The dielectric constants and dissipation factors of synthetic tephroite (Mn2SiO4), fayalite (Fe3SiO4) and a forsteritic olivine (Mg1.80Fe0.22SiO4) were measured at 1 MHz using a two-terminal method and empirically determined edge corrections. The results are: tephroite, κ′a= 8.79 tan δa = 0.0006 κ′b = 10.20 tan δb = 0.0006 κ′c= 8.94 tan δc= 0.0008 fayalite, gk′a = 8.80 tan δa = 0.0004 gk′b= 8.92 tan δb = 0.0018 gk′c = 8.58 tan δc = 0.0010 olivine, gk′a = 7.16 tan δa = 0.0006 gk′b = 7.61 tan δb = 0.0008 gk′c = 7.03 tan δc = 0.0006 The low dielectric constant and loss of the fayalite indicate an exceptionally low Fe3+ content. An FeO polarizability of 4.18 Å3, determined from αD(FeO) = [αD (Fe2SiO4)-αD(SiO2)]/2, is probably a more reliable value for stoichiometric FeO than could be obtained from FexO where x = 0.90–0.95. The agreement between measured dielectric polarizabilities as determined from the Clausius-Mosotti equation and those calculated from the sum of oxide polarizabilities according to αD(M2M′X2) = 2αD(MX) + αD(M′X2) is ~+2.8% for tephroite and +0.2% for olivine. The deviation from additivity in tephroite is discussed.  相似文献

The Late Vendian (540–550 Ma) U–Pb zircon age of postcollisional granitoids in the Osinovka Massif was obtained for the first time. The Osinovka Massif is located in rocks of the island-arc complex of the Isakovka Terrane, in the northwestern part of the Sayany–Yenisei accretion belt. These events stand for the final stage of the Neoproterozoic history of the Yenisei Ridge, related to the completing accretion of the oceanic crust fragments and the beginning of the Caledonian orogenesis. The petrogeochemical composition and the Sm–Nd isotopic characteristics support the fact that the granitoid melt originated from a highly differentiated continental crust of the southwestern margin of the Siberian Craton. Hence, the granite-bearing Late Riphean island-arc complexes were thrust over the craton margin at a distance considerably exceeding the dimensions of the Osinovka Massif.  相似文献

Three magmatic units (Grande Cascade pyroclastic deposits, Grande Cascade lava flow, Durbise nuée ardente deposits) from the Quaternary volcano Sancy (Mont-Dore area, Auvergne, France) show textural evidences of magma mixing between a silica undersaturated basic magma (alkali basalt and hawaiite) and an acid magma (quartz-bearing trachyte). Three kinds of mixed rock types are described: basic inclusions within an acid host, « emulsified rocks » showing infracentimetric basic globules disseminated within an acid groundmass, and « banded rocks » in which elongated acid and basic zones alternate. The chemical compositions of mixed rocks plot systematically onto linear trends in petrographic diagrams. Microprobe analyses of the groundmass show similar linear variations between basic and acid end-members. The mineralogical associations of these mixed rocks are highly complex and present many disequilibrium features. Olivine is stable in the basic component and becomes rimmed by orthopyroxene in the acid one. Zoning patterns of feldspars are complex. Clinopyroxene, kaersutite and phlogopite phenocrysts have increasing component Mg contents from core to rim both in the basic and the acid. Titanomagnetite and hemoilmenite phenocrysts were equilibrated at 900-800° C under high oxygen fugacities.Mixing results primarily from a mechanical disintegration of partly liquid basic inclusions within their acid host, and also from a mechanical transfer of phenocrysts from one component to the other, in which they often remain surrounded by a coating of their original groundmass. Chemical data on the groundmass indicates that some « true » hybridization between coexisting acid and basic liquids may also have occurred. The extent of mixing is controlled by the type of emplacement. For pyroclastic deposits a chemical gap exists between basic inclusions and their acid hosts; in contrast, mechanical mixing was enhanced during the emplacement of the viscous Grande Cascade lava flow, and complete transitions occur between basic and acid components. The two end-members are genetically associated, the latter deriving from the former by crystal fractionation. Mixing appears as a late-stage phenomenon in the petrogenetic history of the Mont-Dore series; in the case of the Grande Cascade lava flow, its extent is primarily dependent on emplacement modalities.  相似文献

A formula for the effective fetch of micrometeorological evaporation measurements is derived by application of diffusion theory, using Calder's approximation of a uniform wind field and neutral atmospheric stability. The San Lorenzo area belongs to the Esmeraldas–Tumaco seismic zone where some of the strongest earthquakes of South America occurred during the 20th century. This paper provides evidence for a succession of geomorphic changes characterized by the disruption of the Quaternary drainage network and the reshaping of the Cayapas–Santiago estuary. The rise of the La Boca uplift bordered by the La Boca and San Lorenzo faults is responsible for the southward diversion of the Palabi, Tululbi, Bogotá and Carolina rivers toward the Santiago and Cayapas rivers. The increase of the discharge directed to the Cayapas River generated the change of the channel pattern downstream from the confluence, and the avulsion of a new estuary through the coastal plain. According to the dating of beach ridges the avulsion occurred in the period 3200–2800 BP. This period corresponds also to a faster accretion of the beach ridge margin, interpreted as a response to a small uplift of the shore. The coherency of the three morphologic evidences—diversion of drainage network, avulsion and increase of coastal accretion—suggest a unique morphotectonic event, in relation with the activity of the Esmaraldas–Tumaco seismic zone. The opening of a direct communication through the mangrove margin may have brought favorable conditions for the development of the La Tolita archaeological site after 3000 BP.  相似文献

The properties of accretion discs around stars and brown dwarfs in the σ Ori cluster (age 3 Myr) are studied based on near-infrared (IR) time series photometry supported by mid-IR spectral energy distributions (SEDs). We monitor ∼30 young low-mass sources over eight nights in the J and K band using the duPont telescope at Las Campanas. We find three objects showing variability with J -band amplitudes  ≥0.5 mag  ; five additional objects exhibit low-level variations. All three highly variable sources have been previously identified as highly variable; thus, we establish the long-term nature of their flux changes. The light curves contain periodic components with time-scales of  ∼0.5–8 d  , but have additional irregular variations superimposed – the characteristic behaviour for classical T Tauri stars. Based on the colour variability, we conclude that hotspots are the dominant cause of variations in two objects (#19 and #33), including one likely brown dwarf, with spot temperatures in the range of 6000–7000 K. For the third one (#2), a brown dwarf or very low-mass star, inhomogeneities at the inner edge of the disc are the likely origin of variability. Based on mid-IR data from Spitzer , we confirm that the three highly variable sources are surrounded by circum-(sub)-stellar discs. They show typical SEDs for T Tauri-like objects. Using SED models, we infer an enhanced scaleheight in the disc for the object #2, which favours the detection of disc inhomogeneities in light curves and is thus consistent with the information from variability. In the σ Ori cluster, about every fifth accreting low-mass object shows persistent high-level photometric variability. We demonstrate that estimates for fundamental parameters in such objects can be significantly improved by determining the extent and origin of the variations.  相似文献

Increased accuracy in measuring temporal variations in the Earth's gravity field allow inprinciple the use of gravity observations to deduce subsurface water-mass changes. This canbe with respect to a small area, or as a larger spatial average of water mass change usinggravity observations from low-altitude satellites, such as the forthcoming GRACE mission.At both scales, there is a need to validate gravity-based estimates against field recordings ofactual subsurface water-mass variations. In practice, this could prove difficult because thespatial integral of all water-storage change components can be subject to considerable fieldmeasurement error. An alternative approach to the validation process is proposed by whichsuitable geological formations are utilized as giant weighing devices to directly measure area-integratedwater-mass changes. The existence of such natural geological weighing lysimetersis demonstrated using observations from a replicated experimental site in New Zealand. Sitesof this type could be used to verify water-storage change estimates derived from sensitiveground surface gravity instrumentation. In addition, geological lysimeters could be used tomake local checks on the accuracy of any estimated regional water-mass time series, whichis proposed for satellite calibration. The land area weighed by a geological lysimeter increaseswith formation depth and it is speculated that recordings made at oil well depth may allowdirect monitoring of subsurface water mass changes at the regional scale.  相似文献

We describe the first X-ray monitoring of a symbiotic star during phases of enhanced activity. AG Dra is a Pop II object with a composite spectrum, characterized by a cool K-type component, prominent high ionization emission lines and a strong UV continuum which is attributed to a hot dwarf companion. Periodic variability of the UV radiation during minimum could be attributed to the orbital motion of the system. In April 1980 HEAO-2 detected an intense, soft X-ray flux from AG Dra, stronger than in other symbiotic stars. After one major outburst of November 1980, which continued until 1983, two more outbursts occurred in February 1985 and January 1986, and coordinated X-ray (EXOSAT) and ultraviolet (IUE) observations were organized to study the behaviour of AG Dra during different activity phases. EXOSAT observations made during decline after the 1985 outburst, revealed a weak X-ray flux in the Thin Lexan filter of the Low Energy dedtector. Observations made during minimum, in June and November 1985, at phases 0.22 and 0.50 of the UV light curve, disclosed the presence of an intense X-ray flux, which was not occulted in November. AG Dra was again observed with EXOSAT in February 1986 when the stellar luminosity was still at maximum. No X-ray flux was detected, in spite of the prominent, high ionization UV spectrum observed with IUE.A detailed discussion of the X-ray and ultraviolet results on AG Dra in the light of possible models is in progress.Paper presented at the IAU Colloquium No. 93 on Cataclysmic Variables. Bulk deposition samples were collected during a summer (1997) and a winter (1998) measurement campaign at four coastal stations along the southern Baltic Sea coast and on the Island of Gotland. The data were used to construct Pb and Cd deposition fields over the Baltic Sea. A weak gradient with decreasing deposition rates from the southwest towards the east and north was obtained for Pb. In the case of Cd, the spatial distribution pattern was characterized by an extreme deposition maximum at the Polish station on the Hel Peninsula. The total atmospheric input of Pb and Cd into the Baltic Sea was 550 and 33 t/year, respectively, and exceeds the riverine input by approximately about 50%. Previous measurement-based estimates were higher by a factor 2–3 and indicate a decrease of the atmospheric deposition during the past 10–15 years. The comparison with modelled deposition data yielded partly large differences and was impaired by the fact that 1990 emission inventories were used whereas our measurements were performed in 1997/1998.Relating our deposition estimate and the Pb/Cd input by rivers to the mean concentrations in Baltic Sea water, residence times of 0.29 and 3.6 years were obtained for Pb and Cd, respectively.  相似文献
