This paper presents an active control algorithm using the probability density function of structural energy. It is assumed that structural energy under excitation has a Rayleigh probability distribution. This assumption is based on the fact that the Rayleigh distribution satisfies the condition that the structural energy is always positive and the occurrence probability of minimum energy is zero. The magnitude of the control force is determined by the probability that the structural energy exceeds the specified target critical energy, and the sign of the control force is determined by the Lyapunov controller design method. The proposed control algorithm shows much reduction of peak responses under seismic excitation compared with the LQR controller, and it can consider the control force limit in the controller design. Also, the chattering problem which sometimes occurs in the Lyapunov controller can be avoided. Copyright © 2003 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This study evaluates the pollution load on a creek based on the physicochemical and mineralogical properties of old tailings. The Sanggok mine is one of the largest lead–zinc producers in the Hwanggangri mining district, Republic of Korea. The vertical profile of the old tailings in the mine area can be divided into three units based on color change, and mineralogical and textural variations, as well as physical and chemical properties. Unit I (surface accumulation and oxidized heterogeneous tailing soil) has lower pH and higher Eh than unit II (originally unoxidized dumped tailing soil) and unit III (pebble-bearing bottom soil). The conductivity data indicates that unit I and II have very high values compared to unit III and basement. The mine area consists mainly of carbonate rocks; however, mineral constituents of tailing soil and sediments near the mine were mainly composed of quartz, mica, feldspar, amphibole, calcite, dolomite, magnesite, and clay minerals. Units I and II are characterized by high abundances of siderite, locally pyrite, and dolomite. Precipitates in the mining drainage mainly included: smectite, illite, berthierine, quartz, siderite, hexahydrite, and Ca-ferrate. Among the separated metallic minerals, tailing soils and sediments of highly concentrated toxic metals are found: some pyrite, arsenopyrite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite, galena, malachite, goethite, various hydroxide, and uncertain secondary minerals. Units I and II are characterized by relatively high concentrations of Ca, Fe, Mn and low contents of Al, Mg, K, Na, Ti, rare earth elements (REEs) that correlated with the proportion of secondary minerals. Potentially toxic elements such as Ag, As, Cd, Cu, Pb, Sb, and Zn are highly enriched in the upper two units. This metal concentration can be influenced by changes in the depth because of oxic and suboxic zonal distribution. The removal zone (unit I) has probably migrated below the elevation of the maximum enrichment layer due to deepening of the oxic/suboxic boundary. In most of the materials, the enrichment index is higher than 3.62. The highest value of 42.55 is found in the oxidation surface soils of the tailing pile. An average enrichment index of the profiles and precipitates are 27.62 and 22.62, respectively. Rocky basement soils have an average enrichment index of 6.63, which is influenced by overlying the tailing pile. The water quality and habitat of the Sanggok creek are severely polluted. Polluted surface water may also negatively impact the agricultural soil and groundwater.  相似文献

We used neutron activation to characterize the metal of 33 main-group pallasites (PMG), widely held to be samples of a core-mantle interface. Most PMG cluster in a narrow range of metal and silicate compositions, but 6 are assigned to an anomalous subset (PMG-am) because of their deviant metal compositions, and 4 others to another anomalous subset (PMG-as) because of their appreciably higher olivine Fa contents. Metal compositions in all PMG are closely related to those in evolved IIIAB irons, and are generally consistent with their formation in the IIIAB parent asteroid. On element-Au diagrams for incompatible elements the normal PMG plot near an extrapolation of IIIAB trends to higher Au concentrations. On element-Au plots of compatible elements such as Ir or Pt the loci of PMG spread out over a broader region explainable by mixing of evolved IIIAB magma with early-crystallized core or mantle-residue solids.Two features of PMG require special models: (1) Ga and Ge contents are generally high (≈1.5×) compared to the IIIAB-based mixing model: and (2) the FeO/(FeO + MgO) ratios span a surprisingly wide range, from 0.11-0.14 in normal PMG to 0.16 to 0.18 in PMG-as This range is larger than expected in a cumulate layer at the base of a mantle. We suggest that both features may be related to the interaction of PMG precursors with a highly evolved magmatic gas phase, and that some or all of these anomalies may have resulted from vapor deposits in voids near the core-mantle interface.An important boundary condition for understanding the detailed PMG origin at the core-mantle interface is the large difference between the solidus temperature of Fa11 olivine (≈2000 K) and the liquidus temperature of an evolved IIIAB melt containing >100 mg/g S and some P (≈1600 K). Following the mixing event that formed the PMG it is therefore reasonable that there would have been olivine rubble floating on top of the IIIAB-like magma, but with appreciable void space present just above the upper level reached by the magma. These voids would have contained gases released from the magma during its flow into the PMG region. We suggest that Ga and Ge, the two most volatile siderophiles in our element set, were added to PMG metal from the magmatic gas. We also suggest that the magmatic gas was oxidizing and that the PMG having high olivine fayalite contents formed in regions where the ratio of void to olivine was high, and that some metallic Fe was oxidized and entered the olivine (or the phosphoran olivine). In support of the latter idea is the observation that both Ni and Co are elevated in the PMG-as (Fa≥16) compared to values predicted by IIIAB trends.We analyzed two Eagle-Station pallasites (PES); after correction for weathering effects in Cold Bay, its composition is found to closely resemble that of Eagle Station but to represent a more evolved composition (i.e., lower Ir, higher Au). Vermillion and Yamato 8451 have been called pyroxene pallasites but have metal compositions (unrelated to those of the PMG or PES) that are too different from each other to even allow assignment to the same grouplet.  相似文献

ABSTRACT Apatite and zircon fission track (FT) analyses were carried out to reconstruct the thermal history of the Lower Cretaceous Sindong Group, which is the lowermost stratal unit of the Gyeongsang Basin, Korea. Zircon FT central ages show a wide range from 83 ± 5 to 157 ± 18 Ma, and single-grain age spectra have multiple age populations, whereas all apatites have very consistent FT ages of c . 60 Ma, suggesting a totally reset cooling age. Co-existence of both older and younger ages compared with the depositional age and relatively short mean track length indicate that the Sindong zircons were partially annealed. The Sindong Group was heated into the zircon partial annealing zone (ZPAZ) around 80 Ma, and cooled below the apatite closure temperature at c . 60 Ma. Based on the zircon FT results combined with vitrinite reflectance data, the maximum palaeotemperature to which the Sindong Group had been subjected can be inferred to be about 260 °C. Zircon FT data from a granite body that is in contact with the Sindong Group and sandstones close to the granite body indicate that thermal influence caused by Upper Cretaceous intrusive rocks was limited in close vicinity of the intrusion and that the major heat source of the Sindong Group was burial. The thickness of uplifted and eroded section is estimated to be about 7 km.  相似文献

The observational infrared spectra of a number of Wolf–Rayet stars of WC8–9 spectral classes are shown to be quite satisfactorily explained by making use of the detailed theoretical model of a dust shell made up of spherical amorphous carbon grains, the dynamics, growth–destruction, thermal and electrical charge balance of which are taken into account. The dust grains acquire mainly positive electrical charge, move with suprathermal drift velocities and may grow up to 100–200 Å as a result of implantation of impinging carbon ions. For most of the stars the fraction of condensed carbon does not exceed 1 per cent. While the nature of the grain nucleation remains unknown, the condensation distances and the grain seed production can be estimated by fitting the observational spectra with theoretical ones.  相似文献

The Taebaek Pb-Zn(-Ag) deposit of the Yeonhwa I mine, Republic of Korea, occurs in a broadly folded and reverse-faulted terrain of Paleozoic sedimentary rocks: the Taebaeksan basin. The orebodies consist of several thin tabular orebodies of hydrothermal replacement type where they are hosted by carbonate rocks. The Pb-Zn(-Ag) mineralization can be divided into four distinct stages based upon the mode of occurrence of ore minerals, ore textural relationships and their composition. Based on temperatures inferred from arsenopyrite compositions by means of electron microprobe and fluid inclusions, the estimated temperatures for the stages I, II, III and IV reach 330 to 350 °C, 270 to 340 °C, 230 to 250 °C, and <220 °C, respectively. The sulphur activity (atm) of ore formation at the Taebaek deposit was estimated for each stage as 10–11 to 10–11.5, 10–9.5 to 10–13, 10–13.5 to 10–15, and <10–15, respectively. Even though application of sphalerite geobarometry is problematic because of the absence of good mineral assemblages, sphalerite coexisting with pyrite but not with pyrrhotite was used to estimate the minimum mineralization pressure (about 1 kbar).  相似文献

A marine magnetic survey was carried out in and around the northern part of Socotra Basin, offshore Korea (31°42′32″–32°46′29″N and 123°56′26″–125°49′16″E), in order to better delineate its northern and eastern boundaries. Analyses of the observed magnetic field and estimation of the basement depth were used to assess these boundaries. The power spectrum and the three-dimensional analytical signal methods were used for depth estimation and to reconstruct basement configuration. Estimated depths resulting from the power spectrum method range from 1.5 to 6.0 km for deep sources (basement troughs), and from 0.3 to 1.7 km for shallower sources (basement peaks). An isopach map shows that the sedimentary sequence varies from 1.4 to 6.0 km in thickness. Estimated depths from the analytic signal method fluctuate in the range 1.2–6 km. The results of the observed field analysis and depth estimation indicate good agreement with the formerly proposed eastern boundary but disagreement with the northern boundary. The findings suggest either an extension of the Socotra Basin or the existence of other sub-basins possibly interconnected with the study area.  相似文献

The effects of drag reduction by ribbons attached to cylindrical pipes   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
This study proposes a drag reduction device that uses three ribbons attached 120 degree apart to vertical pipes. Experiments were conducted in a circulating water channel to investigate the effects of the ribbon length and the direction of the flow on various current velocities. Drag on a vertical cylinder was measured by a resistance dynamometer. Flow visualizations were conducted using laser sheet beams. Laser Doppler Velocimetry (LDV) was used to measure the velocity field in the wake. This experiment demonstrates that attached ribbons can be used to reduce the drag force on vertical pipes for various directions of incoming flows. The ribbon-type device is very simple and easy to fabricate for field applications. The results are promising for the application to offshore structures.  相似文献

The Bouwer and Rice method is a line-fitting method used to estimate the hydraulic conductivity of an aquifer by means of a slug test. When considering a relatively impermeable layer, called a filter cake, which may form at the interface between a cutoff wall and the natural soil formation, the assumptions of the Bouwer and Rice method are violated. A modification of the Bouwer and Rice method is proposed that incorporates the concept of a flow net, whereby the geometry of the cutoff wall and filter cake is effectively considered in estimating the hydraulic conductivity of a vertical cutoff wall.  相似文献
