Buried Quaternary valleys in Denmark are complex structures filled with various deposits consisting primarily of glacio-lacustrine clay, till and meltwater sand, and gravel. The valleys are important geophysical targets, because they often contain significant volumes of groundwater used for public water supply. About 700 km of buried valley structures have been imaged in the western part of Denmark by the transient electromagnetic (TEM) method. The ability to map the valleys depends primarily on valley geometry, infill architecture and the resistivity of the fill sediments as well as the substratum. One-dimensional (1-D) inversion models of the TEM soundings have been used to construct contour maps of 20 m average resistivities and depth to a good conductor, which provide images for geological interpretation. Images of buried valley morphology, fill properties, infill architecture, such as cut-and-fill structures, valley distribution and valley generations, are characterized for case studies from Hornsyld, Holstebro and the Vonsild/Agtrup areas of Denmark. 相似文献

Yb with increasing liquid SiO2 for olivine, plagioclase, augite, hornblende, orthopyroxene, magnetite and ilmenite (Brophy in Contrib Mineral Petrol 2008, online first) have been combined with numerical models of hydrous partial melting, of mid-ocean ridge (MOR) cumulate gabbro
melting, and fractional crystallization of slightly hydrous mid-ocean ridge basalt (MORB) magma to assess a melting versus
fractionation origin for oceanic plagiogranite. For felsic magmas (>63 wt.% SiO2) the modeling predicts the following. MOR cumulate gabbro melting should yield constant or decreasing La and constant Yb
abundances with increasing liquid SiO2. The overall abundances should be similar to those in associated mafic magmas. MORB fractional crystallization should yield
steadily increasing La and Yb abundances with increasing SiO2 with overall abundances significantly higher than those in associated mafic magmas. Application to natural occurrences of
oceanic plagiogranite indicate that both MOR cumulate gabbro melting and MORB fractionation are responsible. Application of
the model results to Icelandic rhyolites strongly support a fractional crystallization rather than a crustal melting origin. 相似文献

Anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS) is investigated in samples of Peralimala (PM) pluton (ca. 550 Ma) and adjacent
gneiss, gabbro, mylonite and amphibolite from the Moyar Shear Zone (MSZ), Southern Granulite Terrane (SGT) with an aim to
decipher the time-relationship between fabric development in the pluton and regional tectonics. Magnetic foliation recorded
in the PM pluton is sub-parallel to the WNW-ESE striking MSZ. Magnetic foliation and lineation trajectories are sigmoidal
and curve into the shear zone. A dextral sense of shear is deciphered from the trajectories, which is similar to that reported
within the MSZ in some earlier studies. It is inferred that the PM pluton has developed post-emplacement deformation-fabric
related to reactivation of the MSZ during Pan-African age. Based on the data and existing information about regional tectonics
of the area, the possibility of the (a) PM pluton being a Deformed Alkali Rock and Carbonatite (DARC) and (b) MSZ marking

The problem of disc cutter wear is inevitable when shield or TBM excavating hard rock for a long distance, thus, the study of disc cutter wear model has an important project value on predicting its service life and replacement opportunity. It is put forward by analyzing disc cutter wear mechanism that the main wear form is abrasive wear, which is based on plastic removal mechanism. Then, disc cutter wear rate and linear wear rate prediction models are obtained by approximate calculation and mathematical deduction, which are based on Rabinowicz equation and CSM model. A national groundwater-monitoring network consisting of 320 stations has been operated by the Ministry of Construction and Transportation and the Korea Water Resources Corporation since 1995. The network was established as a result of the Groundwater Act of Korea, and a supplementary local groundwater monitoring network containing 10,000 stations will be established throughout the country by the year 2011. A method of allocating stations and organizing the local monitoring network has been developed, based on the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), using pairwise comparison. Several evaluation criteria were selected for determining the required number of the monitoring stations at specific local districts. Weights of the selected criteria were assigned by the pairwise comparison, reflecting hydrogeological conditions and supported by pertinent questions to 93 groundwater experts. To evaluate appropriateness of this method, an example city, Jeonju, was selected where groundwater levels were monitored; seven stations were determined as to be required for the supplementary groundwater-monitoring network. The study demonstrated the usefulness of the AHP. The concepts of the development and the structure of the AHP model can be applied to site or well selections within a particular district. 相似文献

Deepwater sediments are prone to loss circulation in drilling due to a low overburden gradient. How to predict the magnitude of leak-off pressure more accurately is an important issue in the protection of drilling safety and the reduction of drilling cost in deep water. Starting from the mechanical properties of a shallow formation and based on the basic theory of rock-soil mechanics, the stress distribution around a borehole was analyzed. It was found that the rock or soil on a borehole is in the plastic yield state before the effective tensile stress is generated, and the effective tangential and vertical stresses increase as the drilling fluid density increases; thus, tensile failure will not occur on the borehole wall. Based on the results of stress calculation, two mechanisms and leak-off pressure prediction models for shallow sediments in deepwater drilling were put forward, and the calculated values of these models were compared with the measured value of shallow leak-off pressure in actual drilling. The results show that the MHPS (minimum horizontal principle stress) model and the FIF (fracturing in formation) model can predict the lower and upper limits of leak-off pressure. The PLC (permeable lost circulation) model can comprehensively analyze the factors influencing permeable leakage and provide a theoretical basis for leak-off prevention and plugging in deepwater drilling. 相似文献

Hervey Bay, a large coastal embayment situated off the central eastern coast of Australia, is a shallow tidal area (average
depth = 15 m), close to the continental shelf. It shows features of an inverse estuary, due to the high evaporation rate (approx.
2 m/year), low precipitation (less than 1 m/year) and on average almost no freshwater input from rivers that drain into the
bay. The hydro- and thermodynamical structures of Hervey Bay and their variability are presented here for the first time,
using a combination of four-dimensional modelling and observations from field studies. The numerical studies are performed
with the Coupled Hydrodynamical Ecological Model for Regional Shelf Seas (COHERENS). Due to the high tidal range (>3.5 m),
the bay is considered as a vertically well-mixed system, and therefore, only horizontal fronts are likely. Recent field measurements,
but also the numerical simulations, indicate characteristic features of an inverse/hypersaline estuary with low salinity (35.5 psu)
in the open ocean and peak values (>39.0 psu) in the head water of the bay. The model further predicts a nearly persistent
mean salinity gradient of 0.5 psu across the bay (with higher salinities close to the shore). The investigation further shows
that air temperature, wind direction and tidal regime are mainly responsible for the stability of the inverse circulation
and the strength of the salinity gradient across the bay. Due to an ongoing drying trend, the occurrence of severe droughts
at the central east coast of Australia and, therefore, a reduction in freshwater supply, the salinity flux out of the bay
has increased, and the inverse circulation has also strengthened. 相似文献

Immediate consequences of nuclear explosions on the structure and physical state of a galactic disk are considered in this paper. Explosions in the nucleus of a Galaxy generate strong shock waves which, when propagating onward heat and condensing the gas, form thin dense ring-like gaseous features behind it. Such rings and dense gaseous complexes have been observed in the central region of the Galaxy. These features have been treated here as the remnants of galactic shocks generated by nuclear explosions. We have estimated the time elapsed since the corresponding explosion, the energy released by explosion and the initial temperature and the velocity of the shock wave thus generated. The cooling of the gas heated by strong shocks has also been considered. The time taken by shock-heated gas to cool to its original temperature has been estimated to be of the order of 105 to 106 yr, according to the initial shock temperature which is about 9×106 K or 6.4×107 K. The rate of emission of energy and the total amount of energy dissipated away in the form of radiation in the cooling process, have been calculated for different values of initial shocktemperatures and also for different field intensities. The high-energy radiation emitted in the cooling process is suggested here as a source for the heating of dust grains, which ultimately are radiated in the infrared spectrum. Thus, a part of the infrared radiation, as measured by many authors, in the central region of the Galaxy, may originate ultimately from the cooling of the shock-heated gas there. 相似文献
