Miocene aged calc-alkaline mafic host stocks (monzogabbro) and felsic microgranular enclaves (monzosyenite) around the Bafra (Samsun) area within Tertiary volcanic and sedimentary units of the Eastern Pontides, Northeast Turkey are described for the first time in this paper. The felsic enclaves are medium to fine grained, and occur in various shapes such as, elongated, spherical to ellipsoidal, flame and/or rounded. Most enclaves show sharp and gradational contacts with the host monzogabbro, and also show distinct chilled margins in the small enclaves, indicating rapid cooling. In the host rocks, disequilibrium textures indicating mingling or mixing of coeval mafic and felsic magmas are common, such as, poikilitic and antirapakivi textures in feldspar phenocrysts, sieve textured-patchy-rounded and corroded plagioclases, clinopyroxene megacrysts mantled by bladed biotites, clinopyroxene rimmed by green hornblendes, dissolution in clinopyroxene, bladed biotite, and acicular apatite. The petrographical and geochemical contrasts between the felsic enclaves and host monzogabbros may partly be due to a consequence of extended interaction between coeval felsic and mafic magmas by mixing/mingling and diffusion. Whole-rock and Sr-Nd isotopic data suggests that the mafic host rocks and felsic enclaves are products of modified mantle-derived magmas. Moreover, the felsic magma was at near liquidus conditions when injected into the mafic host magma, and that the mafic intrusion reflects a hybrid product formed due to the mingling and partial (incomplete) mixing of these two magmas.  相似文献

Seismic profiling, bathymetric and physical oceanographic data collected from the Çanakkale Strait revealed that the morphological evolution of the strait has been controlled by tectonic activity, and sediment erosion and deposition. Sediments in the strait have been sourced mostly by rivers draining the Biga Peninsula during lowstand periods. In highstand periods, by contrast, deposits in the strait were reworked by currents. The seafloor morphology of the Çanakkale Strait is also controlled by a sequence of factors ranging from tectonics to current erosion and deposition. Channel deposits overlying the basement are being eroded at the narrower, meandering central section of the strait (the Nara Passage) due to high current velocities. The eroded sediments are deposited in the relatively linear and wider, northern and southern sectors of the strait exposed to low current velocities. As a result, the high-energy areas are more deeply incised due to the erosion, whereas deposition elevates the seafloor in the areas exposed to lower current energy. Three strike-slip faults, which possibly relate to the activity of the North Anatolian Fault Zone, are responsible for the irregular shape of the strait and this, in turn, controls the current velocity along the strait. The high-energy conditions probably commenced with the latest invasion of Mediterranean waters some 12 ka b.p., and have continued as a two-layered current system to the present day.  相似文献

Noise and an abnormal distributed-image histogram is the main challenge of using SAR data. From this point of view, this study’s authors motivated the non-use of user-defined input parameters. To achieve this purpose, a fuzzy approach was proposed to extract shoreline from SENTINEL-1A data. The parameters in the processing of the SENTINEL-1A image were generated automatically with LIDAR-intensity-derived object-based segmentation results. The LIDAR-intensity image was segmented with the Mean-shift method. The corresponding result was used to estimate the input parameters for fuzzy clustering of the SENTINEL-1A image. Fuzzy segmentation was proposed, due to the expected large number of values regarding water and land classes except for the pixels along the shoreline. The memberships for land and water classes were separately computed. In the proposed approach, the results from LIDAR and SENTINEL-1A dataset are promising, with differences below 1 pixel (10?m) by evaluation with the used reference vector data.  相似文献

Agricultural soils have been analyzed to elucidate whether the trace metal distribution changes in relation to agricultural activities and to predict environmental risk. In addition to the extractability of Cu, Mn, Ni, Pb, and Zn in soils was compared by single extraction (hydrochloric acid (HCl), ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA), calcium chloride (CaCl2), water (H2O)), and sequential extraction procedures. The modified Community Bureau of Reference (BCR) sequential extraction procedure (three‐step) used to extraction of metals in soil samples. The extraction capacity of the analyzed metals was found by using single extraction procedures in the order: HCl > EDTA > DTPA > CaCl2 > H2O. A single correlation analysis was used to investigate the relationship between extractable metal concentrations in soil solutions and metal accumulation in wheat grains. Simple correlation analyses indicated that the extractable Pb and Ni of soils by HCl, EDTA, and DTPA single extraction procedures were significantly correlated with the metal contents of wheat grains. For CaCl2, H2O, and BCR extraction procedures there was a relatively poor correlation between the extractable Cu, Mn, Ni, Pb, and Zn of soils and metal contents of wheat grains.  相似文献

The Emet basin is one of the Neogene basins in western Turkey containing significant amounts of borate minerals, mainly colemanite. The petrologic study of core samples from two exploratory wells in the Do?anlar sector, under optic and electron microscopy, reveals a complex mineral association in which probertite, glauberite, and halite constitute the major primary phases (without mineral precursors) precipitated in a saline lake placed in a volcano-sedimentary context. Other sulfates (anhydrite, gypsum, thenardite, celestite and kalistrontite), borates (colemanite, ulexite, hydroboracite, tunellite, kaliborite and aristarainite), and sulfides (arsenopyrite, realgar and orpiment) are attributed to early diagenesis. So far, the Do?anlar deposit is the most important deposit of probertite known up to now.Chemical changes in the groundwater inflow led to the precipitation of Ca-bearing borates (colemanite) in the tuff-flat environment surrounding the lake, while Na–Ca sulfates and borates (glauberite and probertite) precipitated in the center of the lake. Fluid inclusion compositions in halite indicate that the advanced brines correspond to the Na-K-Cl-SO4 type. During restricted stages of the saline lake, the residual brines seeped through the tuff-flat sediments, leading to transformations of previous precipitates that resulted in the formation of K-bearing minerals. The abundance of coccoid-like biogenic dolomite, colloidal arsenopyrite and the isotopic composition of sulfates are indicative of bacterial sulfate reduction. In contrast, arsenic sulfides are attributed to acidophilic micro-organisms in oxidizing conditions. Fluctuations of redox conditions in both free and interstitial brines control the biological influence in some diagenetic transformations.  相似文献

Rainfall over Turkey portrays highly variable character both spatially and temporally. The aim of this study is to redefine main rainfall clusters of Turkey by using k-means methodology and investigate spatial shifts in the redefined rainfall clusters in subsequent periods with respect to North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) patterns. Initially, monthly rainfall totals are subjected to k-means clustering by taking into consideration 148 stations covering the 1977?C2006 period. Considering the maximum silhouette value and lowest negative silhouette number, six rainfall clusters are determined as optimum classifications for this climate period. The results indicate that Aegean?CMarmara and Eastern Anatolia?CCentral Anatolia geographic regions are characterized as single rainfall cluster contrary to the conventional geographical regions. The Mediterranean region is characterized with two separate sub-regions indicating highly variable rainfall distribution characters over the region. The study further adapts a similar classification for 10-year sub-periods to determine spatial shifts of the redefined rainfall clusters for the last 30?years. From one decade to another, temporally drier and wetter clusters are observed with underlying shifting causes in relation to NAO patterns. Parallel to other studies in the literature, NAO is found to be partially useful in explaining the temporally dry trends while less useful in justifying wet periods. On the other hand, coefficient of variation (COV) is introduced in order to explain the temporal shifts in the clusters. Strong relations are obtained between the regions with the higher COV numbers and highest cluster shifts, while smaller COV numbers are associated with the most stable clusters.  相似文献

The North Anatolian Fault is known as one of the most active and destructive fault zones which produced many earthquakes with high magnitudes both in historical and instrumental periods. Along this fault zone, the morphology and the lithological features are prone to landslides. Kuzulu landslide, which is located near the North Anatolian Fault Zone, was triggered by snow melting without any precursor, occurred on March 17, 2005. The landslide resulted in 15 deaths and the destruction of about 30 houses at Kuzulu village. There is still a great danger of further landslides in the region. Therefore, it is vitally important to present its environmental impacts and prepare a landslide susceptibility map of the region. In this study, we used likelihood-frequency ratio model and analytical hierarchy process (AHP) to produce landslide susceptibility maps. For this purpose, a detailed landslide inventory map was prepared and the factors chosen that influence landslide occurrence were: lithology, slope gradient, slope aspect, topographical elevation, distance to stream, distance to roads, distance to faults, drainage density and fault density. The ArcGIS package was used to evaluate and analyze all the collected data. At the end of the susceptibility assessment, the area was divided into five susceptibility regions, such as very low, low, moderate, high and very high. The results of the analyses were then verified using the landslide location data and compared with the probability model. For this purpose, an area under curvature (AUC) and the seed cell area index assessments were applied. An AUC value for the likelihood-frequency ratio-based model 0.78 was obtained, whereas the AUC value for the AHP-based model was 0.64. The landslide susceptibility map will help decision makers in site selection and the site-planning process. The map may also be accepted as a basis for landslide risk-management studies to be applied in the study area.  相似文献

New geochemical and isotopic data for post-collisional Early Eocene and Late Miocene adakitic rocks from the eastern part of the Sakarya Zone, Turkey, indicate that slab and lower crustal melting, respectively, played key roles in the petrogenesis of these rocks. The Early Eocene Yoncal?k dacite (54.4 Ma) exhibits high Sr/Y and La/Yb ratios, low Y and HREE concentrations, moderate Mg# (44–65), and relatively high εNd and low ISr values, similar to adakites formed by slab melting associated with subduction. Geochemical composition of the Yoncal?k dacite cannot be explained by simple crystal fractionation and/or crustal contamination of andesitic parent magma, but is consistent with the participation of different proportions of melts derived from subducted basalt and sediments. Sr/Y correlates horizontally with Rb/Y, and Pb/Nd correlates vertically with Nd isotopic composition, indicating that Sr and Pb budgets are strongly controlled by melt addition from the subducting slab, whereas positive correlations between Th/Nd and Pb/Nd, and Rb/Y and Nb/Y point to some contribution of sediment melt. In addition to low concentrations of heavy rare earth elements (~2–3 times chondrite), a systematic decrease in their concentrations and Nb/Ta ratios with increasing SiO2 contents suggests that slab partial melting occurred in the garnet stability field and that these elements were mobilized by fluid flux. These geochemical and isotopic signatures are best explained by slab breakoff and fusion shortly after the initiation of collision. Although the Late Micone Tavda?? rhyolite (8.75 Ma) has some geochemical features identical to adakites, such as high Sr/Y and La/Yb ratios, low Y and HREE concentrations, other requirements, such as sodic andesite and/or dacite with relatively high MgO and Mg# (>50), relatively high Ni and Cr, low K2O/Na2O (<0.4), high Sr (>400 ppm), for slab-derived adakites are not provided. It is sodic in composition and shows no traces of fractionation from dacitic parent magma. Low Nd and high Sr isotope ratios suggest derivation by partial fusion of calc-alkaline, juvenile crust with high Sr/Y and La/Yb ratios.  相似文献

We present new, whole-rock major and trace element chemistry, including rare earth elements (REE), platinum-group elements (PGE), and Re–Os isotope data from the upper mantle peridotites of a Cretaceous Neo-Tethyan ophiolite in the Mu?la area in SW Turkey. We also report extensive mineral chemistry data for these peridotites in order to better constrain their petrogenesis and tectonic environment of formation. The Mu?la peridotites consist mainly of cpx-harzburgite, depleted harzburgite, and dunite. Cpx-harzburgites are characterized by their higher average CaO (2.27 wt.%), Al2O3 (2.07 wt.%), REE (53 ppb), and 187Os/188Os(i) ratios varying between 0.12497 and 0.12858. They contain Al-rich pyroxene with lower Cr content of coexisting spinel (Cr# = 13–22). In contrast, the depleted harzburgites and dunites are characterized by their lower average CaO (0.58 wt.%), Al2O3 (0.42 wt.%), and REE (1.24 ppb) values. Their clinopyroxenes are Al-poor and coexist with high-Cr spinel (Cr# = 33–83). The 187Os/188Os(i) ratios are in the range of 0.12078–0.12588 and are more unradiogenic compared to those of the cpx-harzburgites.Mineral chemistry and whole rock trace and PGE data indicate that formation of the Mu?la peridotites cannot be explained by a single stage melting event; at least two-stages of melting and refertilization processes are needed to explain their geochemical characteristics. Trace element compositions of the cpx-harzburgites can be modeled by up to ~ 10–16% closed-system dynamic melting of a primitive mantle source, whereas those of the depleted harzburgites and dunites can be reproduced by ~ 10–16% open-system melting of an already depleted (~ 16%) mantle. These models indicate that the cpx-harzburgites are the products of first-stage melting and low-degrees of melt–rock interaction that occurred in a mid-ocean ridge (MOR) environment. However, the depleted harzburgites and dunites are the product of second-stage melting and related refertilization which took place in a supra subduction zone (SSZ) environment. The Re–Os isotope systematics of the Mu?la peridotites gives model age clusters of ~ 250 Ma, ~ 400 Ma and ~ 750 Ma that may record major tectonic events associated with the geodynamic evolution of the Neo-Tethyan, Rheic, and Proto-Tethyan oceans, respectively. Furthermore, > 1000 Ma model ages can be interpreted as a result of an ancient melting event before the Proto-Tethys evolution.  相似文献
