In this paper, the structure of systematic and random errors in marine survey net are discussed in detail and the adjustment method for observations of marine survey net is studied, in which the rank-defect characteristic is discovered first up to now. On the basis of the survey-line systematic error model, the formulae of the rank-defect adjustment model are deduced according to modern adjustment theory. An example of calculations with really observed data is carried out to demonstrate the efficiency of this adjustment model. Moreover, it is proved that the semi-systematic error correction method used at present in marine gravimetry in China is a special case of the adjustment model presented in this paper. 相似文献

Regional scale urban built-up areas and surface urban heat islands (SUHI) are important for urban planning and policy formation. Owing to coarse spatial resolution (1000 m), it is difficult to use Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Land surface temperature (LST) products for mapping urban areas and visualization, and SUHI-related studies. To overcome this problem, the present study downscaled MODIS (1000 m resolution)-derived LST to 250 m resolution to map and visualize the urban areas and identify the basic components of SUHI over 12 districts of Punjab, India. The results are compared through visual interpretation and statistical procedure based on similarity analysis. The increased entropy value in the downscaled LST signifies higher information content. The temperature variation within the built-up and its environs is due to difference in land use and is depicted better in the downscaled LST. The SUHI intensity analysis of four cities (Ludhiana, Patiala, Moga and Vatinda) indicates that mean temperature in urban built-up core is higher (38.87 °C) as compared to suburban (35.85 °C) and rural (32.41 °C) areas. The downscaling techniques demonstrated in this paper enhance the usage of open-source wide swath MODIS LST for continuous monitoring of SUHI and urban area mapping, visualisation and analysis at regional scale. Snow cover is an important variable for climatic and hydrologic models due to its effects on surface albedo, energy, and moisture budgets. Passive microwave sensors can be used to monitor temporal and spatial variations in large-scale snow cover parameters, avoiding problems of cloud cover and polar nights. In the present study, brightness temperature values were estimated (using calibration curves) for moist snow on natural and blackbody/metal surface. TB response on snow depth, density, SWE and angular variation from nadir were measured and found that TB decreases with increase of snow depth and with increase of angle from nadir. Empirical relations were used to estimate emissivity, dielectric constant and dielectric loss factor. It was observed that emissivity decreases with the increase of dielectric constant. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss factor both increases with the increase of density. Experiments were performed during winter of year 2005 at Dhundi and Solang (H.P.), India, using ground based passive microwave radiometer having 6.9 and 18.7 GHz antenna frequencies at dual polarization. 相似文献

Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image formation for a ground moving target necessitates the compensation of the unknown target trajectory. The keystone transform has been employed to remove the linear component of the range migration for the moving target, where interpolation is required. In this letter, a realization of the keystone transform avoiding interpolation is presented. The kernel of this transform, i.e., the range-frequency-dependent azimuth time rescaling, is implemented using only complex multiplications and fast Fourier transforms based on the scaling principle, which has been successfully applied in the equalization of the space-variant range cell migration in SAR processing. In addition, the moving target is coarsely focused according to the SAR geometry and the platform velocity while exploiting the scaling principle. This preliminary focusing is helpful in the isolation of the moving target from ground clutter, so as to facilitate a more refined processing with respect to each mover. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image formation processing assumes that the scene is stationary, and to focus an object, one coherently sums a large number of independent returns. Any target motion introduces phases that distort and/or translate the target's image. Target motion produces a smear primarily in the azimuth direction of the SAR image. Time-frequency (TF) modeling is used to analyze and correct the residual phase distortions. An interactive focusing algorithm based on TF modeling demonstrates how to correct the phase and to rapidly focus the mover. This is demonstrated on two watercraft observed in a SAR image. Then, two time-frequency representations (TFRs) are applied to estimate the motion parameters of the movers or refocus them or both. The first is the short-time Fourier transform, from which a velocity profile is constructed based on the length of the smear. The second TFR is the time-frequency distribution series, which is a robust derivative of the Wigner-Ville distribution that works well in this SAR environment. The smear is a modulated chirp, from which a velocity profile is plotted and the phase corrections are integrated to focus the movers. The relationship between these two methods is discussed. Hyperspectral data are generally noisier compared to broadband multispectral data because their narrow bandwidth can only
capture very little energy that may be overcome by the self-generated noise inside the sensors. It is desirable to smoothen
the reflectance spectra. This study was carried out to see the effect of smoothing algorithms - Fast-Fourier Transform (FFT)
and Savitzky–Golay (SG) methods on the statistical properties of the vegetation spectra at varying filter sizes. The data
used in the study is the reflectance spectra data obtained from Hyperion sensor over an agriculturally dominated area in Modipuram
(Uttar Pradesh). The reflectance spectra were extracted for wheat crop at different growth stages. Filter sizes were varied
between 3 and 15 with the increment of 2. Paired t-test was carried out between the original and the smoothed data for all the filter sizes in order to see the extent of distortion
with changing filter sizes. The study showed that in FFT, beyond filter size 11, the number of locations within the spectra
where the smooth spectra were statistically different from its original counterpart increased to 14 and reaches 21 at the
filter size 15. However, in SG method, number of statistically different locations were more than those found in the FFT,
but the number of locations did not changing drastically. The number of statistically disturbed locations in SG method varied
between 16 and 19. The optimum filter size for smoothing the vegetation spectra was found to be 11 in FFT and 9 in SG method. 相似文献

Measuring tree stem diameters using intensity profiles from ground-based scanning lidar from a fixed viewpoint 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
This paper presents a method for using the intensity of returns from a scanning light detection and ranging (lidar) system from a single viewing point to identify the location and measure the diameter of tree stems within a forest. Such instruments are being used for rapid forest inventory and to provide consistent supporting information for airborne lidars. The intensity transect across a tree stem is found to be consistent with a simple model parameterised by the range and diameter of the trunk. The stem diameter is calculated by fitting the model to transect data. The angular span of the stem can also be estimated by using a simple threshold where intensity values are tested against the expected intensity for a stem of given diameter. This is useful when data are insufficient to fit the model or the stem is partially obscured. The process of identifying tree positions and trunk diameters is fully automated and is shown to be successful in identifying a high proportion of trees, including some that are partially obscured from view. The range and bearing to trees are in excellent agreement with field data. Trunk angular span and diameter estimations are well correlated with field measurements at the plot scale. The accuracy of diameter estimation is found to decrease with range from the scanning position and is also reduced for stems subtending small angles (less than twice the scanning resolution) to the instrument. A method for adjusting survey results to compensate for trees missed due to obscuration from the scanning point and the use of angle count methods is found to improve basal area estimates and achieve agreement within 4% of field measurements. 相似文献

Tomographic 4D reconstructions of ionospheric anomalies appearing in the high-latitude polar cap region are compared with
plasma density measurements by digital ionosonde located near the north magnetic pole at Eureka station and with in situ plasma
measurements on-board DMSP spacecraft. The moderate magnetic storm of 14–17 October 2002 is taken as an example of a geomagnetic
disturbance which generates large-scale ionospheric plasma anomalies at mid-latitudes and in the polar cap region. Comparison
of the GPS tomographic reconstructions over Eureka station with the ionosonde measurements of the F layer peak densities indicates
that the GPS tomography correctly predicts the time of arrival and passage of the ionospheric tongue of ionization over the
magnetic pole area, although the tomographic technique appears to under-estimate the value of F peak plasma density. Comparison
with the in situ plasma measurements by the DMSP SSIES instruments shows that the GPS tomography correctly reproduces the
large-scale spatial structure of ionospheric anomalies over a wide range of latitudes from mid-latitudes to the high-latitude
polar cap region, though the tomographic reconstructions tend to over-estimate the density of the topside ionosphere at 840 km
DMSP orbit. This study is essential for understanding the quality and limitations of the tomographic reconstruction techniques,
particularly in high-latitude regions where GPS TEC measurements and other ionospheric data sources are limited. 相似文献

Rail transit continues to be a popular alternative for cities as a tool for alleviating automobile congestion and for redeveloping
areas into transit and pedestrian-friendly environments. Ideally, rail transit will draw trips away from cars, but the quantitative
work that tests this notion has often been either case studies of neighborhoods, in which conclusions are tough to generalize,
or citywide comparisons where important spatial variation is lost in aggregation. This study seeks to narrow this gap in the
research by using multivariate analysis of covariance to isolate the effect of covariates and cities on changes in work trip
mode choice at the traffic analysis zone (TAZ) level for nine cities between 1990 and 2000. The results suggest differences
by city in the change at the TAZ level of the proportion of people driving alone and taking transit. Increases in transit
usage were associated with cities that built rail transit, while increases in automobile commuting and decreases in transit
usage were associated with cities that did not. 相似文献
