The heat capacities of a rhyolite and an andesite glass and liquid have been investigated from relative-enthalpy measurements made between 400 and 1800 K. For the glass phases, the experimental data agree with empirical models of calculation of the heat capacity. For the liquid phases, the agreement is less good owing to strong interactions between alkali metals and aluminum, which are not currently accounted for by empirical heat capacity models. The viscosity of both liquids has been measured from the glass transition to 1800 K. The temperature dependence of the viscosity is quantitatively related to the configurational heat capacity (determined calorimetrically) through the configurational entropy theory of relaxation processes. For both rhyolite and andesite melts, the heat capacity and viscosity do not differ markedly from those obtained by additive modeling from components with mineral compositions.  相似文献

We present an analysis of the consequences of foreland basin development on thinned continental lithosphere, inherited from pre-orogenic phases of extension. Bathymetry at the transition from pre-orogenic extensional basin to foreland basin and compaction of pre-orogenic sediments contribute to the accommodation space for foreland basin sediments and thrust loads. In addition, the extension-induced transient thermal state of the lithosphere, results in ongoing thermal subsidence, and a flexural rigidity which changes through time. Quantitative modelling of the phase of extension and the foreland basin stage of the Aquitaine basin (southern France) shows that the inherited transient thermal state of the lithosphere contributes significantly to (1) the total foreland basin depth and width, (2) the post-compressional subsidence history, and (3) the cratonward onlap pattern. Accounting for the thermo-mechanical effects of pre-orogenic extension significantly reduces the estimates of both the flexural rigidity (30–43% for the Aquitaine basin) and the required topographic or thrust load (40% for the Aquitaine basin) at foreland basins. Emplacement of thrust loads below sea level, as expected in a pre-orogenic extensional basin setting, further reduces the required topographic load. This sheds light on the wide range of flexural rigidity values reported for continental lithosphere from foreland basin modelling studies, and explains, in many instances, the inferred ‘hidden load’ or subsurface load in flexural modelling studies at foreland basins. The present study has shown that pre-orogenic extension phases significantly affect the record of vertical motion and the stratigraphy of the Aquitaine basin and is probably important for foreland basin evolution in general.  相似文献

Drop calorimetry measurements made between 900 and 1800 K are reported for six MO-SiO2 liquids (M = Li2, K2, SrandBa) and two titanium alkalisilicate melts. These results, together with data from the literature, are used to derive a model for calculating the heat capacity of Al-free silicate melts as a function of temperature and chemical composition. Twenty-one major or minor oxides have been considered and, except for K2O-bearing melts, the available data do not indicate deviations of the heat capacities from an additive function of composition. Simple energy calculations show that large variations of the temperature of the liquids result in structural changes of a magnitude similar to those of crystal-liquid transitions. It is suggested that network-modifier cations play an important role in changing the configuration of the liquid in response to temperature variations. The specificity of the behavior of the cations is shown by the lack of a simple relationship between the heat capacities of the liquids and characteristics of the alkali and alkaline-earth cations such as ionic potential or field strength.  相似文献

The study of continental effluents discharged into the marine environment has enabled us to show that phosphate ion concentration does not follow the linear law of dilution exhibited by a true solution. We were able to show that the dilution of sewage in seawater allows the particles and colloids to desorb phosphate ions, thus increasing the amount of already dissolved inorganic phosphate.  相似文献

Systematic experimental studies on partial melting and subsolidus equilibration of three reconstituted spinel-peridotites have been carried out at temperatures ranging from 1000 to 1380℃ and pressures of 1.0 and 1.5 GPa. The results shows (1) during partial melting, Mg# [=Mg/(Mg+Fe)]and Cr# [=Cr/(Cr-Al)]of spinel increase with an increase in degrees of melting) (2) during subsolidus equilibration, with increasing temperatures, Mg# of spinel increases but Cr# of spinel remains almost unchanged in dunite and increases slightly in Iherzolite and harzburgite. The negative and quasi-linear Mg# -Cr# correlation of spinel represents an isotherm of total non-equilibrium. The same results have been obtained by means of mathematical modelling. It is also proved by Mg# -Cr# correlation of spinel in natural peridotites. As a result of the spinel subsolidus equilibration, only variation of Cr# of spinel is limited, and then Cr# of spinel can be used to estimate the relative degree of melting undergone by host rocks  相似文献

Spatial modeling methods usually use pixels and image objects as fundamental processing units to address real‐world objects, geo‐objects, in image space. To do this, both pixel‐based and object‐based approaches typically employ a linear two‐staged workflow of segmentation and classification. Pixel‐based methods segment a classified image to address geo‐objects in image space. In contrast, object‐based approaches classify a segmented image to identify geo‐objects from raster datasets. These methods lack the ability to simultaneously integrate the geometry and theme of geo‐objects in image space. This article explores Geographical Vector Agents (GVAs) as an automated and intelligent processing unit to directly address real‐world objects in the process of remote sensing image classification. The GVA is a distinct type of geographic automata characterized by elastic geometry, dynamic internal structure, neighborhoods and their respective rules. We test this concept by modeling a set of objects on a subset IKONOS image and LiDAR DSM datasets without the setting parameters (e.g. scale, shape information), usually applied in conventional Geographic Object‐Based Image Analysis (GEOBIA) approaches. The results show that the GVA approach achieves more than 3.5% improvement for correctness, 2% improvement for quality, although no significant improvement for completeness to GEOBIA, thus demonstrating the competitive performance of GVAs classification.  相似文献

During the last earthquake that occurred in Chlef (El Asnam 1980, Algeria), a significant decrease in the shear strength has caused major damages to several civil and hydraulic structures (earth dams, embankments, bridges, slopes and buildings), especially for the saturated sandy soil of the areas near Chlef valley. This paper presents a laboratory study of drained compression triaxial tests conducted on sandy soil reinforced with horizontal layers of geotextile, in order to study the influence of geotextile layer characteristics both on shear stress–strain and on volumetric change–strain. Tests were carried out on medium and dense sand. The experimental programme includes some drained compression tests performed on reinforced sand samples, for different values of the geotextile layers number (N g), of confining pressure (\( \sigma_{\text{c}}^{\prime } \)) and relative density (D r). The test results have shown that the contribution of the geotextile at low values of the axial strain (ε 1) is negligible, for higher values of (ε 1); geotextile induces a quasi-linear increase in the deviator stress (q) and leads to an increase in the volume contractiveness within the reinforced samples. A negligible influence of geotextile layers number (N g) on the stress–strain behaviour and the volumetric change has been shown, when normalized with N g. The results indicate that the contribution of geotextile to the stress–strain mobilization increases with increasing confining pressure, while its contribution to the volume contraction decreases with the increase in the confining pressure.  相似文献
