A combination of high resolution cathodoluminescence-spectroscopy (HRS-CL=high resolution spectroscopy of cathodoluminescence emission) with spatial resolving trace element analyses (PIXE=proton induced X-ray emission) is used to establish a method for the quantitative determination of the Mn-content of diagenetic and hydrothermal dolomites using the measurements of peak areas of Mn-activated CL emission bands. This method takes into account the overlap of the CL broad bands of Mn2+ in the Mg- and the Ca-lattice-position of dolomite. There is a linear correlation between the peak areas and Mn concentration up to approx. 1000–1500 ppm. Thus, CL spectroscopy allows a determination of Mn concentrations below the abilities of PIXE (10–15 ppm) to less than 1 ppm by extrapolation of this linear relation.

Up to an Fe-content of approx. 2000 ppm, no quenching effect of Fe on this linear relationship occurs. However, Fe-contents above 2000 ppm result in a decrease of Mn-induced luminescence. Even at Fe-concentration >25,000 ppm spectroscopy reveals that Mn-activated CL of dolomite is not entirely extinguished.  相似文献

Background  

So far, the cumulative installed capacity of wind power projects in India is far below their gross potential (≤ 15%) despite very high level of policy support, tax benefits, long term financing schemes etc., for more than 10 years etc. One of the major barriers is the high costs of investments in these systems. The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the Kyoto Protocol provides industrialized countries with an incentive to invest in emission reduction projects in developing countries to achieve a reduction in CO2 emissions at lowest cost that also promotes sustainable development in the host country. Wind power projects could be of interest under the CDM because they directly displace greenhouse gas emissions while contributing to sustainable rural development, if developed correctly.  相似文献

Absorbing/sponge layers used as boundary conditions for ocean/marine models are examined in the context of the shallow water equations with the aim to minimize the reflection of outgoing waves at the boundary of the computational domain. The optimization of the absorption coefficient is not an issue in continuous models, for the reflection coefficient of outgoing waves can then be made as small as we please by increasing the absorption coefficient. The optimization of the parameters of absorbing layers is therefore a purely discrete problem. A balance must be found between the efficient damping of outgoing waves and the limited spatial resolution with which the resulting spatial gradients must be described. Using a one-dimensional model as a test case, the performances of various spatial distributions of the absorption coefficient are compared. Two shifted hyperbolic distributions of the absorption coefficient are derived from theoretical considerations for a pure propagative and a pure advective problems. These distribution show good performances. Their free parameter has a well-defined interpretation and can therefore be determined on a physical basis. The properties of the two shifted hyperbolas are illustrated using the classical two-dimensional problems of the collapse of a Gaussian-shaped mound of water and of its advection by a mean current. The good behavior of the resulting boundary scheme remains when a full non-linear dynamics is taken into account.  相似文献

Using mean-field models with a dynamical quenching formalism, we show that in finite domains magnetic helicity fluxes associated with small-scale magnetic fields are able to alleviate catastrophic quenching. We consider fluxes that result from advection by a mean flow, the turbulent mixing down the gradient of mean small-scale magnetic helicity density or the explicit removal which may be associated with the effects of coronal mass ejections in the Sun. In the absence of shear, all the small-scale magnetic helicity fluxes are found to be equally strong for both large- and small-scale fields. In the presence of shear, there is also an additional magnetic helicity flux associated with the mean field, but this flux does not alleviate catastrophic quenching. Outside the dynamo-active region, there are neither sources nor sinks of magnetic helicity, so in a steady state this flux must be constant. It is shown that unphysical behaviour emerges if the small-scale magnetic helicity flux is forced to vanish within the computational domain.  相似文献

The radial structure of a thin accretion disc is calculated in the presence of a central dipole magnetic field aligned with the rotation axis. The problem is treated using a modified expression for the turbulent magnetic diffusion, which allows the angular momentum equation to be integrated analytically. The governing algebraic equations are solved iteratively between 1 and 104 stellar radii. An analytic approximation is provided that is valid near the disruption radius at about 100 stellar radii. At that point, which is approximately 60 per cent of the Alfvén radius and typically about 30 per cent of the corotation radius, the disc becomes viscously unstable. This instability results from the fact that both radiation pressure and opacity caused by electron scattering become important. This in turn is a consequence of the magnetic field which leads to an enhanced temperature in the inner parts. This is because the magnetic field gives rise to a strongly enhanced vertically integrated viscosity, so that the viscous torque can balance the magnetic torque.  相似文献

Previously unrecognized pulses of rhyolite volcanism occurred in the Salton Trough between 420 ± 8 ka and 479 ± 38 ka (2σ), based on high-spatial resolution U–Pb zircon geochronology. Presently, these rhyolite lavas, tuffs and shallow subvolcanic sills are buried to depths between ~ 1.6 and 2.7 km at ambient temperatures between 200 and 300 °C, and are overprinted by propylitic to potassic hydrothermal alteration mineral assemblages consisting of finely intergrown quartz, K-feldspar, chlorite, epidote, and minor pyrite. Alteration resistant geochemical indicators (whole-rock Nd-isotopes, zircon oxygen-isotopes) reveal that these rhyolites are derived from remelting of MORB-type crust that was chilled and hydrothermally altered by deep-circulating hydrothermal waters. U–Pb zircon dating confirms the presence of Bishop Tuff in well State 2-14 at ~ 1.7 km depth, approximately 5 km NE of the geothermal wells that penetrated the buried rhyolites. These results indicate accelerated subsidence towards the center of the Salton Trough, increasing from 2.2 mm/a to 3.8 mm/a. Based on these results, the present-day Salton Sea geothermal field is identified as a focus zone of episodic rhyolitic volcanism, intense heat flow and metamorphism that predates present-day geothermal activity and Holocene volcanism by at least ~ 400 ka.  相似文献
