The seasonal variation of the nocturnal average intensity, and the typical variation of the sodium airglow intensity during the night have been deduced, using a data set that has been accumulated over a period of 5 years. The maximum intensity, which occurs at the equinoxes, is about 2–3 times as large as the intensity during winter, when the intensity of the D2 line is about 30 R. The nocturnal variation is symmetrical about midnight, where the intensity is some 30% less than just after (before) dusk (dawn) values. 相似文献

Following the recent mass spectrometric observations of the ambient stratospheric positive and negative ions we have carried out co-ordinated laboratory experiments using a selected ion flow tube apparatus and a flowing afterglow apparatus for the following purposes: (i) to consider whether CH3CN is a viable candidate molecule for the species X in the observed stratospheric ion series H+ (H2On (X)m and (ii) to determine the binary mutual neutralization rate coefficients αi for the reactions ofH+ (H2O4 and H+(H2O)(CH3CN)3 with several of the negative ion species observed in the stratosphere. We conclude from (i) that CH3CN is indeed a viable candidate for X and from (ii) that the αi for stratospheric ions are within the limited range (5–6) × 10?8 cm3 s?1. 相似文献

We describe the use of a package of subroutines for general-relativistic algebraic computations written in the LISP-based algebraic programming system REDUCE developed by Anthony Hearn. The first group of routines calculates concomitants of the metric tensor such as the Riemann tensor, Ricci tensor, Ricci scalar, Einstein tensor and Weyl tensor from given covariant or covariant and contravariant metric tensor components. One of these procedures includes the evaluation of the Maxwell equations and invariants as well as the Maxwell energy momentum tensor. A second group of routines takes the components of a null tetrad as input and evaluates the null frame projections of the Riemann tensor, the Einstein tensor as well as – if required – the 14 local invariants of the Riemann tensor. It also includes a determination of the Petrov type. Perturbation calculations may be performed and run effectively. The output can be presented in a flexible format chosen according to the needs of the user. A number of further special-purpose programs are available on request. The article should enable a reader familar with General Relativity but unfamilar with formula manipulating system, to employ the package. 相似文献

The 7 May 1992 filament disappearance in the low corona is analyzed. The cool and hot components of this event are studied, using H, soft X-ray and radio data. We first show the general effect of the disparition brusque (DB) on the life of the filament, which was a quiescent filament in the vicinity of an active region, and then give the history of the development of the 7 May event. The main stages of the event are: (i) the formation of hot arches spanning the cool filament; (ii) rise of the filament, with plasma ejection into the corona, in which we note some spreading of loops from the main body, with two distinct rising velocity phases of the H filament; (iii) formation of X-ray arches below the filament, the foot points of the arcades being two-ribbon H flare patches. The San Juan Capistrano chondrite fell on 15 March 1973; the total recovered mass was 56 g. Electron microprobe, chemical and petrographic studies show it to be a member of the H group and of petrologic type 6. The relationship between the RMS amplitudes of the wind wave spectral components and the wind speed has been studied at ten frequencies in the band of 0.65–23 Hz. To measure the parameters of the high-frequenci waves, a resistance elevation wave gauge was operated, which was deployed in the Black See on an oceanographic platform near Katsively. The correlation between the wave amplitudes and the wind velocity at high frequencies of 5–23 Hz, corresponding to gravitation-capillary ripples, was found to reach a value of 0.8. At lower frequencies of 0.65–4.3 Hz, corresponding to short gravity waves, it dropped to 0.5–0.7. The response of spectral components to the wind speed variations in the gravity-capillary range is higher than in the range of short gravity waves. The results obtained differ from Phillips' idea about a saturated range for the frequency form of the spectrum of high-frequency gravity waves, since a linear dependence of the spectral amplitudes on the wind speed is established at a wind of force 1–8.Translated by Mikhail M. An alternative technique to obtain the dynamic response of a massless rigid circular foundation resting on a uniform elastic half-space when subjected to harmonic plane waves is presented. The technique relies on the use of an integral representation involving the free-field ground motion and the contact tractions obtained in the course of calculating the dynamic force–displacement relationship of the foundation for external forces.
