Minor centres in the Central Volcanic Zone (CVZ) of the Andes occur in different places and are essential indicators of magmatic
processes leading to formation of composite volcano. The Andahua–Orcopampa and Huambo monogenetic fields are located in a
unique tectonic setting, in and along the margins of a deep valley. This valley, oblique to the NW–SE-trend of the CVZ, is
located between two composite volcanoes (Nevado Coropuna to the east and Nevado Sabancaya to the west). Structural analysis
of these volcanic fields, based on SPOT satellite images, indicates four main groups of faults. These faults may have controlled
magma ascent and the distribution of most centres in this deep valley shaped by en-echelon faulting. Morphometric criteria
and 14C age dating attest to four main periods of activity: Late Pleistocene, Early to Middle Holocene, Late Holocene and Historic.
The two most interesting features of the cones are the wide compositional range of their lavas (52.1 to 68.1 wt.% SiO2) and the unusual occurrence of mafic lavas (olivine-rich basaltic andesites and basaltic andesites). Occurrence of such minor
volcanic centres and mafic magmas in the CVZ may provide clues about the magma source in southern Peru. Such information is
otherwise difficult to obtain because lavas produced by composite volcanoes are affected by shallow processes that strongly
mask source signatures. Major, trace, and rare earth elements, as well as Sr-, Nd-, Pb- and O-isotope data obtained on high-K
calc-alkaline lavas of the Andahua–Orcopampa and Huambo volcanic province characterise their source and their evolution. These
lavas display a range comparable to those of the CVZ composite volcanoes for radiogenic and stable isotopes (87Sr/86Sr: 0.70591–0.70694, 143Nd/144Nd: 0.512317–0.512509, 206Pb/204Pb: 18.30–18.63, 207Pb/204Pb: 15.57–15.60, 208Pb/204Pb: 38.49–38.64, and δ
18O: 7.1–10.0‰ SMOW), attesting to involvement of a crustal component. Sediment is absent from the Peru–Chile trench, and hence
cannot be the source of such enrichment. Partial melts of the lowermost part of the thick Andean continental crust with a
granulitic garnet-bearing residue added to mantle-derived arc magmas in a high-pressure MASH [melting, assimilation, storage
and homogenisation] zone may play a major role in magma genesis. This may also explain the chemical characteristics of the
Andahua–Orcopampa and Huambo magmas. Fractional crystallisation processes are the main governors of magma evolution for the
Andahua–Orcopampa and Huambo volcanic province. An open-system evolution is, however, required to explain some O-isotopes
and some major and trace elements values. Modelling of AFC processes suggests the Charcani gneisses and the local Andahua–Orcopampa

Multimineral Rb/Sr internal isochrons from eclogite facies rocks of the Eclogite Zone (Tauern Window, Eastern Alps) consistently yield an Early Oligocene age of 31.5±0.7 Ma. This age has been obtained both for late-prograde, dehydration-related eclogitic veins, and for rocks variably deformed and recrystallized under eclogite facies conditions (2.0–2.5 GPa, 600°C). Initial Sr-isotopic equilibria among all phases indicate absence of significant post-eclogitic isotope redistribution processes, therefore the ages date eclogite facies assemblage crystallization. Equilibria also prove that no prolonged pre-eclogite facies history is recorded in the rocks. Instead, subduction, prograde mineral reactions, and eclogitization proceeded rapidly. Fast exhumation immediately after eclogitization, with minimum rates >36 mm/a is inferred from a 31.5±0.5 Ma internal mineral isochron age of a post-eclogitic greenschist facies vein assemblage. Such rates equal typical subduction rates. Late Eocene to Early Oligocene subduction of the European continental margin, with subsequent rapid exhumation of high-pressure nappe complexes has previously been recognized only in the Western Alps. The new data signify synchronous continental collision all along the Alpine belt. Our results demonstrate the unique potential of Rb/Sr assemblage system analysis for precise dating of both eclogite facies and post-eclogitic events, thus for precisely constraining exhumation rates of deep-seated rocks, and for straightforward linkage of petrologic evidence with isotopic ages. 相似文献

Chemo-dynamical models have been introduced in the late eighties andare a generally accepted tool for understanding galaxy evolution. Theyhave been successfully applied to one-dimensional problems, e.g. theevolution of non-rotating galaxies, and two-dimensional problems,e.g. the evolution of disk galaxies. Recently, also three-dimensionalchemo-dynamical models have become available. In these models thedynamics of different components, i.e. dark matter, stars and amulti-phase interstellar medium, are treated in a self-consistent wayand several processes allow for an exchange of matter, energy andmomentum between the components or different gas phases. Low altitude line-of-sight gravity data obtained by CSM and LM radio tracking during several Apollo missions are used to construct an equispaced normalized vertical gravity net 30 km above selected lunar highland regions. Correlation of local vertical gravity anomalies with craters of different depth reveals a density increase with depth in the upper lunar highland crust. Crustal densities determined in this fashion are in good agreement with other, previously published crustal density values. The pronounced positive gravity anomalies in the lunar circular maria imply lack of isostatic compensation of the lunar mascons. This lack of isostasy is hard to reconcile with the rheological properties of the lunar crust. Analysis of the negative ring anomalies that appear to surround the major positive gravity peaks indicates that associated with each mascon is a mass deficit of approximately the same size. In view of the lunar rheology these mass deficits most probably represent compensating mass deficits beneath the lunar mascon maria. Consequently, most lunar mascons appear to be near isostatic equilibrium, and the observed gravity anomalies may be essentially the superposition of positive gravity peaks due to the basaltic mare fill, and less pronounced, broader gravity lows due to the compensating mass deficits at depth. 相似文献

Methane seepage leads to Mg-calcite and aragonite precipitation at a depth of 4,850 m on the Aleutian accretionary margin. Stromatolitic and oncoid growth structures imply encrustation of microorganisms (microbial mats) in the host sediment with a unique growth direction downward into the sediment, forming crust-shaped lithologies. Biomarker investigations of the residue after carbonate dissolution show strong enrichments in crocetane and archaeol, which contain extremely low '13C values. This indicates the presence of methane-consuming archaea, and '13C values of -42 to -51 PDB indicate that methane is the carbon source for the carbonate crusts. Thus, it appears that stromatolitic encrustations of methanotrophic anaerobic archaea probably occurs in a consortium with sulphate-reducing bacteria and that carbonate precipitation proceeds downward into the sediment, where ascending cold fluids provide a methane source. Strontium and oxygen isotope analyses as well as 14C ages of the carbonates suggest that the fluids come from deep within the sediment and that carbonate precipitation began about 3,000 years ago. 相似文献

Whole-rock chemical composition and 11B/10B isotope ratios in tourmaline was investigated to study the geochemical recycling of boron during the evolution of the Andean
basement from the Palaeozoic to Mesozoic. In the basement (Cambrian to Ordovician high-grade paragneisses, migmatites and
orthogneisses, the Eocambrian Puncoviscana Formation, and Paleozoic-Mesozoic granitoid igneous rocks) whole-rock B contents
are generally below 100 ppm, but B contents of ˜1 wt% are found in cogenetic aplite and pegmatite dikes and in tourmaline–quartz
rocks. In the metasedimentary rocks, no systematic variation in B content because of metamorphic grade and no correlation
of B with other incompatible elements are apparent. Tourmalines from the high-grade metamorphic basement yield δ11B values ranging from −11.2 to −6.8‰ and isotope fractionation during migmatisation was small. Metamorphic tourmalines from
the Puncoviscana Formation have δ11B values between −6.3 and −5.8‰. The calculated (corrected for fractionation) δ11B values of −6 to −2‰ for the sedimentary protolith of the metamorphic basement indicate a continental B source with subordinate
marine input. Tourmalines from Palaeozoic and Mesozoic granitoids display an identical range of δ11B values from −12 to −5.3‰ and indicate a similarly homogeneous B source throughout time. Tourmalines from pegmatites and
tourmaline–quartz rocks record the average δ11B values of the parental granitic magma. We assume that B in the Palaeozoic and Mesozoic granitoids is derived from the local
metamorphic basement supporting the hypothesis that recycling of the lower Palaeozoic crust is the dominant process in granitic
magma formation from Palaeozoic to Mesozoic.

Peridotitic inclusions in alluvial diamonds from the Kankan region of Guinea in West Africa are mainly of lherzolitic paragenesis.
Nevertheless, extreme Cr2O3 contents (max. 17 wt%) in some of the exclusively lherzolitic garnets document that the diamond source experienced a previous
stage of melt extraction in the spinel stability field. This initial depletion was followed by at least two metasomatic stages:
(1) enrichment of LREE and Sr and (2) introduction mainly of MREE–HREE and other HFSE (Ti, Y, Zr, Hf). The Ti- and HFSE-poor
character of stage (1) points towards a CHO-rich fluid or carbonatitic melt, the high HFSE in stage (2) favour silicate melts
as enriching agent. Eclogitic inclusions are derived from a large depth interval ranging from the lithosphere through the
asthenosphere into the transition zone. The occurrence of negative Eu anomalies in garnet and clinopyroxene from both lithosphere
and transition zone suggests a possible relationship to subducted oceanic crust. Lithospheric eclogitic inclusions are derived
from heterogeneous sources, that may broadly be divided into a low-Ca group with LREE depleted trace element patterns and
a high-Ca group representing a source with negative LREE–HREE slope that is moderately enriched in incompatible elements relative
to primitive mantle. High-Ca inclusions of majoritic paragenesis are significantly more enriched in incompatible elements,
such as in Sr and LREE. Calculated whole rock compositions require metasomatic enrichment even if a derivation from MORB is
assumed.
