Lead isotope study has been performed on massive sulphide deposits of Ossa-Morena and Aracena Belt (South Iberia). Results suggest the existence of at least two ancient hydrothermal events. The first one, Upper Brioverian in age (~600–570 Ma), gave birth to Maria-Luisa and Puebla de la Reina massive sulphide deposits; it thus confirms the existence of a Cadomian orogen in South Iberia. Isotopic compositions indicate a local contribution of mantle-derived material (Maria Luisa mine), confirming the presence of ancient oceanic crust in Aracena Belt. This mineralising event seems to extend till the Armorican Massif. The second episode, Eo-Hercynian in age (~400–350 Ma) has allowed genesis of massive sulphide deposits of la Nava Paredon and Aguas Blancas, and could be coeval with the emplacement of South-Iberian massive sulphide ore deposits in the neighbouring South-Portuguese Zone. A more continental crustal source for later ore deposits could explain the much more important metal accumulation in this zone. To cite this article: É. Marcoux et al., C. R. Present downslope iron accumulations were investigated in the rainforest zone in southern Cameroon. Six clay and Fe-hydroxide dominated patterns have been identified and occur on the lower part of hill slopes. They can be subdivided in three different sequences, related to gentle, moderate or steep slopes. They are discontinuous with respect to the dismantling zone of the old ferricrete cap formed at Cretaceous period. They show a gradual development from a soft Fe-crust (carapace) to a vesicular facies that will, with time, cover the whole landscape again. To cite this article: É. Temgoua et al., C. R. The ‘Calcaires à Productus’ of the Montagne Noire are microbial build-ups. Two formations are defined and dated respectively as Uppermost Visean (Upper Warnantian–Brigantian) and Serpukhovian on the basis on corals. That makes these limestones out to be younger than previously stated (Lower and base of Upper Warnantian–Asbian and base of Brigantian) and indicates that the development of the olistoliths and thrusts including them, due to the Variscan orogeny, was at least as young as the Upper Serpukhovian. The Serpukhovian limestones of the Montagne Noire are correlated with the Lanet Limestone (Mouthoumet Massif, Corbières) and Ardengost Limestone (central Pyrenees). The evaluation of the impact of climate change on deltaic systems implies studying a multi-component system in which the complexity of links is high enough to present doing it as a whole. Because of this, it is a reasonable approach to study separately the behaviour of each element, to be afterwards linked into a general conceptual model for deltaic behaviour. Moreover, in the case of largely regulated deltas, the main impacts of climatic change will be marine-related since those related to the catchment areas will be severely damped by river regulation and management policies. This fact implies that coastal fringes may become the main frontier between the delta and climatic change effects. In this context, a methodology to study climatic change impacts on deltaic coastal fringes is here presented. It will be further developed on two companion papers dealing with the study of driving terms and coastal response. As coastal processes act at different time and space scales, determining the reference – initial – situation must be done taking into account the inherent system dynamics. It is thus unrealistic to characterize the initial stage as a static one. In order to avoid this simplistic approach, a comprehensive approach to the coastal system must be employed, with three different scales (long-term/large scale, medium term/scale and episodic).  相似文献

The evaluation of the impact of climatic change on deltaic coastal systems requires establishing a reference situation. As deltaic coastal zones are highly dynamic areas, it is necessary to define the reference situation as a function of their present evolutive stage. This implies characterizing coastal processes as a complex system defined by the links between driving or forcing terms and the coastal response at different temporal and spatial scales (long/large, medium and episodic scales). Starting from classical previous works on deltaic systems and including all available field and conceptual knowledge to properly consider present conditions (largely regulated rivers, subsidence, etc.) a detailed methodology to analyse forcing or driving agents at the three mentioned scales is presented. This methodology which developed the general approach presented in a companion paper, will be followed by a future paper focusing on the analysis of the coastal response.  相似文献

A conventional view of magnetic reconnection is mainly based on the 2-D picture of an X-type neutral point, or on the extension of it to 3-D, and it is thought to be accompanied by flux transport across separatrices (places where the field-line mapping is discontinuous). This view is too restrictive when we realize the variety of configurations that are seen flaring. We designed an algorithm, called Source Method (SM), to determine the magnetic topology of active regions (ARs). The observed photospheric field was extrapolated to the corona using subphotospheric sources and the topology was defined by the link between these sources. H flare brightenings were found to be located at the intersection with the chromosphere of the separatrices so defined. These results and the knowledge we gained on the properties of magnetic field-line linkage, led us to generalize the concept of separatrices to quasi-separatrix layers (QSLs) and to design a new method (quasi-separatrix layers method, QSLM) to determine the magnetic topology of ARs. QSLs are regions where the magnetic field-line linkage changes drastically (discontinuously when they behave like separatrices) and the QSLM can be applied to ARs where the photospheric field has been extrapolated using any kind of technique. In this paper we apply the QSLM to observed flaring regions presenting very different configurations and also to a decaying AR where a minor phenomenon, like an X-ray bright point (XBP), is observed. We find that the locations of flare and XBP brightenings are related to the properties of the field-line linkage of the underlying magnetic region, as expected from recent developments of 3-D magnetic reconnection. The extrapolated coronal field lines representing the structures involved in the analyzed events have their photospheric footpoints located at both sides of QSLs. Our results strongly support the hypothesis that magnetic reconnection is at work in various coronal phenomena, ranging from the less energetic ones to large-scale eruptions.  相似文献
