Chemical, physical, and biological features of streams and ground water of the North-Eastern area of Rome are jointly analyzed
in order to assess the status of water resources. Ground water was investigated with classical survey methods (pH, temperature,
and electric conductivity). Microbiological pollution, faunal composition, and stream surrounding area conditions of surface
waters were studied, in order to quantify the residual value of these ecosystems from both a human and an environmental point
of view. Results show a general impairment of the system and the comparison between superficial waters and shallow ground
waters makes it possible to detect the presence of a connection between the two levels. This relationship occurs as an exchange
from superficial waters (streams and rivers) to the shallow aquifers. Where superficial waters are contaminated, as in the
Tor Sapienza stream, pollutants move to the shallow aquifers too, due to the decreased pressure of the over-exploited aquifer.
Moreover, uncontrolled drilling activity, diffused in urban areas, makes it possible the connection between shallow and deep
ground water. Notwithstanding this, the mixing between superficial and deep ground water system in Rome is not very widespread

A CE-5T1 spacecraft completed a high-speed skip re-entry to the earth after a circumlunar flight on October 31, 2014. In addition to the strapdown inertial navigation system (SINS), a lightweight GPS receiver with rapid acquisition was developed as a navigation sensor in the re-entry capsule. The GPS receiver effectively solved the poor accuracy problem of long-term navigation using only the SINS. In contrast to ground users and low-earth-orbit spacecraft, numerous factors, including high altitude and kinetic characteristics in high-speed skip re-entry, are important for GPS positioning feasibility and were presented in accordance with the flight data. GPS solutions started at nearly 4900 km orbital altitude during the phases of re-entry process. These solutions were combined by an inertial measurement unit in a loosely coupled integrated navigation method and SINS navigation initialization. A simplified GPS/SINS navigation filter for limited resources was effectively developed and implemented on board for spacecraft application. Flight data estimation analyses, including trajectory, attitude, position distribution of GPS satellite, and navigation accuracy, were presented. The estimated accuracy of position was better than 42 m, and the accuracy of velocity was better than 0.1 m/s. 相似文献

For many years, information on the solar mean magnetic field (SMMF) of the Sun—an important heliophysical and astrophysical parameter—was restricted to magnetographic measurements in only one spectral line, FeI λ525.02 nm. More informative observations of the Stokes-meter parameters of the SMMF were first initiated on a regular basis at the Sayan Solar Observatory. The availability of I and V data obtained simultaneously in several spectral lines has made it possible to study fundamentally new physical problems. In this paper, based on a comparison of SMMF observations in several spectral lines, we find high correlations in the data and important systematic differences in the magnetic-field strength B, which we interpret as a manifestation of kilogauss magnetic fields in fine-structure magnetic elements. Results of theoretical modeling of the SMMF strength ratios for the FeI λ525.02 nm-FeI λ524.70 nm and FeI λ630.15 nm-FeI λ630.25 nm lines are presented. The asymmetries of the V profiles of four lines near the FeI λ525.02 nm line are examined; these lines are important diagnostics for studies of small-scale dynamical processes. The Sayan Solar Observatory SMMF measurements are in good consistency with the Wilcox Solar Observatory data for 2003: for a comparison of N = 137 pairs of points in the two data sets, the correlation coefficient ρ is 0.92 for the linear regression between the datasets BWSO = 0.03(±0.05) + 0.93(±0.03)BSSO. 相似文献

Porphyroblast rotation during crenulation cleavage development: an example from the aureole of the Mooselookmeguntic pluton, Maine, USA 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In the low‐pressure, high‐temperature metamorphic rocks of western Maine, USA, staurolite porphyroblasts grew at c. 400 Ma, very late during the regional orogenesis. These porphyroblasts, which preserve straight inclusion trails with small thin‐section‐scale variation in pitch, were subsequently involved in the strain and metamorphic aureole of the c. 370 Ma Mooselookmeguntic pluton. The aureole shows a progressive fabric intensity gradient from effectively zero emplacement‐related deformation at the outer edge of the aureole ~2900 m (map distance) from the pluton margin to the development of a pervasive emplacement‐related foliation adjacent to the pluton. The development of this pervasive foliation spanned all stages of crenulation cleavage development, which are preserved at different distances from the pluton. The spread of inclusion‐trail pitches in the staurolite porphyroblasts, as measured in two‐dimensional (2‐D) thin sections, increases nonlinearly from ~16° to 75° with increasing strain in the aureole. These data provide clear evidence for rotation of the staurolite porphyroblasts relative to one another and to the developing crenulation cleavage. The data spread is qualitatively modelled for both pure and simple shear, and both solutions match the data reasonably well. The spread of inclusion‐trail orientations (40–75°) in the moderately to highly strained rocks is similar to the spread reported in several previous studies. We consider it likely that the sample‐scale spread in these previous studies is also the result of porphyroblast rotation relative to one another. However, the average inclusion‐trail orientation for a single sample may, in at least some instances, reflect the original orientation of the overgrown foliation. 相似文献

Gold ore-forming fluids of the Tanami region, Northern Australia 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Fluid inclusion studies have been carried out on major gold deposits and prospects in the Tanami region to determine the compositions
of the associated fluids and the processes responsible for gold mineralization. Pre-ore, milky quartz veins contain only two-phase
aqueous inclusions with salinities ≤19 wt% NaCl eq. and homogenization temperatures that range from 110 to 410°C. In contrast,
the ore-bearing veins typically contain low to moderate salinity (<14 wt% NaCl eq.), H2O + CO2 ± CH4 ± N2-bearing fluids. The CO2-bearing inclusions coexist with two-phase aqueous inclusions that exhibit a wider range of salinities (≤21 wt% NaCl eq.).
Post-ore quartz and carbonate veins contain mainly two-phase aqueous inclusions, with a last generation of aqueous inclusions
being very CaCl2-rich. Salinities range from 7 to 33 wt% NaCl eq. and homogenization temperatures vary from 62 to 312°C. Gold deposits in
the Tanami region are hosted by carbonaceous or iron-rich sedimentary rocks and/or mafic rocks. They formed over a range of
depths at temperatures from 200 to 430°C. The Groundrush deposit formed at the greatest temperatures and depths (260–430°C
and ≤11 km), whereas deposits in the Tanami goldfield formed at the lowest temperatures (≥200°C) and at the shallowest depths
(1.5–5.6 km). There is also evidence in the Tanami goldfield for late-stage isothermal mixing with higher salinity (≤21 wt%
NaCl eq.) fluids at temperatures between 100 and 200°C. Other deposits (e.g., The Granites, Callie, and Coyote) formed at
intermediate depths and at temperatures ranging from 240 to 360°C. All ore fluids contained CO2 ± N2 ± CH4, with the more deeply formed deposits being enriched in CH4 and higher level deposits being enriched in CO2. Fluids from deposits hosted mainly by sedimentary rocks generally contained appreciable quantities of N2. The one exception is the Tanami goldfield, where the quartz veins were dominated by aqueous inclusions with rare CO2-bearing inclusions. Calculated δ
18O values for the ore fluids range from 3.8 to 8.5‰ and the corresponding δD values range from −89 to −37‰. Measured δ
13C values from CO2 extracted from fluid inclusions ranged from −5.1 to −8.4‰. These data indicate a magmatic or mixed magmatic/metamorphic source
for the ore fluids in the Tanami region. Interpretation of the fluid inclusion, alteration, and structural data suggests that
mineralization may have occurred via a number of processes. Gold occurs in veins associated with brittle fracturing and other
dilational structures, but in the larger deposits, there is also an association with iron-rich rocks or carbonaceous sediments,
suggesting that both structural and chemical controls are important. The major mineralization process appears to be boiling/effervescence
of a gas-rich fluid, which leads to partitioning of H2S into the vapor phase resulting in gold precipitation. However, some deposits also show evidence of desulfidation by fluid–rock
interaction and/or reduction of the ore-fluid by fluid mixing. These latter processes are generally more prevalent in the

Several recent studies have presented evidence that significant induced earthquakes occurred in a number of oil-producing regions during the early and mid-twentieth century related to either production or wastewater injection. We consider whether the 21 July 1952 Mw 7.5 Kern County earthquake might have been induced by production in the Wheeler Ridge oil field. The mainshock, which was not preceded by any significant foreshocks, occurred 98 days after the initial production of oil in Eocene strata at depths reaching 3 km, within ~1 km of the White Wolf fault (WWF). Based on this spatial and temporal proximity, we explore a potential causal relationship between the earthquake and oil production. While production would have normally be expected to have reduced pore pressure, inhibiting failure on the WWF, we present an analytical model based on industry stratigraphic data and best estimates of parameters whereby an impermeable splay fault adjacent to the main WWF could plausibly have blocked direct pore pressure effects, allowing the poroelastic stress change associated with production to destabilize the WWF, promoting initial failure. This proof-of-concept model can also account for the 98-day delay between the onset of production and the earthquake. While the earthquake clearly released stored tectonic stress, any initial perturbation on or near a major fault system can trigger a larger rupture. Our proposed mechanism provides an explanation for why significant earthquakes are not commonly induced by production in proximity to major faults. 相似文献

A COCORP deep crustal reflection profile across the Wind River uplift crosses exposed Archean rocks and resolves an unusual complex deep crustal structure at a depth of 24–31 km in an area where depth relations in Precambrian rocks can be inferred. The different levels of exposure across the beveled plunge of the Wind River uplift reveal supracrustal rocks at shallower levels with migmatites and pyroxene granulites at deeper levels. For the first time, deep crustal structure from reflection profiling may be interpreted in terms of exposed basement geology. A folded, multilayered deep structure shown by relfection data resembles multiply folded pyroxene granulite interlayered with granitic gneiss exposed in the central Wind River uplift; isoclinal folding is suggested in the folded layered seismic structure. Earlier seismic reflection studies suggested a simpler lower crust. These data indicate that lower crustal structure may have a complexity similar to deeply eroded Precambrian granulite-facies rocks. If this seismic feature represents folded metamorphic rocks, it seems unlikely that this Archean crust could have been thickened by underplating after 2.7 b.y. B.P. and the crust would have to be at least 30 km thich when this structure was formed. 相似文献

The relative abundances of suprathermal (with energies ~0.04–2 MeV/nucleon) 3He, 4He, C, O, and Fe ions and the energy spectra of 3He and Fe ions in near-Earth space during quiescent periods of solar activity are studied. Measurements obtained with the ULEIS instrument onboard the ACE spacecraft during the 23rd and 24th solar cycles are used. Substantial differences in the energy spectra of suprathermal ions in the 23rd and 24th solar cycles are observed for the selected quiescent periods. Appreciable differences in the energy dependences of the relative ion abundances are also found. One possible explanation for the results obtained is that the background ions were accelerated to suprathrmal energies under different conditions in the solar corona in these two cycles. 相似文献

Upper Cambrian to Middle Ordovician radiolarian chert successions from Kazakhstan were studied to clarify the history of the emergence of benthic animals in ocean floor sediments. Radiolarian tests and clay were deposited for a period of 30 Myr without experiencing an influx of continent-derived coarse clastic materials. Red, grey and black cherts of the Upper Cambrian to the upper mid-Darriwilian are thinly laminated, and no trace of benthic animal activity is recognized in that time interval. Bioturbation structures and burrow traces in mid-Darriwilian stage red chert in Kazakhstan suggest that benthic animals colonized the location where radiolarian chert formed, but that there was a significant delay in colonization when compared with similar reported occurrences in Australia and Canada. 相似文献
