The relationship between the velocity of CMEs and the plasma temperature of the associated X-ray solar flares is investigated.The velocity of CMEs increases with plasma temperature(R=0.82)and photon index below the break energy(R=0.60)of X-ray flares.The heating of the coronal plasma appears to be significant with respect to the kinetics of a CME from the reconnection region where the flare also occurs.We propose that the initiation and velocity of CMEs perhaps depend upon the dominant process of conversion of the magnetic field energy of the active region to heating/accelerating the coronal plasma in the reconnected loops.Results show that a flare and the associated CME are two components of one energy release system,perhaps,magnetic field free energy. 相似文献

We have investigated two stiff-fluid models in which the material distribution is that of viscous fluid. In the first model, the coefficient of shear viscosity is assumed to be constant while in the second model the coefficient of shear viscosity is proportional to the rate of expansion in the model. The human–landform interaction in the region of the Ghaggar–Hakra palaeochannel in the northwest Indo-Gangetic plains during the Bronze Age Indus/Harappan civilisation (~4.6–3.9 thousand years before the present, ka bp ) remains an enigmatic case due to a paucity of evidence regarding the hydrology of the then existing river. Here, we estimated the palaeohydrology of the foothill Markanda River in the sub-Himalayan catchment of the Ghaggar–Hakra (G–H) palaeochannel. Our morphology and chronology results show aggradation of a fan (57.7 ka) during the Late Pleistocene and T–1 to T–5 fluvial terraces (13.1 to 6.0 ka) during the terminal Pleistocene to Holocene, and deposition of palaeoflood sediments (3.9–3.8 ka) over the T–3 terraces during the Late Holocene. Considering the known uplift rates along the Himalayan frontal thrust, and our estimated aggradation rates, we derived channel palaeogeometry and calculated peak discharge at the site of palaeoflood deposits. We conclude that the Markanda River's peak discharge was several orders of magnitude higher during the Late Holocene than the modern-day peak discharge of 100-year return period. The palaeoflood deposits represent larger flooding of the foothill rivers that sustained flows in the downstream reaches of the Ghaggar–Hakra palaeochannel during the Late Harappan civilisation. 相似文献

Ambient levels of viable bioaerosol were measured at four different sites on the campus of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, India. Most of the viable bioaerosol was associated with the fungal fraction with the remainder due to bacteria. The highest concentrations of fungi were found at a health center (1,293 cfu/m3). The highest concentrations of both gram-positive (338.8 cfu/m2) and gram-negative (614 cfu/m2) bacteria were found at a garbage dump site. Gram-negative bacteria were found in larger numbers than gram-positive, possibly due to the higher ambient temperatures during their sampling. Most of the fungal bioaerosol identified is associated with immunotoxic diseases such as sick building syndrome and allergic diseases and was found in respirable fractions. Since the bacterial fractions were identified on the basis of morphology, i.e. only to the level of genus, their relationship to health effects could not be established. Although most of the sampling occurred indoors in naturally ventilated buildings, external temperature and humidity did not vary significantly during the study. Thus, it is more likely that the types of organisms and levels observed had more to do with the sources (decomposing garbage, spores carried from wooded areas, etc.) than the ambient or indoor environmental conditions. 相似文献

Abstract Characterization of the seasonal and inter-annual spatial and temporal variability of rainfall in a changing climate is vital to assess climate-induced changes and suggest adequate future water resources management strategies. Trends in annual, seasonal and maximum 30-day extreme rainfall over Ethiopia are investigated using 0.5° latitude?×?0.5° longitude gridded monthly precipitation data. The spatial coherence of annual rainfall among contiguous rainfall grid points is also assessed for possible spatial similarity across the country. The correlation between temporally coinciding North Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation (AMO) index and annual rainfall variability is examined to understand the underlying coherence. In total 381 precipitation grid points covering the whole of Ethiopia with five decades (1951–2000) of precipitation data are analysed using the Mann-Kendall test and Moran spatial autocorrelation method. Summer (July–September) seasonal and annual rainfall data exhibit significant decreasing trends in northern, northwestern and western parts of the country, whereas a few grid points in eastern areas show increasing annual rainfall trends. Most other parts of the country exhibit statistically insignificant trends. Regions with high annual and seasonal rainfall distribution exhibit high temporal and spatial correlation indices. Finally, the country is sub-divided into four zones based on annual rainfall similarity. The association of the AMO index with annual rainfall is modestly good for northern and northeastern parts of the country; however, it is weak over the southern region. Editor Z.W. The present study is an attempt to understand the huge demographic data using GIS at village level. Two blocks from the sub-mountain
Siwalik region of Punjabviz. Mahalpur and Garhshankar were selected. Various thematic maps were prepared using this technique. The inequality of distribution
between various parameters has been studied using Lorenz curve and Ginni coefficient. Both Mahalpur and Garhshankar blocks
are moderately populated blocks with highest population in south western parts. Population density is highest in the areas
adjacent to the Garhshankar and Mahalpur towns. Schedule caste population is well distributed in both the blocks. The average
sex ratio of the study area is 910 females per thousand males which shows that it is not a female deficit area. There are
various villages in these blocks which have sex ratio more than 1000 females per thousand males, which is quite a good sign
for these blocks. The literacy rate of the study area is nearly 57 per cent, which is quite low as compared to district Hoshiarpur
having 81.4 per cent. Comparatively, Mahalpur block has more literate persons as compared to Garhshankar block. Lorenz curve
shows that literate persons are quite evenly distributed. NRI families were around 10 per cent of the total number of families
out of which 8 per cent are in Mahalpur block while remaining 2 per cent are in Garhshankar block. The study brings out important
inferences at the village level by way of pinpointing the exact location of hot spots where action is needed by the planners
