Analyses for major, minor, and trace element contents of metamorphosed, variably rodingitized mafic rocks demonstrate substantial removal of Na and as much as three-fold gains in Ca as a consequence of rodingitization. Modest declines in Si and Fe can be explained in terms of dilution effects. Losses in K and Ba do not correlate with Ca% and may have been caused by an alteration process not related to the rodingitization. The Ca-metasomatism was not accompanied by a gain in Sr. The relative contents of Ti, Zr, Hf, Y, Co, Sc, and heavy REE show no readily detectable changes, despite the rodingitization (±other alteration) and subsequent metamorphisms, namely, eclogite facies (T800° C, P 20kbar) followed by amphibolite facies, sillimanite zone. Protoliths were tholeiitic basalt or diabase, and gabbro, with trace element contents indicative of a spreading center origin. Trace element and REE patterns indicate low-pressure fractionation of this magma, with plagioclase stable. This petrogenesis is consistent with prior conclusions on the shallow crustal origin of the protolith of the eclogite-metarodingite-garnet lherzolite suite in the Cima Lunga-Adula nappe, Central Alps. Based on their bulk chemical composition, the mafic rocks in this suite could be the equivalent of Mesozoic ophiolitic rocks in the more external parts of the Alps.  相似文献

We have analyzed nitrogen, neon and argon abundances and isotopic ratios in target material exposed in space for 27 months to solar wind (SW) irradiation during the Genesis mission. SW ions were extracted by sequential UV (193 nm) laser ablation of gold-plated material, purified separately in a dedicated line, and analyzed by gas source static mass spectrometry. We analyzed gold-covered stainless steel pieces from the Concentrator, a device that concentrated SW ions by a factor of up to 50. Despite extensive terrestrial N contamination, we could identify a non-terrestrial, 15N-depleted nitrogen end-member that points to a 40% depletion of 15N in solar-wind N relative to inner planets and meteorites, and define a composition for the present-day Sun (15N/14N = [2.26 ± 0.67] × 10−3, 2σ), which is indistinguishable from that of Jupiter’s atmosphere. These results indicate that the isotopic composition of nitrogen in the outer convective zone of the Sun has not changed through time, and is representative of the protosolar nebula. Large 15N enrichments due to e.g., irradiation, low temperature isotopic exchange, or contributions from 15N-rich presolar components, are therefore required to account for inner planet values.  相似文献

Recent findings on the distribution of methylated mercury (MeHgT) in waters have highlighted the importance of organic carbon remineralization on the production of these compounds in the open ocean. Here, we present the first time-series (20 monthly samplings between July 2007 and May 2009) of high-resolution vertical profiles (10-12 depths in a 2350 m water column) of MeHgT distributions in an open ocean environment, the Ligurian Sea (North-western Mediterranean Sea). Concentrations varied within the sub-picomolar range (general mean: 0.30 ± 0.17 pmol L−1, n = 214) with the lowest values at the surface, increasing with depth up to the oxygen minimum zone, and decreasing slowly at greater depth. Concentrations in the surface waters never exceeded 0.15 pmol L−1, while the highest concentrations (up to 0.82 pmol L−1) were associated to the hypoxycline during the autumn bloom. A detailed vertical MeHgT profile reveals a “double-peak” pattern, coincidental with the two microbial layers described by Tanaka and Rassoulzadegan (2002), the so-called “microbial food web” in the euphotic zone (<100 m) and the “microbial loop” in the aphotic zone (>100 m). Temporal variations in the MeHgT abundance and distribution in the water column were linked to seasonality. The highest MeHgT concentrations were found in the oxygen minimum zone during the period of stratification, and coincide with the greatest abundance of nano- and picophytoplankton (cyanobacteria, nanoflagellates, etc.) in the euphotic layer. None of our deep MeHgT measurements (∼100 m above the sea bottom) revealed a significant sedimentary source of MeHgT. We explored the correlation between MeHgT concentrations and the apparent oxygen utilization, a proxy of organic matter remineralization, over the study period. Results of this study strengthen the hypothesis that net mercury methylation in the open ocean occurs in the water column, is linked to organic matter regeneration, and is promoted by the presence of small-sized nano- and picophytoplankton, that dominate under oligotrophic conditions.  相似文献

Extension of remote sensing of planetary bodies to the ultraviolet is now feasiable up to 2000 Å from earth-orbiting telescopes and spacecraft. The benefits of this extension is analysed on the basis of laboratory spectra taken on a large variety of terrestrial, lunar and meteoritic samples. Knowledge of the albedo for two wavelengths at 2300 and 6500 Å permits classification of a surface into one of the following types: lunar, carbonaceous chondrites, ordinary chondrites, achondrites or acidic rocks, basaltic rocks, irons. For lunar-type surfaces, a simple albedo measurement at 6500 Å can be converted into quantitative abundance determinations of silicate, aluminium oxide and iron; a large amount of telescopic lunar photometry data is available for mapping these abundances. Extension of the photometry to 2300 Å permits quantitative measurement of TiO2 abundances. For asteroids and non-icy satellites, rock-type classification and constraints in chemical abundances of Si, Al, Fe and Ti can be derived from photometry at 2300 and 6500 Å. The IUE telescope already orbiting the earth, the Space Telescope to come, the lunar polar orbiter and other spacecraft under prospect are potentially available to provide the photometric observations at 6500 and 2300 Å required.  相似文献

Conclusions The substantial body of literature produced in the last two decades bears witness to the marked development of the geography of tourism in France over this period. This research has been strongly influenced by traditional geographic thought and is notable for the logic which underlies it. At the same time much remains to be done, with various avenues for future research being suggested in this paper. French geographers might also look increasingly outwards and to the work of others. By considering new and different methodologies, theories and fields of interest, the conceptual base of the subject might be enlarged and a more systematic approach developed. This need is keenly felt and this opening up is starting to occur, particularly through the exchange of ideas with foreign geographers at meetings of the national or international (IGU) commissions on the geography of tourism.  相似文献
