Each simulation algorithm, including Truncated Gaussian Simulation, Sequential Indicator Simulation and Indicator Kriging is characterized by different operating modes, which variably influence the facies proportion, distribution and association of digital outcrop models, as shown in clastic sediments. A detailed study of carbonate heterogeneity is then crucial to understanding these differences and providing rules for carbonate modelling. Through a continuous exposure of Bajocian carbonate strata, a study window (320 m long, 190 m wide and 30 m thick) was investigated and metre‐scale lithofacies heterogeneity was captured and modelled using closely‐spaced sections. Ten lithofacies, deposited in a shallow‐water carbonate‐dominated ramp, were recognized and their dimensions and associations were documented. Field data, including height sections, were georeferenced and input into the model. Four models were built in the present study. Model A used all sections and Truncated Gaussian Simulation during the stochastic simulation. For the three other models, Model B was generated using Truncated Gaussian Simulation as for Model A, Model C was generated using Sequential Indicator Simulation and Model D was generated using Indicator Kriging. These three additional models were built by removing two out of eight sections from data input. The removal of sections allows direct insights on geological uncertainties at inter‐well spacings by comparing modelled and described sections. Other quantitative and qualitative comparisons were carried out between models to understand the advantages/disadvantages of each algorithm. Model A is used as the base case. Indicator Kriging (Model D) simplifies the facies distribution by assigning continuous geological bodies of the most abundant lithofacies to each zone. Sequential Indicator Simulation (Model C) is confident to conserve facies proportion when geological heterogeneity is complex. The use of trend with Truncated Gaussian Simulation is a powerful tool for modelling well‐defined spatial facies relationships. However, in shallow‐water carbonate, facies can coexist and their association can change through time and space. The present study shows that the scale of modelling (depositional environment or lithofacies) involves specific simulation constraints on shallow‐water carbonate modelling methods.  相似文献

Investigation of the palaeoclimatic conditions associated with Upper Jurassic strata in Portugal and comparison with published palaeoclimate reconstructions of the Upper Jurassic Morrison Formation in western North America provide important insights into the conditions that allowed two of the richest terrestrial faunas of this period to flourish. Geochemical analyses and observations of palaeosol morphology in the informally named Upper Jurassic Lourinhã formation of western Portugal indicate warm and wet palaeoclimatic conditions with strongly seasonal precipitation patterns. Palaeosol profiles are dominated by carbonate accumulations and abundant shrink‐swell (vertic) features that are both indicative of seasonal variation in moisture availability. The δ18OSMOW and δDSMOW values of phyllosilicates sampled from palaeosol profiles range from +22·4‰ to +22·7‰ and ?53·0‰ to ?37·3‰, respectively. These isotope values correspond to temperatures of formation between 32°C and 39°C ± 3°, with an average of 36°C, which suggest surface temperatures between 27°C and 34°C (average 31°C). On average, these surface temperature estimates are 1°C higher than the highest summer temperatures modelled for Late Jurassic Iberia using general circulation models. Elemental analysis of matrix material from palaeosol B‐horizons provides proxy (chemical index of alteration minus potassium) estimates of mean annual precipitation ranging from 766 to 1394 mm/year, with an average of approximately 1100 mm/year. Palaeoclimatic conditions during deposition of the Lourinhã formation are broadly similar to those inferred for the Morrison Formation, except somewhat wetter. Seasonal variation in moisture availability does not seem to have negatively impacted the ability of these environments to support rich and relatively abundant faunas. The similar climate between these two Late Jurassic terrestrial ecosystems is probably one of the factors which explains the similarity of their vertebrate faunas.  相似文献

Tsunamis can represent a significant risk to the population and cause huge economic damage in many costal regions. In order to be able to identify risk hot spots and implement targeted risk reduction measures, decision makers need to have a clear picture of the risk situation in their countries or regions. This work reviews existing approaches for tsunami risk assessment and recommends a five-step process for assessing tsunami risk. As a case study, a qualitative risk assessment for a worst-case tsunami scenario was carried out to understand the tsunami risk to the population in Cádiz. Moreover, a sensitivity analysis of the tsunami hazard input parameters was performed as a strong influence of the variability of the input parameters on the resultant tsunami hazard and risk zonation maps was observed. The study shows that regardless of the assumptions made a non-negligible tsunami risk to Cádiz exists.  相似文献

Abstract

In the southern part of the Great Hungarian Plain there are two different groundwater flow systems located in the study area. Between these two systems there is a narrow groundwater divide where groundwater flow cannot be detected. In the western part, groundwater of greater hardness moves from the northwest, west and southwest. In the eastern part, groundwater flow is from southeast to northwest. The directions of groundwater flow have been established on the basis of dissolved mono- and di-valent cation concentrations. The major direction of groundwater flow detected by a statistical evaluation of water chemical data agrees with previous geological investigations.  相似文献

The GOCE satellite observes gravity gradients with unprecedented accuracy and resolution. The GOCE observations are reliable within a well-defined measurement bandwidth. In this study, different finite and infinite impulse response filters have been designed to obtain the demanded pass. Exhaustive time and frequency domain investigations prove that the proposed infinite impulse response filter can be a real competitor of the existing solution of the filtering problem.  相似文献

The ability of Trametes versicolor and Pleurotus ostreatus to grow on agroindustrial wastes, such as orange peels, and to degrade model polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in solid‐state fermentation (SSF) was evaluated. Best results in laccase production were obtained with T. versicolor cultures (3000 U L?1), however, P. ostreatus (2700 U L?1) showed higher ability to degrade the tested PAHs phenanthrene (PHE) and pyrene (PYR). Moreover, orange peels can be used as biofertilizer and the oxidative ability of the spent fungus and substrate obtained in SSF can be used in the remediation of polluted soil. The results obtained confirm this hypothesis. Thus, the decontamination achieved in soils polluted with PYR was around 43% (after 30 days) by addition of spent fungus and substrate from SSF.  相似文献

We show that the gaining component in interacting binaries can rotate faster than its orbital revolution as a consequence of the accretion process. We derive an approximative analytical formula for the Roche lobe radius of asynchronously rotating accretors. We present the case of the semi-detached interacting binary TX UMa, for which we measured directly asynchronous rotation of its accretor. We suggest a method to detect indirectly a fast spinning of accretors in symbiotic binaries based on the the X-ray luminosity of the boundary layer. We demonstrate this possibility for the case of EG And.  相似文献

We present the results of a two-dimensional relativistic hydrodynamic simulation of collisions of dense shells of matter moving within a uniform jet. The non-thermal synchrotron radiation produced by the relativistic electrons injected at shocks is computed following their temporal and spatial evolution. We test different parameterizations of the shock acceleration process and compute the corresponding X-ray light curves. A time lag between hard and soft X-ray radiation is found. The collision has an efficiency of few times 10?3 in converting kinetic energy into radiation.  相似文献

The effort in photometry of near-Earth asteroids (NEAs) at Modra Observatory has been enhanced following a recent collaboration with Ondřejov Observatory. We present a part of our collaborative work on measuring rotation lightcurve data for 10 NEAs. We derived following synodic periods P and amplitudes of their composite lightcurves: (3553), 3.1944 h, 0.08 mag; (22753), 10.24 h, 0.11 mag; (31669), 5.807 h, 0.07–0.27 mag; (40267), 4.9568 h, 1.01–1.11 mag; (66146), 2.3774 h, 0.12–0.15 mag; (88188), 2.6906 h, 0.06 mag; (103067), 9.489 h, 0.49 mag; 2001 CB21, 3.302 h, 0.19 mag; 2004 LJ1, 2.7247 h, 0.17–0.59 mag; 2004 XO14, 8.417 h, 0.19–0.25 mag. While the derived periods are unique (the reliability code U=3) for most of the objects, those of (3553), (22753) and 2001 CB21 are somewhat less reliable (U=2). We checked all the U=3 data for deviations from strict periodicity, but found no significant attenuation that would indicate the presence of a satellite. Absolute magnitudes in Cousins R band (H R ) were derived for (3553), 16.05; (40267), 15.59; (88188), 16.04; 2004 XO14, 15.84; errors of the first three H R estimates are 0.20 mag, but that of 2004 XO14 is <0.10 mag.  相似文献

During the Late Tortonian, shallow‐water temperate carbonates were deposited in a small bay on a gentle ramp linked to a small island (Alhama de Granada area, Granada Basin, southern Spain). A submarine canyon (the ‘Alhama Submarine Canyon’) developed close to the shoreline, cross‐cutting the temperate‐carbonate ramp. The Alhama Submarine Canyon had an irregular profile and steep slopes (10° to 30°). It was excavated in two phases reflected by two major erosion surfaces, the lowermost of which was incised at least 50 m into the ramp. Wedge‐shaped and trough‐shaped, concave‐up beds of calcareous (terrigenous) deposits overlie these erosional surfaces and filled the canyon. A combination of processes connected to sea‐level changes is proposed to explain the evolution of the Alhama Submarine Canyon. During sea‐level fall, part of the carbonate ramp became exposed and a river valley was excavated. As sea‐level rose, river flows continued along the submerged, former river‐channel, eroding and deepening the valley and creating a submarine canyon. At this stage, only some of the transported conglomerates were deposited locally. As sea‐level continued to rise, the river mouth became detached from the canyon head; littoral sediments, transported by longshore and storm currents, were now captured inside the canyon, generating erosive flows that contributed to its excavation. Most of the canyon infilling took place later, during sea‐level highstand. Longshore‐transported well‐sorted calcarenites/fine‐grained calcirudites derived from longshore‐drift sandwaves poured into and fed the canyon from the south. Coarse‐grained, bioclastic calcirudites derived from a poorly sorted, bioclastic ‘factory facies’ cascaded into the canyon from the north during storms.  相似文献
