Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) is one of the new techniques which will probably dominate geodesy and geophysics in the near future. Its main advantage lies in the fact that it brings the accuracy of direction measurements to a level previously possible only for range measurements. This closes the gap between powerful range determination techniques such as laser ranging and the much less accurate determination of directions through photographic tracking of artificial earth satellites. The technique is geometric in the sense that the relevant observations are independent of the gravity field of the earth. However, the “orbits” of the observed extragalactic radio sources with respect to an earth-fixed system are dominated and perturbed by the rotation of the earth with respect to inertial frame. This allows the determination of polar motion, precession-nutation and length-of-the-day variations, and the technique becomes also “dynamic” in this respect. The capability of determining the geometry of a network of stations within a short time interval and with a centimeter level accuracy also allows the study of the variation of network geometry with time caused by earth tides and other periodic or secular station drifts. The main objective of the present work is the exploration of the capabilities of VLBI for the recovery of earth rotation and network geometry parameters. For this purpose, a number of characteristic experimental designs based on present and candidate for the near future station locations is chosen. The results from the analysis of simulated observations for each particular design are presented in the paper. Zusammenfassung Die Arbeit beschreibt die stratigraphische Einteilung der Paläogen-Serie des Magura-Flysches in Ost-Mähren und der West-Slowakei. Die lithologischen Änderungen der stratigraphischen Glieder des Magura-Flysches werden charakterisiert. Auf Grund der qualitativen und quantitativen Analysen wurden die lithofaziellen Zonen in der unteren und oberen Abteilung des Paläogens festgestellt (V. Pesl).Die sedimentologische Untersuchung befaßte sich mit den Texturen der Sandsteine, mit Messungen von Strömungsmarken, mit Schwermineral-Assoziationen, um die Entstehung der Flyschsedimente dieses Gebietes zu erklären (I. Krystek).
The paper gives survey and the results of the lithological and facial division and of the sedimentological studies in the paleogene of the Magura flysch group in Eastern Moravia and Western Slovakia.

Atmospheric NO2 content data obtained from regular ground-based measurements of solar IR radiation in the St. Petersburg region using a spectrometer with a high spectral resolution are analyzed. The absorption spectra of the NO2 multiplet in the vicinity of ~2915 cm?1 allow one to obtain data on variations in the stratospheric total content of NO2 in 2009–2011. The accuracy of these data is estimated from their comparison with data obtained from independent ground-based and satellite measurements. The parameters of the seasonal cycle of the stratospheric content of NO2 are estimated. The body of data accumulated during these measurements in the IR region made it possible to isolate the component of a daytime photochemical increase in the stratospheric content of NO2 and estimate its rate.  相似文献

In the summer of 1984, a three-dimensional, high-resolution microearthquake network was operated in the vicinity of two coal mines beneath Gentry Mountain in the eastern Wasatch Plateau, Utah. During a six-week period, approximately 3,000 seismic events were observed of which the majority were impulsive, higher frequency (>10 Hz), short duration (<2–3 sec) events probably associated with the caving of the roof from a longwall operation. In contrast, 234 of the largest located events appeared to occur predominantlybeneath the mines to a depth of 2 to 3 km consistent with previous studies. The magnitudes of these events ranged from less thanM c 0 to 1.6. In addition to the unusual depths of these latter events, an anomalous aspect displayed by the events was an apparent dilatational focal mechanism suggesting a non-double-couple, possibly implosional source. Implosional events have been observed in other studies of mine seismicity; however, the generally inadequate instrumental coverage of the focal sphere has cast some doubt on the validity of such mechanisms. Previously suggested source mechanisms for such implosional events have included tensional failure through strata collapse, and a shear-implosional displacement mechanism. Shear failure must be involved in the failure process of the Gentry Mountain implosional events as evidenced by well-defined shear waves in the observed seismograms. Simultaneous monitoring in the East Mountain coal mining area to the south by the University of Utah revealed typical shear failure events mixed with implosional events. The observed double-couple, reverse focal mechanisms at East Mountain were similar to mechanisms determined in previous studies and a composite focal mechanism determined in this study for a sequence outside the mining areas. This suggested that the shear events within the mining areas are being influenced by the regional tectonic stress field. Thus in addition to the seismic events associated with caving of the roof from the longwall operation, there appear to be at least two other types of mining-induced seismic events occurring in the eastern Wasatch Plateau, both submine in origin: (1) events characterized by apparent non-double-couple possibly implosional focal mechanisms and well-defined shear waves; and (2) shear events, which are indistinguishable from tectonic earthquakes and may be considered mining triggered earthquakes. The small mining-induced stress changes that occur beyond a few hundred meters from the mine workings suggest both types of seismic events are occurring on critically stressed, pre-existing zones of weakness. Topography, overburden, method of mining, and mine configuration also appear to be significant factors influencing the occurrence of the implosional submine events.  相似文献

What are the effects of transitioning traditionally managed fisheries to incentive-based catch shares fisheries? In a study of all major United States federal catch share fisheries and associated shared stock fisheries in British Columbia, catch shares result in environmental improvements, economic improvements, and a mixture of changes in social performance, relative to the race for fish under traditional management. Environmentally, compliance with total allowable catch increases and discards decrease. Economically, vessel yields rise, total revenues grow, and long-term stock increases are encouraged. Socially, safety increases, some port areas modestly consolidate, needed processing capacity often reduces, and labor markets shift from part time jobs to full time jobs with similar total employment. Newer catch shares address many social concerns through careful design.  相似文献

Presented paper describes the basic principles and features of the implementation of a robotic network of optical telescopes MASTER, designed to study the prompt (simultaneous with gamma radiation) optical emission of gamma-ray bursts and to perform the sky survey to detect unknown objects and transient phenomena. With joint efforts of Sternberg astronomical institute, High altitude astronomical station of the Pulkovo observatory, Ural state university, Irkutsk state university, Blagoveshchensk pedagogical university, the robotic telescopes MASTER?II near Kislovodsk, Yekaterinburg, Irkutsk and Blagoveshchensk were installed and tested. The network spread over the longitudes is greater than 6?h. A further expansion of the network is considered.  相似文献

The Bear Brook Watershed in Maine (BBWM) is a long-term research site established to study the response of forest ecosystem function to environmental disturbances of chronic acidic deposition and ecosystem nitrogen enrichment. Starting in 1989, the West Bear (treated) watershed received bimonthly applications of ammonium sulfate [(NH4)2SO4] fertilizer from above the canopy, whereas East Bear (reference) received ambient deposition. The treatments were stopped in 2016, marking the beginning of the recovery phase. Research at the site has focused on soils, streams, and vegetation. Here, we describe data collected over three decades at the BBWM—input and stream output nutrient fluxes, quantitative soil pits and soil chemistry, and soil temperature and moisture.  相似文献

Abstract— Five small, weathered meteorites recovered from Roosevelt County, New Mexico, USA, are called Roosevelt County 066–070. Based on optical microscopy and electron microprobe analysis of mafic minerals, RC 066–070 are classified as L5a chondrites. RC 068 and 069 are tentatively paired. RC 066 and RC 067 are not paired with RC 068 and RC 069. RC 066, 067 and 070 do not appear to be paired with each other or with RC 001–031.  相似文献
