Using the Irkutsk Incoherent Scattering Radar, it is demonstrated that the high sensitivity of such radars, which are usually used for studies of the Earth’s ionosphere, also enables their use in a passive mode for observations of astronomical radio sources. Observations of solar flares accompanied by coronal mass ejections and of quasi-stationary radio sources on the Sun have been carried out. In addition, scintillations of several of the brightest discrete radio sources (Cygnus A, Cassiopeia A, and the Crab Nebula) have been studied over several months. These data can also be useful for studies of the ionosphere and interplanetary space.  相似文献

A systematic study of Pb isotope composition was carried out for Elbrus Volcano, one of the Europe’s largest volcanoes, using high-precision method of multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. The measurement error of Pb isotope ratios was estimated from the results of replicate analyses of international BCR-1 and AGV-1 standards as ±0.03% (±2SD). The study of a representative collection showed that dacites of all three phases of the Elbrus eruptive activity are characterized by relatively small-scale variations of Pb isotope composition: 206Pb/204Pb 18.621–18.670, 207Pb/204Pb 15.636–15.659, and 208Pb/204Pb 38.762–38.845. New Pb isotope geochemical characteristics in combination with existing Sr-Nd data indicate that the parental magmas of Elbrus are of mixed mantle-crust origin. They were formed by interaction of mantle-derived melts with continental crust of the Greater Caucasus during continental collision between the Eurasian, Arabian, Turkish, and Iranian plates.  相似文献

Forced imbibition was performed in reservoir sandstone by injecting water into a dry sample. The injection was monitored with X‐ray computed tomography and acoustic acquisition to simultaneously visualize the displacement of the fluid and quantify its presence by calculating saturation and P‐wave velocities. We observed a strong influence when changing the injection rates on the acoustic response. Upon decreasing the injection rate from 5 mL/h to 0.1 mL/h, P‐wave velocities decreased sharply: 100 m/s in 1 h. This behaviour is related to the partially saturated conditions of the sample (76% of saturation) before decreasing the injection rate. The air that is still trapped is free to move due to a decrease of pore pressure that is no longer forced by the higher injection rate. After 1 hour, P‐wave velocities started increasing with small changes in saturation. Stopping injection for 16 hrs decreased saturation by 8% and P‐wave velocities by 100 m/s. Restarting injection at 5 mL/h increased saturation to 76% while P‐wave velocities fluctuated considerably for 2 hrs until they stabilized at 2253 m/s. Through the computed tomography scans we observed a water front advancing through the sample and how its shape changed from a plane to a curve after decreasing the injection rate.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of supercritical CO2 (scCO2) injection on the elastic and anelastic properties of sandstone at seismic and ultrasonic frequencies. We present the results of the low‐frequency and ultrasonic experiments conducted on water‐saturated sandstone (Donnybrook, Western Australia) flooded with scCO2. The sandstone was cut in the direction perpendicular to a formation bedding plane and tested in a Hoek triaxial pressure cell. During the experiments with scCO2, the low‐frequency and ultrasonic systems and the pump dispensing scCO2 were held at a temperature of 42°C. The elastic parameters obtained for the sandstone with scCO2 at seismic (0.1 Hz–100 Hz) and ultrasonic (~0.5 MHz) frequencies are very close to those for the dry rock. The extensional attenuation was also measured at seismic frequencies for the dry, water‐saturated, and scCO2‐injected sandstones. The applicability of Gassmann's fluid substitution theory to obtained results was also tested during the experiments.  相似文献

Long-term variations in the parameters of the Earth’s upper atmosphere and geophysical activity have been studied based on the current spectra. The main sources of quasiperiodic oscillations in the atmosphere (including variations in the solar radiation, geomagnetic activity, and gravity) have been considered. It was shown that the most stable quasiharmonic variations are related to tidal gravitational oscillations and Rossby planetary waves with stable spectra. These oscillatory processes substantially contribute to the dynamics of the middle and upper atmosphere and manifest themselves in ionospheric parameters.  相似文献

The products of volcanic activity from the Kutaisi area and Guria (western Georgia) were studied in terms of isotope geochronology to determine the age of rocks and to confirm their attribution to Cenozoic formations. The results obtained show that the erupted rocks in the Kutaisi area were formed during the three pulses of Mesozoic volcanic activity: the Bajocian, Kimmeridgian-Tithonian, and Turonian-Santonian. It was shown that no displays of Late Cenozoic volcanism occurred in this region of the western Georgia. Because of this, its inclusion into the Central Georgian neovolcanic province, earlier supposed, seems to be improper. By the data of isotope geochronology, Guria is the only region of western Georgia where volcanic activity occurred in post-Paleogene period. Two pulses of young volcanism were revealed: of about 15.5 and 9–7.5 My. The former was related to the introduction of syenite intrusion, and the latter, to subaqueous exudation of subalkaline Neogene lavas. All the outcrops of Neogene rocks we found and dated in Guria fit within the well-pronounced sublatitudinal linear band which probably represents the occurrence in the Middle Miocene of a local zone of extension appearing under conditions of total compression during the collision of the Eurasian and Arabian lithospheric plates.
