolution time-frequency maps, the time-frequency polarization approach was not able to resolve specific temporal polarity changes in the seismic signal. The main objective of this study was to devise a robust time-frequency-based polarization filtering method using high-resolution polarization attributes obtained directly from the sparse time-frequency map without using Eigen analysis or analytic signals. The method proposed here utilizes a computationally effective sparsity-based adaptive S-transform to obtain a high-resolution polarization map of an inherently non-stationary seismogram for the entire frequency content of the signal at different times. The superiority of the proposed method over the S-transform method was verified using synthetic and real data sets to calculate the polarization attributes in the time-frequency domain and separate the Rayleigh waves from the seismogram.  相似文献

Human health is strongly influenced by water quality which is threatened by the poor quality of polluted groundwater. In this study, the groundwater quality and its suitability for drinking have been studied in Lenjanat plain aquifer, Iran. Fifty-nine groundwater samples from study area were evaluated based on WHO and Iranian standards for drinking water. Groundwater samples from selected monitoring sources were sampled seasonally during 2009–2010. Physical and chemical parameters of groundwater such as electrical conductivity, pH, total dissolved solids, Ca2+, Na+, K+, Mg2+, HCO3 ?, SO4 2?, Cl?, F? and NO3 ? were determined. During the water quality index calculating process, the weight of each parameter is usually given by experts according to their practical experience, which is subjective, so much useful and valuable information about the water quality gets lost. In order to avoid personal judgments about the weight of parameters, an information entropy method was used to assign weight to each parameter. Calculation of entropy weighted water quality index (EWQI) for groundwater samples showed that in the wet season, over 57 and 74 % of samples were in the range of “excellent” to “medium” quality based on WHO and Iranian standards, respectively. Due to groundwater quality reduction during dry season, 42 and 62 % of samples were in the range of “excellent” to “medium” quality based on WHO and Iranian standards, respectively. The results indicate that application of the EWQI is very useful to help the public and decision-makers will be able to identify and to evaluate groundwater quality in Lenjanat, Iran.  相似文献

The potential mineralization and immobilization of soil nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and sulfur (S) are relatively high in natural ecosystems. This study was conducted to investigate the changes in essential plant macronutrients; N, P, and S status in response to different soil depth in rangeland ecosystems in vitro. The net nutrient mineralization was measured during 90 days at different depths (0–15, 15–30, 30–45 and 45–60 cm), using kinetic models to estimate the release rate. The net ammonification and mineralization of P and S were described using parabolic diffusion equation, while the power function equation was used to describe the net nitrification. The results indicated that the amount of released ammonium (NH4 +) decreased with time and depth and the rates of net ammonification were negative in all samples. Conversely, nitrification increased with time and depth and the rates were all positive. The net mineralization for both P and S reduced with time. The concentration of mineralized SO4 2? increased with depth like nitrate (NO3 ?). Accumulation of SO4 2? and NO3 ? in subsurface soils and NH4 + and P at surface horizons can increase the potential of their loss by leaching or volatilization.  相似文献

Several investigations have recently considered the possible impacts of climate change and seawater level rise on seawater intrusion in coastal aquifers. All have revealed the severity of the problem and the significance of the landward movement of the dispersion zone under the condition of seawater level rise. Most of the studies did not consider the possible effects of the seawater rise on the inland movement of the shoreline and the associate changes in the boundary conditions at the seaside and the domain geometry. Such effects become more evident in flat, low land, coastal alluvial plans where large areas might be submerged with seawater under a relatively small increase in the seawater level. None of the studies combined the effect of increased groundwater pumping, due to the possible decline in precipitation and shortage in surface water resources, with the expected landward shift of the shore line. In this article, the possible effects of seawater level rise in the Mediterranean Sea on the seawater intrusion problem in the Nile Delta Aquifer are investigated using FEFLOW. The simulations are conducted in horizontal view while considering the effect of the shoreline landward shift using digital elevation models. In addition to the basic run (current conditions), six different scenarios are considered. Scenarios one, two, and three assume a 0.5 m seawater rise while the total pumping is reduced by 50%, maintained as per the current conditions and doubled, respectively. Scenarios four, five, and six assume a 1.0 m seawater rise and the total pumping is changed as in the first three scenarios. The shoreline is moved to account for the seawater rise and hence the study domain and the seaside boundary are modified accordingly. It is concluded that, large areas in the coastal zone of the Nile Delta will be submerged by seawater and the coast line will shift landward by several kilometers in the eastern and western sides of the Delta. Scenario six represents the worst case under which the volume of freshwater will be reduced to about 513 km3 (billion m3).  相似文献

The present study examined and compared spatio–temporal interaction of the theft of car parts, shop burglary and motorcycle theft in the central business district (CBD) of the city of Zanjan in Iran. The Knox test was selected to detect spatio–temporal interaction. This test has been criticized as being subjective because the selection of critical distances is arbitrary; thus, a method is proposed to detect critical distances in the Knox test using the mean distance, natural breaks classification of nearest neighbour (NN) distance and Ripley’s k function. Results show obvious differences between the spatio-temporal clusters of the three sets of crimes. They also indicate that changing the spatial cut-offs within a cluster creates different temporal patterns. Of the three criteria for determining critical distances, NN classification based on natural breaks showed more interactions than the other methods.  相似文献

This research compares data from the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission 3B42 V6 with data obtained from 19 synoptic rain gauges during the period 1998–2010 over the semiarid climate of Khorasan Razavi, Iran. Validation was performed using three spatial extents, including 1 TRMM grid face from the synoptic station (1PTRM), 3 TRMM points surrounding the synoptic station (3PTRM) and 5 TRMM points surrounding the synoptic station (5PTRM), using ArcGIS 10.2 software. The perfect and poor r were obtained at stations S08 and S19, with values of 0.92 and 0.26, respectively. According to the Nash–Sutcliffe efficiency coefficient, the TRMM satellite can predict the spatial variation of the mean annual rainfall by 0.23, 0.43 and 0.38 for 1PTRM, 3PTRM and 5PTRM, respectively, at 19 stations. The agreement significantly increases by 0.88, 0.83 and 0.80 for 1PTRM, 3PTRM and 5PTRM, respectively, when gauges S05, S07, S11 and S13 are excluded from the dataset, which may be associated with orographic or instrumental error at the stations.  相似文献

In recent years, the additional risk posed to the built environment due to aftershock sequences and triggered events has been brought to attention, and several efforts have been directed towards developing fragility functions for structures in damaged conditions. Despite this rise of interest, a rather fundamental component for such tasks, namely that of aftershock ground motion record selection, has remained under-scrutinized. Herein, we propose a pragmatic procedure that can be applied for the selection of mainshock-aftershock ground motion pairs using consistent causal parameters and accounting for the correlation between their spectral accelerations. In addition, a structural analysis strategy that can be employed for the analytical derivation of damage-dependent fragility functions is outlined and presented through a case study. A more conventional back-to-back IDA analysis is also carried out in order to compare the derived damage-dependent fragility functions with the ones obtained with the proposed procedure. The results indicate that record selection remains a crucial factor even when assessing the structural vulnerability of damaged buildings, and should thus be treated cautiously.  相似文献

Complicated sedimentary processes control the spatial distribution of geological heterogeneities. This serves to make the nature of the fluid flow in the hydrocarbon reservoirs immensely complex. Proper modeling of these heterogeneities and evaluation of their connectivity are crucial and affects all aspects of fluid flow. Since the natural variability of heterogeneity occurs in a myriad of length scales, accurate modeling of the rock type connectivity requires a very fine scheme, which is computationally very expensive. Hence, this makes other alternative methods such as the percolation approach attractive and necessary. The percolation approach considers the hypothesis that a reservoir can be split into either permeable (sand/fracture) or impermeable rocks (shale/matrix). In this approach, the connectivity of the permeable fraction governs the flow. This method links the global properties of the system to the density of the permeable objects distributed randomly in the system. Moreover, this approach reduces many results to some simple master curves from which all-possible outcomes can be predicted by simple algebraic transformations. The current study contributes to extending the applicability of the methodology to anisotropic systems as well as using the complicated and more realistic sandbody shapes (for example, ellipsoids). This enables us to attain a better assessment of the connectivity and its associated uncertainty of the complicated rock types. Furthermore, to validate the approach, the Burgan reservoir dataset of the Norouz offshore oil field in the south of Iran was used. The findings are in conformity with the percolation approach predictions.  相似文献
