Dust particles exposed to the stellar radiation and wind drift radially inward by the Poynting-Robertson (P-R) drag and pile up at the zone where they begin to sublime substantially. The reason they pile up or form a ring is that their inward drifts due to the P-R drag are suppressed by stellar radiation pressure when the ratio of radiation pressure to stellar gravity on them increases during their sublimation phases. We present analytic solutions to the orbital and mass evolution of such subliming dust particles, and find their drift velocities at the pileup zone are almost independent of their initial semimajor axes and masses. We derive analytically an enhancement factor of the number density of the particles at the outer edge of the sublimation zone from the solutions. We show that the formula of the enhancement factor reproduces well numerical simulations in the previous studies. The enhancement factor for spherical dust particles of silicate and carbon extends from 3 to more than 20 at stellar luminosities L?=0.8-500L, where L is solar luminosity. Although the enhancement factor for fluffy dust particles is smaller than that for spherical particles, sublimating particles inevitably form a dust ring as long as their masses decrease faster than their surface areas during sublimation. The formulation is applicable to dust ring formation for arbitrary shape and material of dust in dust-debris disks as well as in the Solar System.  相似文献

A continuous observation system of ship drift of ferry boats was developed using Loran C, ship direction, ship speed and wind velocity measurement. A formula to estimate the wind-driven lateral drift of the boat is proposed, and a measuring system of the surface current is described, including a discussions on its usefullness to monitor day-to-day variations of the circulation patterns in the coastal boundary regions of the Kuroshio.This system was applied to observe variations of the circulation in the Kumano-nada, and Enshu-nada Seas south of Japan. Some preliminary results were obtained by using this system as well as other methods. This work focuses on the behavior of warm eddies in the Kumano-nada Sea. The surface current patterns that include these phenomena obtained by the use of the ship drift show good correspondence with currents and thermal structures observed with GEK, CTD, moored current meters and satellite thermal images.  相似文献

This simulation study shows how widely different model approaches can be adapted to model the evolution of the excavation disturbed zone (EDZ) around a heated nuclear waste emplacement drift in fractured rock. The study includes modeling of coupled thermal-hydrological-mechanical (THM) processes, with simplified consideration of chemical coupling in terms of time-dependent strength degradation or subcritical crack growth. The different model approaches applied in this study include boundary element, finite element, finite difference, particle mechanics, and elasto-plastic cellular automata methods. The simulation results indicate that thermally induced differential stresses near the top of the emplacement drift may cause progressive failure and permeability changes during the first 100 years (i.e., after emplacement and drift closure). Moreover, the results indicate that time-dependent mechanical changes may play only a small role during the first 100 years of increasing temperature and thermal stress, whereas such time-dependency is insignificant after peak temperature, because of decreasing thermal stress.  相似文献

The thermal diffusivity of synthetic polycrystalline stishovite was determined by the Ångstrom method in the temperature range 300–550 K at 1 atm. The calculated thermal conductivity of stishovite at 300 K is 0.086 W cm?1 K?1 which is comparable to that for TiO2-rutile but much lower than for GeO2 and SnO2. The observed thermal conductivities of rutile-structure oxides increase systematically with increasing density, in contrast with the expected behavior for isostructural compounds.  相似文献

Aquatic macrophytes produce large amounts of organic matter and have an essential structuring role in floodplains. This process highlights the importance of this community to aquatic biodiversity maintenance. We investigated the role of a flood disturbance on the response of macrophyte assemblages in regional and local structuring in the Upper Paraná River floodplain. Plant species were recorded before (November 2006) and after (March 2007) an uncommon increase in water level caused by the El Niño South Oscillation, which is considered a disturbance. Samples were taken in lakes and backwaters located in the floodplain and connected to three distinct rivers (that differentiate three sub-systems). Species richness and the assemblage structure of macrophyte patches underwent significant changes after the flood disturbance, depending on the specific sub-system (rivers) to which the lakes were connected. In addition, flood disturbance had a strong impact on community organization at the local scale. However, regionalization with respect to sub-systems remained significant after the flood disturbance. Our results emphasize the importance of connection to the river on macrophyte community composition and richness, and suggest that flood events in the Upper Paraná River floodplain disrupt community organization only at fine (local) scales.  相似文献

Treatment of aromatic ring compounds, 2,4-dichlorophenoxy acetic acid (2,4-D), 2,4,5-trichloro-phenoxy acetic acid (2,4,5-T), and bisphenol A, in the artificial seawater, i.e. Allen seawater, was carried out by ozonation and titanium dioxide (TiO2) photocatalyst treatment. Each compound was degraded and varnished within 30 min by only ozonolysis at pH 9.0 and at 20 degrees C, while the TOC value of each compound decreased gradually but reached almost constant value, i.e. about 70-80% of the initial value, at even 30 min of ozonation time. Ozonolysis (30 min of ozonation time) followed by TiO2 photocatalyst treatment (50h of reaction time) was a very effective method for decreasing the TOC values of aromatic ring compounds in the artificial seawater. In consequence, TOC values of 2,4-D, 2,4,5-T, and bisphenol A could be reduced to about 28, 21, and 34% of their initial values, respectively.  相似文献

This letter deals with the backscattering of millimeter pulsed beam waves from hydrometeors. A new approach is presented for a solution of time-dependent three-dimensional vector radiative transfer equation for the Stokes vectors to study the multiple-scattering effects of beam waves on radar echoes. General solutions for beam waves are derived in an integral form without any approximation. They are given in numerically tractable forms representing the scattering process in the space and time domain. Time-dependent second-order solutions for radar echoes of pulsed beam waves are straightforwardly obtained to predict multiple-scattering effects depending on the variation of an incident beam size. It is shown that the inhomogeneity of the radial direction of beam waves causes the mode coupling of waves between the azimuth directions in the scattering matrix, and that the mode coupling depends on the ratio of the incident beam size to the total mean free path length of the medium  相似文献

Main spawning and nursery grounds of the Pacific Sardine are formed in the coastal boundary regions of the Kuroshio S of Kyushu and S of Honshu, respectively. Numerical experiments on the transport and dispersion of particles in and neighbouring areas of the Kuroshio were done to investigate the transport process of the fish eggs and larvae from the spawning ground to the downstream nursery ground. Surface currents measured with GEK in the past were averaged for both paths with and without large meanders of the Kuroshio in the S of Honshu and used as the data basis. Particles were released in the Kuroshio SE of Kyushu. The results show that the transport rate of them into the S coastal waters of Honshu during large meandered path is larger than the rate during the straight path period. However, recruitment rates of the Pacific Sardine in the S coastal waters of Honshu decreases during the large meander periods of the Kuroshio path. This inverse correlation is considered to be caused by the poorer food environment strongly influenced by the intrusion of the Kuroshio water.  相似文献
