Radio noise observations at frequencies of 0·700 Mc and 2·200 Mc were made at altitudes between 3000 and 11,000 km from a Blue Scout Jr. high-altitude rocket probe on 30 July 1963. A steady background flux of (7·5−3+6) × 10−19 W m−2)(c/s)−1 at 0·700 Mc and (1·8+1.0−0.5 × 10−19 W m−2 (c/s)−1 at 2·200 Mc was observed. Assuming a galactic origin of the observed fluxes at both frequencies, the averaged sky brightnesses are b(0·700 Mc) = (6−3+5) × 10−20 W m−2 (c/s)−1 sr−1b(2·200 Mc) = (1.4+1.0−0.5 × 10−20 W m−2 (c/s)−1 sr−1 The observed brightness at 2·200 Mc is in reasonable agreement with the results of other observers. The apparent brightness at 0·700 Mc is, however, greater than was expected from previous observations. An alternative source of the 0·700 Mc flux in the terrestrial exosphere, as well as characteristics of several noise bursts observed during the flight, is briefly discussed. 相似文献

We present an overview of the data and models collected for the Whole Heliosphere Interval, an international campaign to study the three-dimensional solar?Cheliospheric?Cplanetary connected system near solar minimum. The data and models correspond to solar Carrington Rotation 2068 (20 March??C?16 April 2008) extending from below the solar photosphere, through interplanetary space, and down to Earth??s mesosphere. Nearly 200 people participated in aspects of WHI studies, analyzing and interpreting data from nearly 100 instruments and models in order to elucidate the physics of fundamental heliophysical processes. The solar and inner heliospheric data showed structure consistent with the declining phase of the solar cycle. A closely spaced cluster of low-latitude active regions was responsible for an increased level of magnetic activity, while a highly warped current sheet dominated heliospheric structure. The geospace data revealed an unusually high level of activity, driven primarily by the periodic impingement of high-speed streams. The WHI studies traced the solar activity and structure into the heliosphere and geospace, and provided new insight into the nature of the interconnected heliophysical system near solar minimum. 相似文献

An analysis of periodic components of flux variability was carried out based on the long-term monitoring of the nuclei of active galaxies 3C454.3, 1633+382, and 3C120, performed in the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory from 1985 to 2008 at 22.2 and 36.8 GHz. Long-period components of the variability (12–14 yrs) were detected and interpreted in terms of the precessional motion of the central body in binary systems. Short-period components (1.5–3 yrs) related to the orbital periods for the motions of the central supermassive black holes were also detected. We concluded that the brightest active galaxies observed as nonstationary sources in a wide range of wavelengths are binary systems of supermassive black holes at the stage of evolution close to coalescence. For the supposed binary black-hole systems, the masses of the central objects and their companions, the orbital radii of the companions, and the coalescence times were determined. The ratios of the masses in the binary systems in all cases proved to be less than ten, pointing to a strong gravitational effect of the companion on the central black hole. The velocities of the central body motion proved to be high, approximately 1000 km/s. This fact should be accounted for in the calculations of the rate of accretion onto the central body. The orbital radii of the companions fall into a narrow range between 4 × 1016 cm and 6 × 1016 cm, demonstrating a strong dependence of the masses of the binary systems on the orbital sizes and the energy loss for the gravitational radiation. Within the orbit of the companion during its motion through the accretion disk, a high temperature of surrounding gas is achieved. The high density of the medium, 109–1010 cm?3, combined with the magnetic field and shock waves propagating in the accretion disk, develop the conditions for powerful energy release in the directed jets. 相似文献

We present a radiative transfer analysis of circumstellar dust shells around the Post-AGB stars HD 179821, HD 56126, HD 101584
and early R star HD 100764, using the code DUSTY. Parameters like mass-loss, shell inner radius, dust temperature, outflow
velocity etc., are derived for HD 179821and HD 56126 whose observed SED could be reproduced by our models.

The properties of OH megamaser galaxies in the radio continuum are discussed. Many radio sources in OH megamaser galaxies exhibit relatively flat (α ≥ −0.5) radio spectra between frequencies of 1.49 and 8.44 GHz along with high brightness temperatures (Tb ≥ 104 K). In these galaxies the line and radio continuum fluxes are not correlated. The continuum radio emission of OH megamasers is predominantly nonthermal and is associated either with an active nucleus or with compact star formation. The thermal component of the radio emission from these galaxies can be neglected. Greenhouse warming due to carbon dioxide atmospheres may be responsible for maintaining the early Earth's surface temperature above freezing and may even have allowed for liquid water on early Mars. However, the high levels of CO2 required for such warming should have also resulted in the formation of CO2 clouds. These clouds, depending on their particle size, could lead to either warming or cooling. The particle size in turn is determined by the nucleation and growth conditions. Here we present laboratory studies of the nucleation and growth of carbon dioxide on water ice under martian atmospheric conditions. We find that a critical saturation, S=1.34, is required for nucleation, corresponding to a contact parameter between solid water and solid carbon dioxide of m=0.95. We also find that after nucleation occurs, growth of CO2 is very rapid, and we report the growth rates at a number of supersaturations. Because growth would be expected to continue until the CO2 pressure is lowered to its vapor pressure, we expect particles larger than those being currently suggested for the present and past martian atmospheres. Using this information in a microphysical model described in a companion paper, we find that CO2 clouds are best described as “snow,” having a relatively small number of large particles. 相似文献

The data of three-times repeated magnetic survey of the section of Lunokhod-2 route 1.5 km long are analyzed. The linear size of the regions of magnetic field anomalies disclosed is 200–300 m. The results of magnetic survey near the tectonic break of Straight Rille and near the south rim of crater Le Monnier were used for estimation of rock magnetization in situ. It is shown that mare basalts in south-east region of crater Le Monnier have oblique magnetization (at the angle ç30° to horizon). The magnitude of magnetization is × 5 × 10–5 G cm g–1. The south-east slope of the crater Le Monnier is magnetized roughly vertically, the upper limit of magnetization of the rocks of the rim is ç 1 × 10–5 G cm3 g–1. The results of an analysis of 160 magnetic field variations recorded by Lunokhod-2 indicate that the horizontal components of variations have nearly linear polarization. The principal axes of hodographs stretch in the direction north-west-south-east. Such a polarization of variations may be due to an increase of the thickness of the upper isolated layer under Mare Serenitatis. 相似文献
