Fast forward interplanetary (IP) shocks have been identified as a source of large geomagnetic disturbances. However, the shocks can evolve in the solar wind, they are modified by interaction with the bow shock and during their propagation through the magnetosheath. A few previous papers refer the inclination and deceleration of the IP shock front in this region. Our contribution continues this effort and presents the study of an IP shock interaction with the bow shock. Since the bow shock is a reversed fast shock, the interaction of the IP shock and bow shock is a problem of interaction of two fast MHD shocks.

We compare profiles of magnetic field and plasma parameters observed by several spacecraft in the solar wind and magnetosheath with the profiles of the same parameters resulting from the MHD numerical model. The MHD model suggests that the interaction of an IP shock with the bow shock results in an inward bow shock displacement that is followed by its outward motion. Such motion will result in an indentation propagating along the bow shock surface. This scenario is confirmed by multipoint observations. Moreover, the model confirms also previous suggestions on the IP shock deceleration in the magnetosheath.  相似文献

Parameterizations of normal atmospheric modes (NAMs) and orographic gravity waves (OGWs) are implemented into the mechanistic general circulation model of the middle and upper atmosphere (MUA). Numerical experiments of sudden stratospheric warming (SSW) events are performed for climatological conditions typical for January and February using meteorological reanalysis data from the UK MET Office in the MUA model averaged over the years 1992–2011 with the easterly phase of quasi-biennial oscillation (QBO). The simulation shows that an increase in the OGW amplitudes occurs at altitudes higher than 30 km in the Northern Hemisphere after SSW. The OGW amplitudes have maximums at altitudes of about 50 km over the North American and European mountain systems before and during SSW, as well as over the Himalayas after SSW. At high latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere, significant (up to 50–70%) variations in the amplitudes of stationary planetary waves (SPWs) are observed during and after the SSW. Westward travelling NAMs have local amplitude maximums not only in the Northern Hemisphere, but also in the Southern Hemisphere, where there are waveguides for the propagation of these modes. Calculated variations of SPW and NAM amplitudes correspond to changes in the mean temperature and wind fields, as well as the Eliassen-Palm flux and atmospheric refractive index for the planetary waves, during SSW. Including OGW thermal and dynamical effects leads to an increase in amplitude (by 30–70%) of almost all SPWs before and during SSW and to a decrease (up to 20–100%) after the SSW at middle and high latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere.  相似文献

A classification suggested for alkaline ultramafic rocks of the Ary-Mastakh and Staraya Rechka fields, Northern Anabar Shield, is based on the modal mineralogical composition of the rocks and the chemical compositions of their rock-forming and accessory minerals. Within the framework of this classification, the rocks are indentified as orangeite and alkaline ultramafic lamprophyres: aillikite and damtjernite. To estimate how much contamination with the host rocks has modified their composition when the diatremes were formed, the pyroclastic rocks were studied that abound in xenogenic material (which is rich in SiO2, Al2O3, K2O, Rb, Pb, and occasionally also Ba) at relatively low (La/Yb)PM, (La/Sm)PM, and not as much also (Sm/Zr)PM and (La/Nb)PM ratios. The isotopic composition of the rocks suggests that the very first melt portions were of asthenospheric nature. The distribution of trace elements and REE indicates that one of the leading factors that controlled the diversity of the mineralogical composition of the rocks and the broad variations in their isotopic–geochemical and geochemical characteristics was asthenosphere–lithosphere interaction when the melts of the alkaline ultramafic rocks were derived. The melting processes involved metasomatic vein-hosted assemblages of carbonate and potassic hydrous composition (of the MARID type). The alkaline ultramafic rocks whose geochemistry reflects the contributions of enriched vein assemblages to the lithospheric source material, occur in the northern Anabar Shield closer to the boundary between the Khapchan and Daldyn terranes. The evolution of the aillikite melts during their ascent through the lithospheric mantle could give rise to damtjernite generation and was associated with the separation of a C–H–O fluid phase. Our data allowed us to distinguish the evolutionary episodes of the magma-generating zone during the origin of the Triassic alkaline ultramafic rocks in the northern Anabar Shield.  相似文献

We have developed a parameterization of the dynamical and thermal effects of stationary orographic waves (SOWs) generated by the earth’s surface topography and included it into the general circulation model of the middle and upper atmosphere. We have analyzed the sensitivity of atmospheric general circulation at tropospheric to thermospheric altitudes to the impact of SOWs propagating from the troposphere. Changes in atmospheric circulation due to variations in the SOW generation and propagation have been considered for different seasons. It has been shown that, during solstices, the main dynamical and thermal impacts the middle atmosphere of winter hemispheres, where the SOW-induced changes in the velocity of zonal circulation can reach 30%. During equinoxes, the SOW impact is distributed more homogeneously between the Northern and Southern hemispheres, and the relative changes in the velocity of zonal circulation of the middle atmosphere may constitute 10%.  相似文献

The investigation of the solar wind and geomagnetic activity parameters' effect on variations of the orbital motion periods of artificial satellites has been continued. The periods of orbital motion of uncontrolled satellites from the database of the Ukrainian network of optical stations (UNOS) for 2012–2014 was used. The data have been compared with the values of geomagnetic planetary index K and the energy spectra of protons and electrons obtained by the GEOS satellites in events during which the orbital periods have changed. It is shown that, in the energy spectra of the proton and electron fluxes, there is no effect of softening the spectrum with time at the time of the flare appearance. This indicates the possibility of particle accumulation above the active region (AR), which entails further continuous energy emission of the solar flare from AR. Dependences have been obtained between the geomagnetic activity and the solar wind speed at a given interplanetary magnetic field strength during the periods under study for the changes in the orbital motion periods of satellites. We describe the modifications made in the design of the Kyiv meridian axial circle (MAC) and in the observation technique after the instrument was equipped with a CCD camera with an array of 1040×1160 pixels. The observations are performed in the drift-scan mode (time-delay imaging) with an effective exposure time of 108 s for equatorial stars. The MAC photometric system reproduces the standard V system; the limiting magnitude is V = 17 m . The observations made with the modified MAC in 2001–2003 served as the basis for the KMAC1 catalog which contains positions, proper motions, and magnitudes B, V, R, r′, J for 100 000 stars in the sky areas with the ICRF objects. The errors of positions and V magnitudes in the catalog are 50–90 mas and 0.1 m , respectively, for stars with V = 15 m . Stars in the equatorial sky areas and radio stars are presently observed with the aim to determine their exact positions, proper motions, and magnitudes. The catalogs are available in the data base of the Centre de Données Astronomiques de Strasbourg (ftp.cdsarc.u-strasbg.fr) and on the site of the Main Astronomical Observatory (http://www.mao.kiev.ua).  相似文献

We present the results ofthe determination of projected rotationvelocities of several Algol-like irregularvariable stars with Hα-emission(ALIVARS). The mean rotation velocity ofthe ALIVARS <v·sin·i>AAis less than that of the starsof luminosity classes V. This fact can beconsidered as an evidence of a ratheradvanced evolution status of the ALIVARS. FTIR microspectroscopic data were used to construct two-dimension maps showing the distribution of structural impurities and mineral microinclusions in cubic and coated octahedral diamond crystals from the Udachnaya kimberlite pipe in Yakutia. Elevated concentrations of hydrogen and total nitrogen are detected in parts corresponding to the early growth of single-episode growth regions of diamond crystals. These concentrations decrease toward the peripheral portions of these regions. The microinclusions contain water and polyphase mineral associations that preserve a high residual pressure. Microinclusions in the coats of octahedral diamond crystals are dominated by silicates, in which the intensity of IR spectral bands increases toward the peripheries, whereas the cubes posses irregularly distributed domains rich in these phases. The carbonate phases of the microinclusions are distributed according to growth zones of the crystals, and their distribution is often not correlated with the concentrations of structural impurities. The facts that microinclusions in the diamond cuboids are dominated by carbonates and that the rims of the octahedra are dominated by silicates suggest that the diamonds crystallized from dominantly carbonate and silicate fluids/ melts, respectively. The chemical composition of the microinclusions point to an eclogitic paragenesis of the crystals. Facts are obtained that provide support for the earlier hypothesis that cubic diamond crystals and coated octahedral crystals grow at metasomatic interaction between deep fluids and eclogitic rocks in the lithospheric mantle.  相似文献
