The zero point of galaxy redshifts measured from objective prism plates (dispersion 246 nm/mm at H) as part of the Muenster Redshift Project (MRSP) is obtained through transformation of object positions from the corresponding direct plate. Approximately 1000 G-type stars, classified automatically, are used. On the direct plate, positions are obtained from intensity-weighted first moments. On the objective prism plate, object positions are give through the CaII-break and marginal fits to the unwidened spectra. The transformation equations include quadratic terms in the direction of dispersion. The inclusion of third-order and colour terms is discussed. The mean residuals are approximately 0".33 (5 m on the plate), corresponding to a redshift error of about 700 km/s at z=0.0. This error results mainly from the uncertainty in locating the CaII-break in the low-dispersion spectra. Radial velocities are obtained from the difference between the expected and the measured positions of the CaII-break in the galaxy spectra.  相似文献

The observations and the plate reduction technique for the determination of positions and absolute proper motions which is used in Potsdam are described. Recent results have shown that an accuracy of about 0 . 1 for positions and 0 . 7 cent . –1 for proper motions can be achieved both for bright (8m–12m) and faint (16m–18m) stars. Three astrometric programmes using the Tautenburg plates are presented.  相似文献

The frequency distribution of isochrone ages of nearby F and G stars is used in a synthetic approach to the history of the star-formation rate (SFR). On the basis of stellar evolutionary sequences, age distributions are calculated for different assumptions on the SFR history. Models with a constant past SFR provide a good fit of the empirical age distributions, unless a feature at ages 4 Gyr. If real, a shoulder in the empirical frequency distribution of isochrone ages at 4–5 Gyr points toward an enhanced SFR during a more or less (1 to 6 Gyr) extended period which ceased with a peak about 4 Gyr ago. It is shown that models with such a nonmonotonous SFR history reproduce the empirical stellar age distribution and, moreover, the age-metallicity relation and the metallicity distribution of nearby stars. An era of enhanced star formation in this time interval is consistent with recently published interpretation of several age-dependent properties in different samples of nearby stars.  相似文献

Photometry of HD 155638=V792 Her has been analyzed to determine the elements of this totally eclipsing RS CVn binary. The light variation outside eclipse was found to have a period of 27d.07±0d.07, which is slightly different from the 27d.5384±0d.0045 orbital period. Analysis of the eclipses was achieved by a modification of the Russell-Merrill technique. With the aid of radial velocity measures, absolute elements were obtained for the hot and cool stars, respectively;R h=2.58R ,R c=12.28R ,M h=1.40M ,M c=1.46M ,i=80o.61 and velocity semi-amplitudesK c=48.36 km s–1±0.79 km s–1, andK h=50.50 km s–1±0.33 km s–1. The apparent magnitudes areV h=9 m .73 andV c=8 m .48. The distance to HD 155638 was estimated to be 310 parsecs.  相似文献

The transition from local horizon and terrestrial BIH-systems to celestial reference frames is well known to be affected by various geodetic parameters such as polar motion (xp(t), yp(t)), UT1-TUC (where UT1 is basically dependent on variations in UT0 and t=time), plumb line deflections (, ) of observation stations, global and local tidal deformations etc. Variations of such quantities with (relative) resolution of the order of 0.001 and better, such as VLBI, demand the application of continuous high-precision (world-wide) geodynamic surveys whenever global theories and sufficient models are not available and the introduction of improved local and global models (geophysical and relativistic) is needed in order to match astrometric observations related to different reference frames. Prediction of parameters for immediate transformation from one system of reference into the other is sometimes of interest.The paperreviews recent results of different observations,points out a number of still open and unresolved problems in observations and modeling, anddiscusses related consequences. Conclusions for geodynamics drawn from comparison of observed data with models based on astronomical and geophysical observations give way to new understanding of basic phenomena of relevance for various disciplines.  相似文献

It has become clear in recent years that relativistic beaming is a good explanation for the BL Lac phenomenon. Of studies based on the relativistic beaming model of BL Lac objects, we note that the orientation of jet's axis to the line-of-sight is very small and, therefore, the observed flux emitted from a rapidly moving source is orders of magnitude higher than the flux in its rest-frame:F obs = 3 + F intr, where is the bulk relativistic Doppler factor. Then the observed apparent magnitudem v must be corrected for this effect. For our 39 samples, the corrected apparent magnitudem v corr and logZ have a good correlation.  相似文献

A static spherically-symmetric model, based on an exact solution of Einstein's equation, gives the permissible matter density 2×1014 g cm–3. If we use the change in the ratio of central density to the radiusr=a (i.e., central density per unit radius (0/a), we call it radius density) minimum, we have estimated the upper limit of the density variation parameter () and minimum mass limit of a superdense star like a neutron star. This limit gives an idea of the domain where the neutron abundance with negligible number of electrons and protons (may be treated as pure neutrons) and equilibrium in neutrons begins.  相似文献

The transport of thermal radiation has been considered within a finite slab which absorb and scatter anisotropically. The problem involves the space-dependent single-scattering albedow(x). Two approximations are taken forw(x). In the first it is represented in exponential form asw(x)=w 0 exp(–x/s), wherew 0 ands are given constants andx is the optical variable. The second approximation assumes the formw(x) = r=0 R d r * p r (x/a), whered r * are known expansion coefficients anda is the half optical thickness of the slab. Analytic expressions for the forward, backward radiation intensities and fluxes are given in each approximation. We report and discuss solar systemN R abundances for nuclidesA>70, obtained as differences between measured solar system abundances and calculatedS-process contributions. The abundance peak atA163 in the rare Earth element region reveals properties which are similar to those of theR-process peaks corresponding to magic neutron numbersN=82 andN=126. We observe that systematic differences in theN R abundances of even-A and odd-A nuclides are restricted to specific mass regions. We discuss possible interpretations and conclude that these differences are most probably related to the properties of nuclear species during to the stability valley.... A genesis of the elements such as is sketched out would not be confined to our little Solar System, but would probably follow the same general sequence of events in every center of energy now visible as a Star. A survey of the 4(04)-3(03) and 1(01)-0(00) transitions of HOCO+ has been made toward several molecular clouds. The HOCO+ molecule was not observed in any sources except Sgr B2 and Sgr A. The 5(05)-4(04) and 4(14)-3(13) transitions were also detected toward Sgr B2. The results indicate that gas phase CO2 is not a major carbon reservoir in typical molecular clouds. In Sgr B2, the HOCO+ antenna temperature exhibits a peak approximately 2' north of the Sgr B2 central position (Sgr B2[M]) and the 4(04)-3(03) line emission is extended over a approximately 10' x 10' region. The column density of HOCO+ at the northern peak in Sgr B2 is approximately 3 x 10(14) cm-2, and the fractional abundance relative to H2 > or = 3 x 10(-10), which is about 2 orders of magnitude greater than recent predictions of quiescent cloud ion-molecule chemistry.  相似文献
