Summary The paper deals with the magnetic properties of the natural minerals haematite, ilmenite and pyrrhotite. The natural remanent magnetization Jn, the volume susceptibility , the specific magnetization of saturation so, the Curie temperature , the A.C. demagnetization of natural remanent magnetization, the thermal demagnetization Jn, the temperature dependence of the specific magnetization of saturation, and several other parameters were determined for the individual sets of minerals. Since natural minerals can and do contain various heterogeneous and isomorphic admixtures, their magnetic properties may change depending on the content and type of these admixtures. Therefore, all the investigations of the magnetic properties described in this paper were carried out with extensive sets of minerals, representing various Czechoslovak and world localities. A number of interesting results were obtained from the executed experiments, e.g., the different stability of the natural remanent magnetization of haematite with respect to A.C. demagnetization, the presence and type of heterogeneous inclusions in ilmenite, the phase changes connected with the -transition in natural pyrrhotites, etc. The types of distributions of the investigated values of the magnetic properties were also determined. 相似文献

Zusammenfassung Es wird der Einfluss des sogenannten Vorticity-Zentrums auf die Grenzfläche zweier Luftmassen der mittleren geographischen Breiten studiert. Zwecks Aufklärung der Rolle des Bewegungs- und Druckfeldes in diesem Prozesse wurde ein einfaches Modell konstruiert und numerisch gelöst. Die sich entwickelnde frontale Welle kann beziehungsweise als ein Anfangswert beim Lösen der mit der Stabilität der Wellen verbundenen Probleme mittels der Gleichungen, linearisiert durch die Methode der kleinen Störungen, dienen. Summary The paper brings a brief geological asessment of the sedimentational cycles, analyses the methods of collection and investigation of samples and the representativeness of the results obtained. Problems of magnetic cleaning and the types of demagnetization curves investigated are discussed. The continuous nature of the variations of the magnetic declination, inclination and remanent magnetization, determined by palaeomagnetic investigation of Quaternary sediments, is also discussed. Summary The theory of secondary vorticity is used to explain the essence of so-called secondary or upper vorticity centres, discovered on satellite photographs. The general equation of vorticity, which is then adjusted by means of the equations of state and motion, is transformed into a specially selected intrinsic co-ordinate system. Three-component equations of vorticity are discussed for cases important meteorologically. The conclusion could be drawn that the secondary vorticity centres may be identified with centres of so-called secondary vorticity and that the theoretical facts about their origin and occurrence may be used, together with satellite photographs, to improve weather forecasts. 相似文献

Summary The dependence of Pn-wave velocities on the heat flow, temperature at the crustmantle boundary and the thickness of the Earth's crust in Europe was investigated in relation to the problem of lateral inhomogeneities in the upper mantle. A map was constructed of the distribution of Pn-wave velocities on the territory of Europe. The relations these investigations yielded, were compared with the results of laboratory experiments and all the results are discussed from the physical point of view. The conclusion drawn is that that temperature and pressure effect provide a sufficient explanation of the observed regional changes of Pn-wave velocities for the European continent.

Summary The magnetic susceptibility of quartz single crystals is diamagnetic (–14×10
–6
in SI units) and exhibits only very small anisotropy (mostly less than 1%); thus the susceptibility of the quartz matrix in quartzite can be regarded as virtually isotropic. Owing to the influence of the negative and isotropic susceptibility of the quartz matrix, the degree of anisotropy of quartzite, as inferred from model calculations, is higher than that of the ferrimagnetic fraction. This influence is very strong if the mean susceptibility of quartzite is in the vicinity of zero.

Summary The changes of the anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility of igneous rocks, induced by a magnetic field, are studied. It is proved that changes in the degree of anisotropy of susceptibility and of the orientation of the susceptibility ellispoid of specimens occur due to the configuration of the domain structure under the effect of the magnetic field. The influence of this effect on the total anisotropy of rocks depends on the degree of anisotropy due to the shape factor and on the stability of the domain structure. A model concept is presented, explaining the qualitatively different pattern of the changes of the anisotropy of susceptibility under the effect of the magnetic field in various directions of the specimens. 相似文献
