The magneto-rotational evolution of a neutron star in the massive binary system 4U 2206+54 is discussed in light of the recent
discovery of its 5555 s rotational period and its average rate of spin-down. We show that this behavior of the neutron star
means that its magnetic field exceeds the quantum mechanical critical limit and it is an accretion magnetar. The system’s
evolution is explained by wind driven mass transfer without formation of an accretion disk. The constant character of the
x-ray source indicates a steady rate of accretion and raises anew the question of the stability of the boundary of the magnetosphere
of a star undergoing spherical accretion. A solution to this problem is also a key to determining the mechanism for the slowing

We analyze the randomness of the sky distribution of cosmic gamma-ray bursts. These events are associated with massive galaxies,

This paper describes the final stage of the study of the Geminid meteoroid stream formation and evolution using the nested polynomials method reported by Ryabova (in: Warmbein (ed.) Meteoroids 2001, Proc. of the Internat. Conf., Kiruna, Sweden, 6–10 August 2001; MNRAS 375:1371–1380, 2007). In the previous work we discussed possibility to calibrate the model using the shape of the model activity profiles and configuration of orbital parameters. Here we show that the radiant structure also could be utilized for this purpose, since the model radiant structure has a very specific pattern. Model area of radiation does not have a “classical” prolate linear shape, and the configuration of activity centers has a “V” shape. During one night of simulated observations several activity centers could be observed. The model produced maps of the velocity distribution in the radiant area. 相似文献

The possible avenues for photoelectron transport were determined during southern hemisphere winter at Mars by using a mapping analysis of the theoretical magnetic field. Magnetic field line tracing was performed by superposing two magnetic field models: (1) magnetic field derived from a three-dimensional (3D) self-consistent quasi-neutral hybrid model which does not contain the Martian crustal magnetic anomalies and (2) a 3D map of the magnetic field associated with the magnetic anomalies based on Mars Global Surveyor magnetic field measurements. It was found that magnetic field lines connected to the nightside of the planet are mainly channeled within the optical shadow of the magnetotail whereas magnetic field lines connected to the dayside of the planet are observed to form the remainder of the magnetosphere. The simulation suggests that the crustal anomalies create “a magnetic shield” by decreasing the region near Mars which is magnetically connected to the Martian magnetosphere. The rotation of Mars causes periodic changes in magnetic connectivity, but not to qualitative changes in the overall magnetic field draping around Mars. 相似文献
