Static deformation of two monoclinic elastic half-spaces in welded contact due to a long inclined strike-slip fault situated in one of the half-spaces is studied analytically and numerically. Closed-form algebraic expressions for the displacement at any point of the medium are obtained. The variation of the displacement at the interface with the horizontal distance from the fault is studied. The effect of anisotropy on the displacement field is examined. It is found that while the anisotropy of the source half-space has a significant effect on the displacement at the interface, the anisotropy of the other half-space has only a marginal effect.  相似文献

Additional latest Middle Cambrian polymerid trilobites are recorded from the Teta Member (Karsha Formation) along the Tangze-Yogma-Kuru section, Kurgiakh Valley, southeastern Zanskar, Northwest Himalaya. It includes record of a new genus Pianspis Saito & Sakakuru, 1936 of family Lisianiidae and others associated fauna comprises of Neoanomocarella asiatica (Lisianiidae), Parablackwelderia sp., (Damesellidae) and two undetermined pygidium and one unidentified cranidia. All these specimens are collected from the level representing the Lejopyge acantha Zone of Guzhangian Stage (Cambrian Series 3) of the Middle Cambrian. The fauna is mainly correlated with the South China, North Korea, Kazakhastan, Uzbekistan, Siberia and Australia.  相似文献

The southwestern region of Australia contains the Yilgarn Craton that has been exposed to subaerial weathering since mid-Proterozoic. The gently undulating landscape experienced lateritic weathering so that today variably dissected, deep in situ isovolumetrically weathered regolith is widespread. Imposition of a more arid climate since the Miocene with the cessation of effective external drainage has resulted in substantial geochemical modification of the highly porous regolith. This vast pore volume acts as a reservoir for complex solutions that may be highly saline, extremely acid to alkaline and reducing. Diverse precipitates have formed in the regolith including widespread occurrence of silcrete, calcrete, dolocrete, ferricrete and gypcrete together with localised occurrences of pyrite, alunite, jarosite, barite, halite and other salts. Clearing of bush land for agriculture in the 20th century increased recharge so that rising chemically active groundwaters are damaging farmland and infrastructure throughout the region. Sediment samples collected in the Moradabad area, lying in the interfluve of the Ganga and Ramganga Rivers, were analysed for heavy metals, after studying the geomorphology of the area. Geomorphologically, the area can be divided into three terraces - the T0, T1 and T2 surfaces. The rivers on these three surfaces show varying amounts of pollution depending upon the input from industries and urban settlements. The Ramganga River on the T0 surface shows the highest amount of pollution. However, the pollution levels in all these rivers show a downstream dilution effect. The characteristic feature of the vast interfluve area (T2 surface) is the presence of several, independent basins which are closed and rarely interact with each other or with any river. The sediments are redistributed and redeposited within the basin itself, and thus these basins serve as sinks. The sediments of one such basin in the study area show significant concentrations of arsenic, chromium, copper, nickel, lead, zinc and organic carbon. The concentrations of heavy metals in such a basin will show exponential increases with time, because there is no activity to funnel out the sediments and dilute the effect of pollution. This increase will pose more threats, as ultimately it will make its way laterally and vertically through the sediments, thereby polluting groundwater.  相似文献

Starting from some known solutions a class of new perfect fluid solutions of Bianchi type I are presented. Observations of whistlers during quiet times made at low-latitude ground station Nainital (geomag. lat. 19 1 N) are used to deduce plasmasphere-ionosphere coupling fluxes. The whistler data from 3 magnetically quiet days are presented that show a smooth decrease in dispersion with time. This decrease in dispersion is interpreted in terms of a corresponding decrease in electron content of tubes of ionization. The electron densities, electron tube contents (1016 el/m2-tube) and coupling fluxes (10 el m–1 s–2) are computed by means of an accurate curve fitting method developed by Tarcsai (1975) and are in good agreement with the results reported by other workers.  相似文献

On the basis of evolutionary tracks on the HR diagram the lower limit of initial mass functions for Wolf-Rayet stars are estimated. The lower limit to the initial masses of the Wolf-Rayet stars seems to be 20M and in this respect there is no significant difference between the WN and WC stars.  相似文献

In this paper we present a method for computing the equilibrium structures and various physical parameters of a primary component of the binary system assuming that the primary is more massive than the secondary and is rotating differentially according to the law of the w2 = b0 + b1 × s2 + b2 × s4, w being the angular velocity of rotation of a fluid element distant s from the axis of rotation and b0, b1, b2 suitably chosen numerical constants. This method utilizes the averaging approach of Kippenhahn and Thomas (1997) and the concept of Roche equipotentials in a manner earlier used by Mohan et al. (1997) to incorporate the effects of rotation and tidal distortions on the equilibrium structures of certain rotationally and tidally distorted stellar models. The use of the method has been illustrated by applying it to obtain the structures and some observable parameters of certain differentially rotating and tidally distorted binary systems whose primary component is assumed to be a white dwarf star.  相似文献

Employing a realistic ionospheric model and a suitable energetic electron spectra, detailed power calculations are carried out to confirm the generation mechanism of low-latitude VLF emissions observed both in the satellites and on the ground. Raypaths of the radiated waves are also calculated to account for the attenuation and spreading losses. It is shown that 100 eV?1 keV electrons radiating incoherently in the Cerenkov mode are the main sources of these emissions.  相似文献
