Curved or planar discordant surfaces occurring within a limited stratigraphic range immediately beneath shallow marine deposits represent penecontemporaneous shear surfaces along which slumps have moved. Rotated packets of strata frequently retained within the curved discordant surfaces show both internal and external evidence of having moved laterally. Movement is considered to have been triggered off by a sudden shock or shocks which may have been either of sedimentary or tectonic origin. The slumping occurred at the change in gradient between slope and shallow marine shelf deposits. 相似文献

Five Ne-normative basalts are unusually rich in Cr, to a lesser degree in Co, and have very high La/Lu ratios and high contents of several excluded trace elements resembling kimberlites in these and other aspects. They seem to represent mantle-derived magmas, only slightly modified by shallow level crystal/liquid fractionation. Cr was apparently excluded from the crystalline phases in equilibrium with these magmas in the upper mantle.The Chyulu rocks differ in several respects from other Gregory Rift basalts, but closely resemble those from Jan Mayen Island near the Mid-Atlantic ridge. The generation of these unusual basalts is therefore not related simply to mantle composition or tectonic setting, but may reflect unusually high-T (1450°C), low-P (15–29 kbars) environments in the zones of last effective equilibration of these magmas with mantle rocks. 相似文献

Significance of Europium anomalies in silicate melts and crystal-melt equilibria: a re-evaluation 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Although europium speciation in silicate melts partly reflects prevailing oxygen fugacities, melt composition and structure play the major role in determining Eu2+/ Eu3+ ratios and europium partitioning into mineral phases. Experimental evidence by different investigators on the magnitude of the compositional effect on Eu2+/Eu3+ provides consistent results only if account is taken of the oxygen buffer system employed in the experiments. The medium-dependent reduction of europium can be understood in terms of the preferential stabilization of Eu2+ by a strong aluminosilicate complex in the melt phase, and to a much lesser degree by metasilicate complexes. The stability of these complexes increases as the field strength of the associated cation species decreases. Hence Eu2+-aluminosilicate complexes are preferentially stabilized relative to trivalent lanthanides in melts of appropriate composition and their presence minimizes the enthalpy of the melt. The influence of these complexes is particularly pronounced in melts with a high feldspathic component and a strongly polymerized structure. Their petrogenetic influence is best documented through the behaviour of europium relative to the other lanthanides during anhydrous anatexis in high-grade metamorphic terrains and in the anomalous europium partition coefficients of phenocryst phases which formed during the crystallization of highly silicic magmas. 相似文献

The article presents chemical analyses of the pseudoleuciteand groundmass of a pseudoleucite tinguaite, chemical analysesof the principal minerals, chemical estimates of the mode ofthe groundmass, and both chemical and micrometric modes of thepseudoleucite. The principal minerals are hedenbergitic acmite,a nepheline containing 2.3 per cent Fe2O3 and 7.9 per cent K2O,and K-feldspar containing a little BaO and very little Na2O.The micrometric mode of the pseudoleucite, in satisfactory agreementwith the chemical mode, is nepheline 29.8 per cent, K-feldspar66.2 per cent, acmite 3.0 per cent; the chemical mode of thegroundmass is nepheline 26.8 per cent, K-feldspar 46.6 per cent,and acmite 26.7 per cent. Autoclaves are closed vessels in which liquids can be heated above their ‘normal' boiling points. As a consequence the pressure will rise. This equipment has permitted a variety of processes like the syntheses of organics and the leaching of metal ores. Pressure technologies can be used for accelerating reactions, for specific syntheses or they offer an environmental or economical alternative for existing processes. Wet pressure oxidation of sewage sludge, an organic waste product, has become a proven technology. If less oxygen is added than stoichiometrically required for a complete oxidation, cellulose will break down by a different reaction mechanism, releasing electrons. The geological, geochemical, and isotopic-geochronological data obtained for Sumian moderate-basic metavolcanites of Shombozero and Lekhta structures of the Panayarvi-Vygozero belt shows that the Tunguda Formation is confined to the Paleoproterozoic structural and material complex. This formation is represented by the complex of weakly differentiated andesitobasalts and andesites of calc-alkaline series with higher contents of MgO and moderate contents of Al2O3 and rare earth elements. The rocks of the Tunguda Formation are different from the Late Archean basic rocks of the Hiziyarvi Formation represented mainly by tholeiitic basalts with low REE contents and undifferentiated spectrum of REE distribution. The age of volcanites of the Tunguda Formation was determined to be 2439 ± 21 Ma. The xenogenic zircons from metaandesites of the Tunguda Formation have Neoarchean age according to the 207Pb/206Pb ratio (from 2536 ± 4 to 2825 ± 7 Ma). The Neoarchean zircons, a negative value of ?Nd (?3.8), and indicative geochemical parameters are evidence that the crustal component took part in formation of the protolith of the studied rocks. 相似文献

Radiolarians from the lower part of the Karai Formation (upper Albian-middle Cenomanian) are studied in detail for the first time. Among over 50 radiolarian species identified in the formation, there are Acaeniotyle amplissima (Foreman), Savaryella novalensis (Squinabol), S. quadra (Foreman), Vitorfus campbelli Pessagno, Archaeodictyomitra montisserei (Squinabol), Holocryptocanium barbui Dumitrica, Pseudoeucyrtis sp. cf. Ps. spinosa (Squinabol), Stichomitra communis Squinabol, Tubilustrionella transmontanum (O’Dogherty), and others. The discovered radiolarians are divided into the Halesium triacanthum-Orbiculiforma nevadaenis (late Albian-early Cenomanian), Crucella latum-Cryptamphorella micropora (late Albian?-early Cenomanian), and Becus sp. B-Godia concava (terminal Albian-middle Cenomanian) assemblages. In general, the Albian-Cenomanian radiolarians of South India are comparatively less diverse than the concurrent assemblages of the Mediterranean region and California. In taxonomic composition and morphological peculiarities, they are comparable with the Aptian-Albian radiolarians of Western Australia (Ellis, 1993). Consequently it can be postulated that sea basins of South India were situated during the Albian-Cenomanian in the temperate latitudes of the Southern Hemisphere. 相似文献

A new mineral, lahnsteinite, has been found in the dump of the Friedrichssegen Mine, Bad Ems district, Rhineland-Palatinate (Rheinland-Pfalz), Germany. Lahnsteinite, occurring as colorless tabular crystals in the cavities of goethite, is associated with pyromorphite, hydrozincite, quartz, and native copper. The Mohs’ hardness is 1.5; the cleavage is perfect parallel to (001). D calc = 2.995 g/cm3, D meas = 2.98(2) g/cm3. The IR spectrum is given. The new mineral is optically biaxial, negative, α = 1.568(2), β = 1.612(2), γ = 1.613(2), 2V meas = 18(3)°, 2V calc = 17°. The chemical composition (wt %, electron microprobe data; H2O was determined by gas chromatography of ignition products) is as follows: 3.87 FeO, 1.68 CuO, 57.85 ZnO, 15.83 SO3, 22.3 H2O, total is 101.53. The empirical formula is (Zn3.3Fe0.27Cu0.11)Σ3.91(S0.98O4)(OH)5 · 3H2.10O. The crystal structure has been studied on a single crystal. Lahnsteinite is triclinic, space group P1, a = 8.3125(6), b = 14.545(1), c = 18.504(2) Å, α = 89.71(1), β = 90.05(1), γ = 90.13(1)°, V = 2237.2(3) Å3, Z = 8. The strong reflections in the X-ray powder diffraction pattern [d, Å (I, %)] are: 9.30 (100), 4.175 (18), 3.476 (19), 3.290 (19), 2.723 (57), 2.624 (36), 2.503 (35), 1.574 (23). The mineral has been named after its type locality near the town of Lahnstein. The type specimen of lahnsteinite is deposited in the Fersman Mineralogical Museum of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, registration number 4252/1. 相似文献
