We obtained the images of the eastern part of the solar corona in the Fe xiv 530.3 nm (green) and Fe x 637.4 nm (red) coronal emission lines during the total solar eclipse of 29 March 2006 at Manavgat, Antalya, Turkey. The images
were obtained using a 35 cm Meade telescope equipped with a Peltier-cooled 2k × 2k CCD and 0.3 nm pass-band interference filters
at the rates of 2.95 s (exposure times of 100 ms) and 2.0 s (exposure times of 300 ms) in the Fe xiv and Fe x emission lines, respectively. The analysis of the data indicates intensity variations at some locations with period of strongest
power around 27 s for the green line and 20 s for the red line. These results confirm earlier findings of variations in the
continuum intensity with periods in the range of 5 to 56 s by Singh et al. (Solar Phys.
170, 235, 1997). The wavelet analysis has been used to identify significant intensity oscillations at all pixels within our field of view.
Significant oscillations with high probability estimates were detected for some locations only. These locations seem to follow
the boundary of an active region and in the neighborhood, rather than within the loops themselves. These intensity oscillations
may be caused by fast magneto-sonic waves in the solar corona and partly account for heating of the plasma in the corona. 相似文献

We present results obtained from near-infrared JHK spectroscopic observations of novae V2491 Cygni and V597 Puppis in the early declining phases of their 2007 and 2008 outbursts, respectively. In both objects, the spectra displayed emission lines of H i , O i , He i and N i . In V597 Pup, the He i lines were found to strengthen rapidly with time. Based on the observed spectral characteristics, both objects are classified as He/N novae. We have investigated the possibility of V2491 Cyg being a recurrent nova as has been suggested. By studying the temporal evolution of the linewidths in V2491 Cyg, it appears unlikely that the binary companion is a giant star with heavy wind as in recurrent novae of the RS Oph type. Significant deviations from that of recombination case B conditions are observed in the strengths of the H i lines. This indicates that the H i lines, in both novae, are optically thick during the span of our observations. The slope of the continuum spectra in both cases was found to have a λ−(3−3.5) dependence which deviates from a Rayleigh–Jeans spectral distribution. Both novae were detected in the post-outburst supersoft X-ray phase; V2491 Cyg being very bright in X-rays has been the target of several observations. We discuss and correlate our infrared observations with the observed X-ray properties of these novae. 相似文献

In this paper, we extend the applicability of a previously proposed class of dynamic space-time models by enabling them to
accommodate large datasets. We focus on the common setting where space is viewed as continuous but time is taken to be discrete.
Scalability is achieved by using a low-rank predictive process to reduce the dimensionality of the data and ease the computational burden of estimating the spatio-temporal process of interest.
The proposed models are illustrated using weather station data collected over the northeastern United States between 2000
and 2005. Here our interest is to use readily available predictors, association among measurements at a given station, as
well as dependence across space and time to improve prediction for incomplete station records and locations where station

The present study aims to compute the temporal and spatial distribution of road traffic induced noise pollution in an urban environment by monitoring and mapping. The study area was the entire Asansol city of West Bengal, India. A total of 35 locations were selected for collection of data, classified as industrial, commercial, residential, sensitive and mixed areas according to the national regulatory standards. Noise recordings were conducted during morning and night hours. Day time Leq level ranged between 51.2 and 89.0 dB(A), whereas it ranged between 43.5 and 81.9 dB(A) during night. The average Ldn value was 73.28 ±8.51 dB(A) (Range: 55.1–87.3); The traffic noise index was 80.62 ± 15.88 dB(A) (Range: 49.4–115.8). The computed data were mapped by utilization of Geographic information system methodology that allowed the visualization and identification of the extent and distribution of sound pollution across the study area. This proves to be an ideal tool for carrying out noise impact assessments in urban settings. The study reveals that present noise level in all the locations exceeds the prescribed limit. Based on the finding, it can be mentioned that the population in this industrial town are exposed to significantly high noise level, which is caused mostly due to road traffic. The study reveals that vulnerable establishments like schools and hospitals are subjected to significantly high noise level throughout the day and immediate mitigatory measures are required to alleviate the problem. 相似文献

We examine the influence of nonadiabatic effects on the modes of an isothermal stratified magnetic atmosphere. The present investigation is a continuation of earlier work by Hasan and Christensen-Dalsgaard (1992) and Banerjee, Hasan, and Christensen-Dalsgaard (1995, 1996), where the interaction of various elementary modes in a stratified magnetized atmosphere was studied in the purely adiabatic limit. The inclusion of radiative dissipation based on Newton's law of cooling demonstrates the importance of this effect in the study of magnetoatmospheric waves. We analyze the physical nature of magnetoacoustic gravity (or MAG) oscillations in the presence of Newtonian cooling and find that the eigenfrequency curves in the diagnostic diagram, as in the previous analysis, undergo avoided crossings. However, the qualitative nature of the mode interaction is strongly influenced by radiative dissipation, which leads to strong mode damping in the avoided-crossing regions. We demonstrate this effect for the interaction between the Lamb mode and a magnetic mode. Our results could be important in the analysis of waves in flux tubes on the Sun. 相似文献

The currently known astronomical, chemical and magnetic data are not uniquely indicative of an extensively and globally molten Moon. We argue here for an accretional layering in the Moon, but at temperatures below solidus. The excess mass in the near side of the Moon compatible with a 2 km displacement in the center of mass relative to the centre of figure and the moment of inertia data is considered to be due to Fe-FeS liquid formation and inhomogeneous segregation. These Fe-FeS bodies, termed fescons, are shown to be capable of accounting for the presently available magnetization data, by acting as small regenerative dynamos with a time-stability less than that of the terrestrial equivalent. The chemical characteristics of the highly differentiated materials (KREEP, granite etc.) are considered to be due to small scale localized melting caused by collisional events, from sources in which accessory phases play a significant role. Mare basalts are considered to be melts in the overlying material produced at a later time by40K radioactivity in the fescons. Some consequences of the present hypothesis are suggested.We conclude that these and other characteristics of the lunar materials are reconcilable with a cold Moon such as discussed by Urey over the past two decades.Paper dedicated to Professor Harold C. Summary Rock-magnetic characteristics of late Pleistocene loess-paleosol sequences in the Czech Republic show patterns of variation
that reflect climate-related depositional and diagenetic processes which acted on the sedimentary profiles. Mass-normalized
magnetic susceptibility is high in interglacial and interstadial paleosols, while uniformly low values are measured in unweathered
loess horizons. Normalized ferrimagnetic susceptibility and anhysteretic remanent magnetization show an enhancement of ultrafine
(superparamagnetic, SP) and fine (single-domain, SD, and pseudo-single-domain, PSD) grains in chernozem paleosols correlated
with δ18O substages 5c and 5a as well as in the Holocene soil. The parabraunerde paleosol associated with peak interglacial conditions,
correlated with δ18O substage 5e, shows evidence of diagenetic loss of fine grained magnetic minerals, although coarse (multidomain, MD) grains
appear to be preserved.
Low temperature remanence behavior plus high temperature susceptibility measurements of representative samples from each lithologic
unit indicate that magnetite and maghemite are the dominant magnetic minerals within the sediments. Variations in concentration-independent
rock-magnetic parameters are therefore primarily a function of grain size variations through the profile. It is anticipated
that with additional magnetic and non-magnetic sedimentological and geochemical tests, a quantitative rock-magnetic — paleoclimate

“Coarsening upward” successions typical of subtidal sand bars have been recognised in the NE-trending linear sandstone bodies which occur within marine shale in the Eze-Aku Formation (Upper Cretaceous) of southeastern Nigeria.The ideal succession, 15–20 m thick, consists of the following units from bottom to top: (1) bioturbated grey siltstone (offshore mud); (2) wave-ripple-laminated, fine-grained well-sorted sandstone (offshore sands); (3) trough and tabular, cross-bedded medium-grained sandstone with channelled base (subtidal channel complex); (4) trough cross-bedded, medium-grained sandstone with bimodal-bipolar paleocurrent pattern (subtidal bar); (5) coarse, pebbly trough cross-bedded sandstone with wave-rippled top, rare burrows and a bimodal-bipolar paleocurrent pattern (subtidal bar). A sixth facies, not a part of the normal sequence, consists of coarse, carbonate-cemented pebbly sandstone grading into pure shell-limestone (bar margin).The sand bars seem to have grown on a shallow mud-bottomed, wave-worked inland sea inhabited by burrowers.
