We present the energy losses due to several neutrinos processes: (1) synchrotron neutrinos, (2) pair annihilation neutrinos, (3) plasmon neutrinos, and (4) photoneutrinos in the presence of a superstrong magnetic field. Numerical results are tabulated and illustrated for several values of densities and temperatures. In the low density regime (107 g cm–3) the presence of a magnetic field decreases the luminosity, whereas the opposite is true at higher densities. This last effect is however almost entirely due to the existence of a new process the synchrotron neutrinos that disappear whenH0. Even though the overall effect can only be quantitatively ascertain after a complete cooling computation is performed, one should however expect a much lower temperature for neutron star surface than the one computed in theH=0 case. 相似文献

A phenomenological model of the interplay between the polar magnetic fields of the Sun and the solar sector structure is discussed. Current sheets separate regions of opposite polarity and mark the sector boundaries in the corona. The sheets are visible as helmet streamers. The solar sector boundary is tilted with respect to central meridian, and boundaries with opposite polarity change are oppositely tilted. The tilt of a given type of boundary [(+, ?) or (?, +)] changes systematically during the sunspot cycle as the polarity of the polar fields reverses. Similar reversals of the position of the streamers at the limbs takes place. If we consider (a) a sunspot cycle where the northern polar field is inward (?) during the early part of the cycle and (b) a (+, ?) sector boundary at central meridian then the model predicts the following pattern; a streamer at high northern latitudes should be observed over the west limb together with a corresponding southern streamer over the east limb. The current sheet runs now NW-SE. At sunspot maximum the boundary is more in the N-S direction; later when the polar fields have completed their reversal the boundary runs NE-SW and the northern streamer should be observed over the east limb and the southern streamer over the west limb. Observational evidence in support of the model is presented, especially the findings of Hansen, Sawyer and Hansen and Koomen and Howard that the K-corona is highly structured and related to the solar sector structure. 相似文献

Stellar winds from a binary star pair will interact with each other along a contact discontinuity. We discuss qualitatively the geometry of the flow and field resulting from this interaction in the simplest case where the stars and winds are identical. We consider the shape of the critical surface (defined as the surface where the flow speed is equal to the sound speed) as a function of stellar separation and the role of shock waves in the flow field. The effect of stellar spin and magnetic sectors on the field configuration is given. The relative roles of mass loss and magnetic torque in the evolution of orbital parameters are discussed. 相似文献

The distance of closest approach to the small primary is assumed to be of the same order as the mass-ratio μ of small to large primary. The CN band spectrum of Comet Bennett 1970 II was photographed on April 14, 1970. In addition to the (0,0) band, some other faint lines were observed, which arise either from the (1,1) band of the normal isotopic species or from the (0,0) band of 13CN. The Swings effect was investigated theoretically and found to give good agreement with observation. An estimate is made of the pure rotational transition rate in the ground state of CN.Absolute intensities of the CN lines were found by comparison with the lunar spectrum. The nightime cooling of the Jovian atmosphere near the occulation level of 1014cm?3 is calculated using the models of Strobel (1973) and Strobel and Smith (1973). The amount of cooling is found to depend on χ, the methane mixing ratio; μ the mean molecular weight; and the sunrise temperature. Using the range of sunrise (emersion) temperatures observed by Veverka et al. (1974), the overnight cooling is calculated to be 1.5–5.5°K, if reasonable assumptions are made for χ and μ. The argument may be reversed to show that the agreement in measured sunrise and sunset temperatures obtained by other observers of the β Sco occulation implies that χ cannot be significantly greater than the generally accepted value of 7 ×10?4. 相似文献

On 16 March 1973, the York U./U.S.U. chemiluminescent nitric oxide instrument was flown successfully from Hollomon Air Force Base, New Mexico, 32° 50·1′ N lat. The instrument was operated between 17:40 and 22:05UT. Most of the measurements were carried out during three ascent, float and descent cycles between 17·4 and 22·9 km. Within the uncertainty of the measurements no differences were seen among results obtained during ascent, float and descent mode, which indicated that there were no major sampling problems resulting from contamination of the atmosphere. The NO mixing ratio was found to be 0·1 ppb v/v with an accuracy of 60 per cent. No change was observed within this accuracy over the small altitude range investigated. 相似文献
