Cosmic radiation is an important problem for human interplanetary missions. The “Radiation Exposure and Mission Strategies for Interplanetary Manned Missions–REMSIM” study is summarised here. They are related to current strategies and countermeasures to ensure the protection of astronauts from radiation during interplanetary missions, with specific reference to: radiation environment and its variability; radiation effects on the crew; transfer trajectories and associated fluences; vehicle and surface habitat concepts; passive and active shielding concepts; space weather monitoring and warning systems.  相似文献

I describe a method for quickly and accurately determining the plate parallelism in a tunable Fabry-Pérot interferometer. The method takes advantage of the fact that our Fabry-Pérot is installed in a spectropolarimeter: we measure profiles of solar or telluric absorption lines in three differently polarized telescope subapertures and use the residual polarization profiles to determine the plate parallelism error. An example of the error as a function of time during the observing day is also shown; it changes in a consistent way with telescope hour angle but the drift is enough to require frequent adjustment.  相似文献

An important aspect of the radio emission from galaxy clusters is represented by the diffuse radio sources associated with the intracluster medium: radio halos, relics and mini-halos. The radio halos and relics are indicators of cluster mergers, whereas mini-halos are detected at the center of cooling core clusters. SKA will dramatically improve the knowledge of these sources, thanks to the detection of new objects, and to detailed studies of their spectra and polarized emission. SKA will also provide the opportunity to investigate the presence of halos produced by radiation scattered by a powerful radio galaxy at the cluster centers.  相似文献

We present a bi-orthogonal decomposition of the temporal and latitudinal distribution of solar magnetic fields from synoptic magnetograms. Results are compared with a similar decomposition of the distribution of sunspots since 1874. We show that the butterfly diagrams can be interpreted as the result of approximately constant amplitudes and phases of two oscillations with periods close to 22 years. A clear periodicity of 7 years can also be identified in the most energetic modes of both spatio-temporal series. These results can be used to obtain relevant information concerning the physics of the solar dynamo.  相似文献

In this communication we present an analytical model for the restricted three-body problem, in the case where the perturber is in a parabolic orbit with respect to the central mass. The equations of motion are derived explicitly using the so-called Global Expansion of the disturbing function, and are valid for any eccentricity of the massless body, as well as in the case where both secondary masses have crossing orbits. Integrating the equations of motion over the complete passage of the perturber through the system, we are then able to construct a first-order algebraic mapping for the change in semimajor axis, eccentricity and inclination of the perturbed body.Comparisons with numerical solutions of the exact equations show that the map yields precise results, as long as the minimum distance between both bodies is not too small. Finally, we discuss several possible applications of this model, including the evolution of asteroidal satellites due to background bodies, and simulations of passing stars on extra-solar planets.  相似文献
