Over the last few decades, General Circulation Models (GCM) have been used to simulate the current martian climate. The calibration of these GCMs with the current seasonal cycle is a crucial step in understanding the climate history of Mars. One of the main climatic signals currently used to validate GCMs is the annual atmospheric pressure cycle. It is difficult to use changes in seasonal deposits on the surface of Mars to calibrate the GCMs given the spectral ambiguities between CO2 and H2O ice in the visible range. With the OMEGA imaging spectrometer covering the near infra-red range, it is now possible to monitor both types of ice at a spatial resolution of about 1 km. At global scale, we determine the change with time of the Seasonal South Polar Cap (SSPC) crocus line, defining the edge of CO2 deposits. This crocus line is not symmetric around the geographic South Pole. At local scale, we introduce the snowdrop distance, describing the local structure of the SSPC edge. Crocus line and snowdrop distance changes can now be used to calibrate GCMs. The albedo of the seasonal deposits is usually assumed to be a uniform and constant parameter of the GCMs. In this study, albedo is found to be the main parameter controlling the SSPC recession at both global and local scale. Using a defrost mass balance model (referred to as D-frost) that incorporates the effect of shadowing induced by topography, we show that the global SSPC asymmetry in the crocus line is controlled by albedo variations. At local scale, we show that the snowdrop distance is correlated with the albedo variability. Further GCM improvements should take into account these two results. We propose several possibilities for the origin of the asymmetric albedo control. The next step will be to identify and model the physical processes that create the albedo differences.  相似文献

Syn-orogenic detachments in accretionary wedges make the exhumation of high-pressure and low-temperature metamorphic rocks possible with little erosion. The velocity of exhumation within the subduction channel or the accretionary complex, and thus the shape of PT paths, depend upon the kinematic boundary conditions. A component of slab retreat tends to open the channel and facilitates the exhumation. We document the effect of slab retreat on the shape of PT paths using the example of the Phyllite–Quartzite Nappe that has been exhumed below the Cretan syn-orogenic detachment during the Miocene in Crete and the Peloponnese. Data show a clear tendency toward colder conditions at peak pressure and during exhumation where the intensity of slab retreat is larger. This spatial evolution of PT gradient is accompanied with an evolution from a partly coaxial regime below the Peloponnese section of the detachment toward a clearly non-coaxial regime in Crete.  相似文献

This review analyses the ostracod record in Holocene tsunami deposits, using an overview of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami impact on its recent populations and the associated tsunamigenic deposits, together with results from numerous investigations of other Holocene sequences. Different features such as the variability of the local assemblages, population density, species diversity, age population structure (e.g., percentages of adults and juvenile stages) or taphonomical signatures suggest that these microorganisms may be included amongst the most promising tracers of these high-energy events in marshes, lakes, lagoons or shallow marine areas.  相似文献

We consider a restricted three-body problem where the primaries are moving in an elliptic collision orbit and the infinitesimal mass moves in a three dimensional space. This paper is devoted to prove analytically the existence of several families of symmetric periodic solutions as continuation of Keplerian circular orbits. This paper investigates the load‐bearing capacity of a perfectly smooth retaining wall laterally supported at both ends assuming that the wall fails by the development of three plastic hinges. The study considers the case of a cohesionless elastic–perfectly plastic backfill with a Mohr–Coulomb yield criterion and an associative flow rule in drained conditions. A kinematically admissible soil–structure failure mechanism is proposed and compared with the conventional solutions and with results from a numerical finite element modelling. The study shows that the proposed solution and the numerical solution are in good agreement. These solutions are found to be much more favourable for the wall than the conventional solutions. —?Caracas 1967 earthquake caused heavy damage to multi-story buildings. In 1995, 184 microtremor measurement points were performed over the city. The measurement grid was more or less dense and covered the main part of the alluvial basin as well as surrounding rock basement. For each point, the horizontal record spectrum was divided by the vertical one (H/V ratio). Subsequently, the strongest value (Ao) of this ratio in a given frequency band was kept, as well as the frequency (Fo) where it occurred. Spatial interpolations of Ao and Fo were performed among all points of Palos Grandes district. A map was plotted representing a single surface where Ao is relief and Fo is represented by grey gradation. An alluvion thickness (H) map can be compared with this result. Damaged buildings are located on the same map. Fo decreases until 0.6?Hz when alluvion thickness (H) increases. Fo values fit with frequencies previously predicted from computation and with 1967 earthquake observations. Moreover, interpolation surfaces show that amplification (Ao) of H/V on microtremor is quite low above rock but is high on the south part of the basin. The maximum occurs over the non-urbanized zone. However the other area, where Ao is higher than 5, roughly corresponds to the location of the four collapsed buildings. Furthermore, the estimated natural frequency of these buildings was around Fo. Graphics showing H, Fo and Ao evolution through the basin were composed. Links between all these values are noticeable. Fo is claimed to be very similar to the resonance frequency of soil. As for Ao, it could be a fairly relevant sign of damage seriousness. Microtremor technique is an economic tool and it allows measurement grid as dense as desired. H/V ratio processing followed by interpolation of maximum values provides precise and useful information about expected site effect.  相似文献

The reaction chloritoid (ctd)=almandine (alm)+diaspore+H2O (CAD) has been reversed using Fe3+-free synthetic chloritoid and almandine, under fO2 conditions of the solid oxygen buffer Fe/FeO (CADWI), and using partially oxidized synthetic minerals under fO2 conditions of the solid oxygen buffer Ni/NiO (CADNNO). Experiments have been conducted between 550 and 700°C, 25 and 45 kbar. The equilibrium pressure and temperature conditions are strongly dependent on the fO2 conditions (CADNNO lies some-what 50°C higher than CADWI). This can be explained by a decrease in aH2O for experiments conducted on the Fe/FeO buffer, and a decrease in actd and aalm (through incorporation of ferric iron preferentially in chloritoid) for experiments conducted on the Ni/NiO buffer. The H2O activity has been calculated using the MRK equation of state, and the values obtained checked against the shift of the equilibrium diaspore=corundum+H2O bracketed on the Fe/FeO buffer and under unbuffered fO2 conditions. For fO2 buffered by the assemblage Fe/FeO, aH2O increases with pressure from about 0.85 at 600°C, 12 kbar to about 0.9 at 605°C, 25 kbar and 1 above 28 kbar. For fO2 buffered by the assemblage Ni/NiO, aH2O=1. The aH2O decrease from Ni/NiO to Fe/FeO is, however, too small to be entirely responsible for the temperature shift between CADNNO and CADWI. In consequence, the amount of ferric iron in almandine and chloritoid growing in the CADNNO experiments must be significant and change along the CADNNO, precluding calculation of the thermodynamic properties of chloritoid from this reaction. Our experimental data obtained on the Fe/FeO buffer are combined, using a thermodynamic analysis, with Ganguly's (1969) reversal of the reaction chloritoid=almandine+corundum +H2O (CAC) on the same oxygen buffer. Experimental brackets are mutually consistent and allow extraction of the thermodynamic parameters H o f,ctd and S octd. Our thermodynamic data are compared with others, generally calculated using Ganguly's bracketing of CACNNO. The agreement between the different data sets is relatively good at low pressure, but becomes rapidly very poor toward high pressure conditions. Using our thermodynamic data for chloritoid and KD=(Fe3+/Al)ctd/(Fe3+/Al)alm estimated from natural assemblages, we have calculated the composition of chloritoid and almandine growing from CADNNO and CACNNO. The Fe3+ content in chloritoid and almandine increases with pressure, from less than 0.038 per FeAl2SiO5(OH)2 formula unit at 10 kbar to at least 0.2 per formula unit above 30 kbar. This implies that chloritoid and almandine do contain Fe3+ in most natural assemblages. The reliability of our results compared to natural systems and thermodynamic data for Mg-chloritoid is tested by comparing the equilibrium conditions for the reaction chloritoid+quartz=garnet (gt)+kyanite+H2O (CQGK), calculated for intermediate Fe–Mg chloritoid and garnet compositions, from the system FASH and from the system MASH. For 0.65<(XFe)gt<0.8, CQKG calculated from FASH and MASH overlap for KD=(Mg/Fe)ctd/(Mg/Fe)gt=2. This is in good agreement with the KD values reported from chloritoid+garnet+quartz+kyanite natural assemblages.  相似文献

In Corsica, albitites and albite-granites are considered to be the latest products of an ophiolitic magma. Two albitites have been selected for a study of the morphology, typology and age of their zircons, applying for the first time the U-Pb method to Western Tethyan ophiolites. Both samples come from the Rospigliani series, possibly formed in a transform fault zone. The first one shows a cumulate texture, whereas the second has features indicative of more rapid cooling. Zircons have precipitated at the end of the fractional crystallization process after a strong enrichment in alkali and incompatible elements. In a typological diagram they plot at high temperature and high agpaicity indexes. These abundant large, euhedral to subhedral zircons, sometimes with fine zoning, may also contain inclusions of granitic composition which testifies to K fractionation in ophiolitic magmas. The U-Pb age of 161±3Myr is in the range of the ages obtained for Alpine and Apennines ophiolites. All these ophiolitic remnants belonging to the Liguro-Piedmont Basin may represent a portion of the Central Atlantic Ocean created during Middle and Upper Jurassic times.  相似文献

Tholeiitic basalts and sulfide deposits from the “Cyana” and “Alvin” diving programs (RITA project) on the East Pacific Rise were analyzed for Pb and Sr isotopes. The basalt data plot within the field defined previously by other East Pacific Rise basalts (206Pb/204Pb: 18.35–18.58;207Pb/204Pb: 15.48–15.53;208Pb/204Pb: 37.8–38.1;87Sr/86Sr: 0.7022–0.7025). Pb, U and Sr contents (~0.5, ~0.05 and ~110 ppm, respectively) and μ values (~6) are typical of MORB, whereas Th/U ratios (~3.5) are significantly higher.The Pb isotopic ratios of the sulfide samples are very homogeneous (206Pb/204Pb~18.47207Pb/204Pb~15.49208Pb/204Pb~37.90), and plot in the middle of the basalt field. This indicates that (1) the sulfide Pb was derived from the basaltic crust without any significant contribution from either seawater or hemipelagic sediments, and (2) the solutions from which the sulfides were deposited had uniform Pb isotopic composition. The Pb contents of three sulfide samples is relatively high (170–1310 ppm).The Sr contents of five sulfide samples are widely scattered from 12 to 210 ppm, with87Sr/86Sr ratios intermediate between basaltic and seawater values (0.70554±0.00005 to0.70795±0.00011). Leaching experiments show that both basalt-derived Sr and seawater Sr were present in the solutions which deposited the sulfides. In some cases, Sr was also adsorbed from seawater onto the sulfides following their deposition. Basalt-derived Sr and seawater Sr are also present in associated non-sulfide phases.  相似文献

Résumè Le batholite de San Ramon est constitue par un granite à gros grains ou porphyroïde, à biotite et parfois hornblende, de teinte rouge à grise. Il s'étend sur 90 km du Nord au Sud à la bordure est de la Cordillère Orientale du Pérou Central. Il recoupe des terrains carbonifères et on le retrouve en galets dans des conglomérats rouges sous-jacents aux calcaires triasico-liasiques. Son âge est précisé par une isochrone Rb/Sr en roches totales qui le fixe à 238±10 MA. Il s'agit donc d'un granite d'âge permien supérieur à trias inférieur en partie contemporain du volcanisme rhyolitique à andésitique qui accompagne le dépôt des molasses rouges Mitu post-léonardiennes et pré-ladiniennes. Avec d'autre granitoïdes tardi-hercyniens de la Cordillère Orientale, il témoigne de l'importance insuffisamment reconnue jusqu'alors du plutonisme associé à ce volcanisme »permo-triasique«.
The batholith of San Ramon is made of a coarse-grained to porphyritic granite that bears biotite and also hornblende at some places. It extends over 90 km from north to south along the eastern boundary of the Eastern Cordillera of Central Peru. It intrudes Carboniferous and Lower Permian strata and is included as cobbles into the red conglomerates that underlie Triassic to Liassic carbonates. A Rb/Sr whole-rock isochron gives a Late Permian to Early Triassic age of 238±10 m. y. Thus the San Ramon granite appears to be in part coeval with the andesite to rhyolitic volcanism associated to the red Mitu molasses, that as a whole were deposited after the Late Leonardian and before the Lower Ladinian. Some other radiometric ages from the Eastern Cordillera granitoïds stress the extension of this Late Variscan plutonism.

Zusammenfassung Der Batholit von San Ramon besteht aus einem grobkörnigen bis porphyrartigen Granit mit Biotiten und bisweilen Hornblenden von rötlicher bis grauer Farbe. Er erstreckt sich über 90 km in N—S-Richtung längs dem Ostrand der östlichen Cordillere von Zentralperu. Er durchschneidet Karbon- und Permablagerungen und findet sich in Gerollen des triadisch-liassische Kalke unterlagernden Konglomerats. Aus der Rb/Sr-Gesamtisochrone ergibt sich ein Alter von 238±10 M. J. Es handelt sich also um einen Granit aus dem Grenzbereich Perm—Trias, der zum Teil gleichaltrig mit dem rhyolitischen bis andesitischen Vulkanismus ist, der die Ablagerung der postleonardischen und praeladinischen roten Molasse Mitubegleitet. Im Verein mit anderen spätvariszischen Granitoïden weist er auf die bisher ungenügend erkannte Bedeutung des diesen permo-triadischen Vulkanismus begleitenden Plutonismus hin.

Resumen El batolito de San Ramón esta localizado a lo largo del limite este de la Cordillera Oriental en el Perú Central. Esta compuesto por un granito de grano grueso que puede tambien ser porfiroide, contiene biotita y tambien hornablenda y su color varia de rojo a gris. Dicho granito intruye terrenos carboniferos y eo-pérmicos y se le encuentra formando parte de los cantos en los conglomerados rojos infrayacentes a la serie carbonatada triásico-liásica. Una isocrona Rb/Sr en rocas totales le da una edad de 238±10 m. y. es decir del Permico terminal o de la base del Triásico. Por lo tanto, el granito de San Ramón es contemporáneo con parte del volcanismo riolitico a andesítico asociado a la sedimentacion de las molasas rojas del grupo Mitu, la cual ocure entre el Leonardiano superior y el Ladiniano inferior. Junto con otros granitoïdes de la Cordillera oriental, el batolito de San Ramón demuestra la importancia del plutonismo asociado a este volcanismo »permo-triásico«.
