We study the influence of X-rays on the wind structure of selected O stars. For this purpose we use our non-local thermodynamic equilibrium (NLTE) wind code with inclusion of additional artificial source of X-rays, assumed to originate in the wind shocks.
We show that the influence of shock X-ray emission on wind mass-loss rate is relatively small. Wind terminal velocity may be slightly influenced by the presence of strong X-ray sources, especially for stars cooler than   T eff≲ 35 000 K  .
We discuss the origin of the   L X/ L ∼ 10−7  relation. For stars with thick wind this relation can be explained assuming that the cooling time depends on wind density. Stars with optically thin winds exhibiting the 'weak wind problem' display enhanced X-ray emission which may be connected with large shock cooling length. We propose that this effect can explain the 'weak wind problem'.
Inclusion of X-rays leads to a better agreement of the model ionization structure with observations. However, we do not find any significant influence of X-rays on P  v ionization fraction implying that the presence of X-rays cannot explain the P  v problem.
We study the implications of modified ionization equilibrium due to shock emission on the line transfer in the X-ray region. We conclude that the X-ray line profiles of helium-like ions may be affected by the line absorption within the cool wind.  相似文献

Seismic profiles and well data from the Doukkala basin unravel the structure of the Palaeozoic basement and suggest that this coastal zone of western Morocco was affected by a compressive phase during the Frasnian. This resulted in the formation of upright, plurikilometric folds associated with reverse faults (North Doukkala), and of asymmetrical folds associated with mostly west verging ramps (South Doukkala). Folding involved all pre-Upper Frasnian formations and caused partial or total hiatus of Upper Frasnian–Strunian strata. This event can be correlated with the orogenic phase reported from more internal domains of the Morocco Hercynian belt, where it is referred to as the ‘Bretonne’ or ‘Eovariscan’ phase. A reliable estimation of sediment transport in gravel‐bed streams is important for various practical engineering and biological studies (e.g., channel stability design, bed degradation/aggradation, restoration of spawning habitat). In the present work, we report original laboratory experiments investigating the transport of gravel particles at low bed shear stresses. The laboratory tests were conducted under unsteady flow conditions inducing low bed shear stresses, with detailed monitoring of the bed topography using a laser scanner. Effects of bed surface arrangements were documented by testing loose and packed bed configurations. Effects of fine sediments were examined by testing beds with sand, artificial fine sand or cohesive silt infiltrated in the gravel matrix. Analysis of the experimental data revealed that the transport of gravel particles depends upon the bed arrangement, the bed material properties (e.g., size and shape, consolidation index, permeability) and the concentration of fine sediments within the surface layer of moving grains. This concentration is directly related to the distribution of fine particles within the gravel matrix (i.e., bottom‐up infiltration or bridging) and their transport mode (i.e., bedload or suspended load). Compared to loose beds, the mobility of gravel is reduced for packed beds and for beds clogged from the bottom up with cohesive fine sediments; in both cases, the bed shear stress for gravel entrainment increases by about 12%. On the other hand, the mobility of gravel increases significantly (bed shear stress for particle motion decreasing up to 40%) for beds clogged at the surface by non‐cohesive sand particles. The solar eclipse on August 11, 1999, observed in the region covered by many geomagnetic observatories, has offered a unique opportunity to look for an effect of the eclipse on geomagnetic pulsations. The pulsation activity digital data have been taken from Budkov Observatory in the Czech Republic (in the X component only), from observatories in Germany (Niemegk, Fürstenfeldbruck, Bad Bergzabern), in Hungary (Nagycenk), and for comparison in South Africa (Hermanus, conjugate-point station), and in Finland (Sodankylä, far from the eclipse zone). At all these stations the field in all three component has been recorded. The pulsation amplitudes in the X component exhibit a long-term minimum near the time of the eclipse. Spectral analysis of selected short intervals confirmed this decrease and also revealed a decrease of the average pulsation period during the eclipse. Such a change in the amplitude or in the period was not observed outside of the eclipse interval or in other days. Investigation in some narrower frequency bands showed that the maximal decrease occurred in the 15–20 s band. All these changes can be found in records from all the stations near the eclipse totality belt, also in records at the conjugate-point station, where no eclipse occurred. No signature has been found in records at the station situated far from the eclipse zone.  相似文献

Résumén

Dans certaines régions où les sédiments récents (plio-quaternaires) sont rares ou inutilisables comme enregistreurs de déformations, seule l’analyse morpho-strcturale peut mettre en évidence des indices de néotectonique. Deux types d’objets morphologiques se révèlent particulièrement utiles : les surfaces (d’érosion et de comblement) et le réseau hydrographique. Leur prise en compte et leur analyse s’effectuent essentiellement à partir des cartes topographiques à différentes échelles (de 1/50 000 à 1/500 000).

* La démarche est la suivante: 1 – Des traitements appropriés sont développés, mettant en évidence des discontinuités et des anomalies au sein des surfaces enveloppes et du réseau hydrographiques;

2 – Ces discontinuités sont analysées puis interprétées afin de déterminer les causes de leur existence dans le cadre d’un modèle d’évolution du relief qui tient compte de facteurs internes (la lithologie, la structure), et de facteurs externes (le climat, la végétation et les actions humaines);

3 – Des travaux de terrain confirment et précisent les caractéristiques de ces facteurs (nature et quantification de la déformation : âge. amplitude, sens des mouvements).

* Les principaux résultats de cette démarche appliquée à l’Kst du Bassin parisien sont les suivants: 1 – Les cuestas orientales du Bassin parisien apparaissent structurées par des accidents NK-SW (prolongement du fossé de Sarre Nahe) et NNW-SSK ( Argonne-Bar-le-Due);

2 – Les discontinuités morpho-structurales sont localisées et caractérisées par des mouvements récents.

Résumé Le 21 août 1954, un fort courant du Sud-Ouest en bordure d'un îlot d'air froid stationnaire sur la France provoque une baisse lente de température dans la région des Alpes suisses ainsi que d'abondantes précipitations de mélange et d'instabilité pseudolabile. La progression de l'air froid se fait de façon discontinue et s'accompagne de rapides variations de pression dues en partie à l'instabilité troposphérique.
Summary On August 21, 1954, an intense south-western current produced at the border of a stationary cold air pool over France a slow drop in temperature in the Swiss Alps with abundant precipitations of mixing and pseudo-labile instability. The cold air advanced, discontinuously and was accompanied by rapid pressure variations partly due to tropospherical instability.

Zusammenfassung Am 21. August 1954 erzeugte eine starke Südwestströmung am Rande eines stationären Kaltlufttropfens über Frankreich in den Schweinzer Alpen einen langsamen Temperaturfall mit ergiebigen Mischungs- und pseudolabilen Instabilitätsniederschlägen. Das Vorrücken der Kaltluft erfolgte in diskontinuierlicher Weise und war von schnellen Druckschwankungen begleitet, die teilweise auf die troposphärische Instabilität zurückzuführen sind.

The thermal evolution of the only known Alpine (Cretaceous) granite in the Western Carpathians (Rochovce granite) is studied by low-temperature thermochronological methods. Our apatite fission track and apatite (U-Th)/He ages range from 17.5 ± 1.1 to 12.9 ± 0.9 Ma, and 12.9 ± 1.8 to 11.3 ± 0.8 Ma, respectively. The data thus show that the Rochovce granite records a thermal event in the Middle to early Late Miocene, which was likely related to mantle upwelling, volcanic activity, and increased heat flow. During the thermal maximum between ~17 and 8 Ma, the granite was heated to temperatures ? 60 °C. Increase of cooling rates at ~12 Ma recorded by the apatic fission track and (U-Th)/He data is primarily related to the cessation of the heating event and relaxation of the isotherms associated with the termination of the Neogene volcanic activity. This contradicts the accepted concept, which stipulates that the internal parts of the Western Carpathians were not thermally affected during the Cenozoic period. The Miocene thermal event was not restricted to the investigated part of the Western Carpathians, but had regional character and affected several basement areas in the Western Carpathians, the Pannonian basin and the margin of the Eastern Alps.  相似文献
