phase difference and limited groundtruth data. It has been observed that multi-frequency polarimetric data enhances the potential
of retrieving geo-physical parameters. The polarization signatures are found to vary with the nature of the target. Target
decomposition of the returned signal will be useful for the classification of various features. Polarization Phase Difference

We develop and apply an efficient strategy for Earth gravity field recovery from satellite gravity gradiometry data. Our approach
is based upon the Paige-Saunders iterative least-squares method using QR decomposition (LSQR). We modify the original algorithm
for space-geodetic applications: firstly, we investigate how convergence can be accelerated by means of both subspace and
block-diagonal preconditioning. The efficiency of the latter dominates if the design matrix exhibits block-dominant structure.
Secondly, we address Tikhonov-Phillips regularization in general. Thirdly, we demonstrate an effective implementation of the
algorithm in a high-performance computing environment. In this context, an important issue is to avoid the twofold computation
of the design matrix in each iteration. The computational platform is a 64-processor shared-memory supercomputer. The runtime
results prove the successful parallelization of the LSQR solver. The numerical examples are chosen in view of the forthcoming
satellite mission GOCE (Gravity field and steady-state Ocean Circulation Explorer). The closed-loop scenario covers 1 month
of simulated data with 5 s sampling. We focus exclusively on the analysis of radial components of satellite accelerations
and gravity gradients. Our extensions to the basic algorithm enable the method to be competitive with well-established inversion
strategies in satellite geodesy, such as conjugate gradient methods or the brute-force approach. In its current development
stage, the LSQR method appears ready to deal with real-data applications. 相似文献

A new method for modeling the ionospheric delay using global positioning system (GPS) data is proposed, called the ionospheric
eclipse factor method (IEFM). It is based on establishing a concept referred to as the ionospheric eclipse factor (IEF) λ
of the ionospheric pierce point (IPP) and the IEF’s influence factor (IFF) . The IEF can be used to make a relatively precise distinction between ionospheric daytime and nighttime, whereas the IFF
is advantageous for describing the IEF’s variations with day, month, season and year, associated with seasonal variations
of total electron content (TEC) of the ionosphere. By combining λ and with the local time t of IPP, the IEFM has the ability to precisely distinguish between ionospheric daytime and nighttime, as well as efficiently
combine them during different seasons or months over a year at the IPP. The IEFM-based ionospheric delay estimates are validated
by combining an absolute positioning mode with several ionospheric delay correction models or algorithms, using GPS data at
an international Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) service (IGS) station (WTZR). Our results indicate that the IEFM
may further improve ionospheric delay modeling using GPS data. 相似文献

The Mirdita Ophiolite Zone in Albania is associated with widespread mélanges containing components of up to nappe-size. We
dated matrix and components of the mélange by radiolarians, conodonts, and other taxa. The components consist of radiolarites,
pelagic limestones and shallow-water limestones, all of Triassic age, as well as ophiolites. Triassic radiolarite as a primary
cover of ophiolite material proves Middle Triassic onset of Mirdita ocean-floor formation. The mélange contains a turbiditic
radiolarite-rich matrix (“radiolaritic flysch”), dated as Late Bajocian to Early Oxfordian. It formed as a synorogenic sediment
during west-directed thrusting of ophiolite and sediment-cover nappes representing ocean floor and underplated fragments of
the western continental margin. The tectonic structures formed during these orogenic events (“Younger Kimmeridian or Eohellenic
Orogeny”) are sealed by Late Jurassic platform carbonates. The geological history conforms with that of the Inner Dinarides
and adjoining areas; we therefore correlate the Mirdita-Pindos Ophiolite Zone with the Vardar Zone and explain its present
position by far-distance west-directed thrusting. 相似文献

Application of FLATModel, a 2D finite volume code, to debris flows in the northeastern part of the Iberian Peninsula 总被引:7,自引:3,他引:4
FLATModel is a two-dimensional shallow-water approximation code with corrections and modifications that create a simulation
tool adapted to debris-flows behaviour. FLATModel uses the finite volume method with the numerical implementation of the Godunov
scheme and includes correction terms regarding the effect of flow over high slopes and curvature. Additionally, the stop-and-go
phenomenon, the basal entrainment and a correction regarding the front inclination of the final deposit are incorporated into
FLATModel. In addition, different flow resistance laws were integrated in the numerical code including Bingham, Herschel–Bulkley
and Voellmy fluid model. Firstly, our numerical model was validated using analytical solutions of a dam-break scenario and
published data on a laboratory experiment. Secondly, three real events, which occurred in the northeastern part of the Iberian
Peninsula, were back-calculated. Although field observations of the three events are not very detailed, the back-analyses
revealed interesting patterns on the flow dynamics, and the numerical results generally showed good agreement with field data.
Comparing the different flow resistance laws, the Voellmy fluid model presents the best behaviour regarding both the flow
behaviour and the deposit characteristics. Preliminary simulation runs incorporating the effect of basal entrainment offered
satisfactory results, although the final volume is rather sensitive on the selected friction angle of channel-bed material.
The outcomes regarding the correction of the calculated front inclination of the final deposit showed that this implementation
strongly improves the simulation results and better represents steep fronts of final deposits. 相似文献

This excursion guide results form a field trip to the Glarus nappe complex organized by the Swiss Tectonic Studies Group in 2006. The aim of the excursion was to discuss old and recent concepts related to the evolution of the Glarus thrust. The major aspects were (i) the interplay between deformation, fluid flow and geochemical alteration, (ii) episodic versus continuous deformation and fluid flow, and (iii) the link between large-scale structures, microstructures, and geochemical aspects. Sandwiched between the Adriatic Carbonate Platform and the Dinaride Ophiolite Zone, the Bosnian Flysch forms a c. 3000 m thick, intensely folded stack of Upper Jurassic to Cretaceous mixed carbonate and siliciclastic sediments in the Dinarides. New petrographic, heavy mineral, zircon U/Pb and fission-track data as well as biostratigraphic evidence allow us to reconstruct the palaeogeology of the source areas of the Bosnian Flysch basin in late Mesozoic times. Middle Jurassic intraoceanic subduction of the Neotethys was shortly followed by exhumation of the overriding oceanic plate. Trench sedimentation was controlled by a dual sediment supply from the sub-ophiolitic high-grade metamorphic soles and from the distal continental margin of the Adriatic plate. Following obduction onto Adria, from the Jurassic–Cretaceous transition onwards a vast clastic wedge (Vranduk Formation) was developed in front of the leading edge, fed by continental basement units of Adria that experienced Early Cretaceous synsedimentary cooling, by the overlying ophiolitic thrust sheets and by redeposited elements of coeval Urgonian facies reefs grown on the thrust wedge complex. Following mid-Cretaceous deformation and thermal overprint of the Vranduk Formation, the depozone migrated further towards SW and received increasing amounts of redeposited carbonate detritus released from the Adriatic Carbonate Platform margin (Ugar Formation). Subordinate siliciclastic source components indicate changing source rocks on the upper plate, with ophiolites becoming subordinate. The zone of the continental basement previously affected by the Late Jurassic–Early Cretaceous thermal imprint has been removed; instead, the basement mostly supplied detritus with a wide range of pre-Jurassic cooling ages. However, a c. 80 Ma, largely synsedimentary cooling event is also recorded by the Ugar Formation, that contrasts the predominantly Early Cretaceous cooling of the Adriatic basement and suggests, at least locally, a fast exhumation. 相似文献

Strong motion data from various regions of India have been used to study attenuation characteristics of horizontal peak acceleration and velocity. The strong ground motion data base considered in the present work consists of various earthquakes recorded in the northern part of India since 1986 with magnitudes 5.7 to 7.2. Using these data, relations for horizontal peak acceleration and velocity, which are $$\begin{gathered} log_{10} a = 1.14 + 0.31M + 0.65log_{10} R \hfill \\ log_{10} v = 0.571 + 0.41M + 0.768log_{10} R \hfill \\ \end{gathered} $$ have been proposed wherea is the peak horizontal acceleration in cm/sec2,v is the peak horizontal velocity in mm/sec,M is body wave magnitude, andR is the hypocentral distance in km. The proposed relations are in reasonable agreement with the small amount of strong ground motion data available for the northern part of India. The present results will be useful in estimating strong ground motion parameters and in the earthquake resistant design in the Himalayan region. 相似文献

Summary The efficacy of ion exchange in petrological systems, for example the Fe-Mg exchange between garnet and biotite, is a function of grainsize, temperature, rates of temperature change and diffusion parameters. The combination of these variables determines the final zoning profile of minerals. Therefore, zoning profiles may be used to derive one of these variables if the others are known. For example, a mineral grain that experienced a short thermal event may still preserve a zoning profile characteristic of the heating path. In contrast, if that grain experienced a long thermal event it may develop a zoning profile typical of the cooling path. Conversely, for the same temperature-time cycle, large grains may not completely equilibrate at the metamorphic peak, and in smaller grains any previous record may have been erased. This is commonly observed in natural rocks where different grains within one thin section preserve often qualitatively different zoning profiles. Thus, a critical grainsize,l
crit, may exist that separates grains with qualitatively different zoning profiles so that grains of sizel >

If the critical grainsize can be measured and an independent estimate for the peak metamorphic temperature exists, the duration of the thermal event may, in principle, be estimated.The applicability of this method to natural garnets is hampered by a range of uncertainties. However, a parameterisation of the critical grain size may be used to illustrate the relative importance of grain size, temperature and event duration to the equilibration of minerals. In this paper, the critical grainsize is parameterized for various temperature-time cycles and its dependence on diffusion parameters is discussed. It is shown that, for Barrovian conditions,l
crit between 0.1 and 1 mm separates garnets retaining prograde information from garnets retaining cooling path information. For illustration, we compare the results with the critical grainsize of garnets from two metamorphic terranes, the Prydz Bay region (Antarctica) and the Koralm complex (Eastern Alps). Despite the large range of uncertainties attached to the method, it is shown that the critical grainsize of garnets in both terranes is consistent with a very short duration of the last thermal event that affected the two regions.

Zusammenfassung Zonierungsprofile von Paragenesen im Ionenaustausch, zum Beispiel das Fe-Mg Austauschsgleichgewicht zwischen Granat und Biotit, sind eine Funktion von (i) Korngröße, (ii) Temperatur, (iii) Kühl- und Heizgeschwindigkeit sowie (iv) den Diffusionskonstanen. Es sollte daher möglich sein, Zonierungsprofile dazu zu verwenden, einen dieser Parameter zu bestimmen, wenn die anderen bekannt sind. Zonierungsprofile von Kristallen die ein kurzes thermisches Ereignis erfahren haben, mögen daher prograde Information beinhalten, wogegen derselbe Kristall ein retrogrades Profil aufweisen mag, wenn er einem langlebigen thermischen Ereignis unterlag (prograd und retrograd ist hier als: bei ansteigender Temperatur und bei abfallender Temperatur definiert). In Kristallen die dem gleichen Temperatur-Zeitpfad unterworfen waren, könnten kleine Körner nur die Kühlgeschichte dokumentieren, wogegen große noch Zonierungsinformation vom Heizpfad aufweisen. In natürlichen Gesteinen wird das oft dadurch beobachtet, daß verschiedene Körner auseinem Dünnschliff qualitativ verschiedene Zonierungsprofile aufweisen. Es ist daher möglich eine kritische Korngöße,l crit, zu definieren, die Korngrößen mit qualitativ verschiedenen Zonierungsprofilen voneinander trennt. Körner mit einem Durchmesserl > l crit haben, zumindest teilweise, noch prograde Profile, wogegen Körner mitl <l crit nur retrograde Information dokumentieren. Wenn man diese kritische Korngröße messen kann, sollte sie dazu benutzt werden können, etwas über die Dauer des thermischen Ereignisses auszusagen.Die Anwendbarkeit dieser Methode ist durch eine Reihe von Fehlern limitiert. Nichtsdestotrotz, ist eine Parameterisierung der kritischen Korngröße nützlich um die relative Wichtigkeit von Korngröße, Temperatur und Zeit, für die Entwicklung von Zonierungsprofilen, zu illustrieren. Unser Modell kann dazu benutzt werden, um die Größenordnung von Granaten abzuschätzen, die noch prograde Information dokumentieren können. Die Abhängigkeit der kritischen Korngröße von Diffusionsparametern und der Form des Temperatur-Zeit Pfades wird ebenfalls diskutiert. Es wird gezeigt, daß für Metamorphose in der mittleren Grünschiefer und Amphibolit fazies,l crit zwischen 0.1 and 1 mm prograd zonierte von retrograd zonierten Granaten trennt. Um das Modell zu illustrieren, werden die Ergebnisse auf die Prydz Bay Region (Antarktis) und den Koralm Komplex (Ostalpen) angewendet. Trotz der großen Fehlergrenzen der Methode glauben wir zeigen zu können, daß die kritische Korngröße beider Terrains andeutet, daß das letzte thermische Ereignis in beiden Gebieten kurzlebig war.
