The results of the selection of a model of the deep density distribution in the lithosphere of Central and Southern Asia, which explains the previously revealed dependence of the free mantle surface depth on the thickness of the crust [Artemjev, 1975], are described. It is shown that this dependence can be caused by variations in the mantle’s density with depth. Models of the continental and oceanic mantles with an increase in the linear density over depth are selected for the region of Asia. The level of the free surface depth in the oceanic mantle is higher than in the continental mantle. The observed dependence on the crustal thickness can also be used for determining nonlinear density variations with depth under the assumption that lateral density variations in this dependence are of a random character.  相似文献

The solution of the classical problem of two-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) interaction between two shocks (the angle between the interacting shocks and the slope of the magnetic field are arbitrary) obtained by Pushkar' (1995) is applied to the problem of interaction between interplanetary shocks and the solar wind termination shock (TS). The self-consistent kinetic-gasdynamic model of solar wind interaction with the supersonic flow of a three-component (electrons, protons, and hydrogen atoms) interstellar medium developed for the axisymmetric, steady-state case by Baranov and Malama (1993) is used as the stationary background against which the physical phenomenon under consideration takes place. The main physical process in this model is the resonant charge exchange between protons and hydrogen atoms. This paper is a natural continuation of our previous papers (Baranov et al. 1996a, 1996b). However, whereas attention in these papers was focused on the TS interaction with an interplanetary forward shock moving away from the Sun, here we consider the TS interaction with an interplanetary reverse shock (RS) moving toward the Sun with a velocity lower than the solar-wind velocity. We show that the TS-RS interaction can give rise to a new TS' that moves toward the Sun, i.e., toward Voyager 1 and Voyager 2. This phenomenon may be responsible for the unexpected suggestion made by some of the scientists that Voyager 1 already crossed TS in the past year. This conclusion was drawn from the interpretation of the intensity, energy spectra, and angular distributions of ions in the energy range from 10 keV to 40 MeV measured from this spacecraft. Our results show that Voyager 1 could cross TS' rather than TS.  相似文献

It is used for expanding the distance between two arbitrary gravitating points and its inverse quantity in appropriate series. The evolution of the trajectories of small objects not entirely ejected from the solar system and subject to significant perturbations owing to the regular galactic field is studied. These objects may be individual dust particles, comets, or, in the case of other stars, large dust clouds and stellar satellites. The possibility of averaging their motion over the period of the galactic rotation is examined. The averaged equations are solved in terms of elliptic functions. The eccentricity of the orbit also evolves, but returns periodically to its original value, ~1, corresponding to ejection if the interaction with individual stars is neglected. The slope of the line of apsides with respect to the galactic plane evolves in two ways: with time it either passes through 90° or through 0°.  相似文献

Field studies performed at the Shirshov Institute of Oceanology, Russian Academy of Sciences (SIO RAS), Black Sea hydrophysical polygon in 2012 are illustrated. The variations in the vertical distribution of the hydrophysical characteristics (water temperature, salinity, and density, as well as current velocity) in the upper 200-m layer of the Black Sea above the continental slope in the cold season, obtained using an Aqualog autonomous profiler on a moored buoy station, have been analyzed. It has been established that the position of the permanent pycno-halocline and the hydrosulphuric zone upper boundary intensively oscillate with a characteristic period of 5–10 days. These oscillations cause short-period variations in the thickness of the oxigenated layer by 20–40 m, which reaches one-third of the total thickness of the layer. Measurements performed with autonomous stations (bottom ADCP, thermochain) at the experimental subsatellite polygon in the Gelendzhik coastal zone, as well as meteorological, ship, and satellite data obtained during the catastrophic rains and flooding on July 6–7, 2012, and afterward, have been simultaneously analyzed. It has been established that a catastrophic flow of turbid fresh water into the sea caused the formation of a belt of freshened (by 1.0–2.7 psu) less dense water with a high suspension concentration on the shelf and the upper continental slope. This water formed a quasi-geostrophic northwestward along-shore current, the velocity of which reached 40–50 cm/s. Therefore, the freshened and turbid water mostly escaped from the Gelendzhik region northwestward for two days after the flood, and the remaining water became free of suspension owing to its settlement during approximately the same period. The fields of the current velocity and suspension concentration in a submesoscale cyclonic eddy, identified on the satellite image, were measured at the hydrophysical polygon. It has been established that a high (when compared to the background values) suspension concentration in the surface-water layer in an eddy is related to intense upwelling at the eddy center and the rising of suspension (apparently phytoplankton) from the thermocline layer, where the suspension concentration is maximal.  相似文献

This study is concerned with the aftershock process of the Mw 6.1 Storfjorden Strait, Spitsbergen earthquake of February 21, 2008, which was the largest to have occurred in the West Arctic shelf during the entire history of instrumental observation. The aftershock sequence was fitted by relaxation models and the ETAS model and was found to be a combination of two processes, a relaxation process and a triggered one. We propose a hypothesis about the relationship between seismicity and disturbances of fluid dynamic equilibrium in the seafloor of the Storfjord Strait.  相似文献

The results of a test experiment comparing quasi-synchronous data of three adjacent acoustic Doppler current profilers (ADCPs) deployed on the shelf bottom of the Black Sea in September 2014 are considered. The direct aim of the experiment was quantitative comparison of data from different ADCPs placed in maximally similar conditions to simultaneously measure the sea current parameters at one geographic point. The goals and the scheme of the experiment, methods for processing the measurement results, main results, and their interpretations and analysis, including practical results and conclusions, are described.  相似文献
