We conducted spectral analysis of central region of the Mare Moscoviense area on the far side of the Moon using the Hyperspectral Imager (HySI) data from the Chandrayaan-1 mission in an effort to identify and map the major lithological units present in the area. Various spectral band parameters, namely, band curvature, band tilt and band strength have been used for lithological discrimination based on the nature of the spectral profile. These band parameters essentially measure the shape, position and strength of the absorption feature near 1000 nm arising due to electronic transition of Fe2+ in crystallographic sites of major rock forming silicates. Spectral band parameters have been used for generating rock type composite image. Based on spectral studies and rock type composite image as obtained using band parameters, five major compositional units have been identified: highland basin soils, ancient mature mare, highland contaminated mare, buried unit with abundant low-Ca pyroxene (LCP), and youngest mare unit. In the present study, a multispectral approach in the form of spectral band parameters has been adopted for analysing the HySI hyperspectral data from Chandrayaan-1 mission. Present study clearly shows that the spectral band parameters obtained using selected HySI channels could efficiently be used to discriminate and delineate the major litho-units present across the central part of Mare Moscoviense and the same approach can thus be used for lithological mapping of other parts of lunar surface using HySI data.  相似文献

Fry method enables rapid estimate of finite strain from deformed aggregates such as clastic grains, fossil colonies, oolitic or pisolitic aggregates, prophyroblastic minerals or phenocrysts. It has an advantage over the other methods of finite strain analysis in its very quality of enabling rapid estimation with a reasonable degree of accuracy. Details of the software to prepare a plot using Fry method are outlined. This program has an advantage over other computer based programs on the world wide web in its aesthetic getup, small size, user friendliness and a help file.  相似文献

Zircon cathodoluminescent imaging and SHRIMP U-Pb dating were carried out for metapelitic rocks (sapphirine-bearing granulites and garnet-cordierite gneisses) from the NW of Madurai, Southern India. The cathodoluminescence images reveal the complex, inhomogeneous internal structure having irregular-shaped core and overgrowths. Zircon grains have obliterated oscillatory zoning. SHRIMP U-Pb chronological results yield ages of 550±15 Ma and 530±50 Ma as a time of metamorphic overprint, and the age of 2509±12 Ma and 2509±30 Ma corresponding to a timing of protolith formation for sapphirine-bearing granulites and garnet-cordierite gneisses respectively. Zircon ages reflect that continental crust in the NW of Madurai region resulted from the recycling of Archaean protolith of an igneous origin similar to the preserved crust in the southern part of Dharwar craton. The present SHRIMP U-Pb zircon ages are in close agreement with earlier published Nd isotopic data which suggest an extended precrustal history of their protoliths. The abraded zircon grains indicate multiple recycling and repeated metamorphism that has ultimately resulted in present day continental crust exposed in Madurai region. These SHRIMP U-Pb zircon ages from metapelitic UHT granulites are also significant to understanding the architecture of the SGT during the amalgamation of Gondwana in Neoproterozoic time.  相似文献

Precambrian iron ores of the Singhbhum-North Orissa region occur in eastern India as part of the Iron Ore Group (IOG) within the broad horse-shoe shaped synclinorium. More than 50% of Indian iron ore reserves occur in this region. Massive-hard, flaky-friable, blue dust and lateritic varieties of iron ores are the major ore types, associated with banded hematite, jasper and shales. These ores could have formed as a result of supergene enrichment through gradual but extensive removal of silica, alumina and phosphorus from banded iron formations and ferruginous shale. Attempts for optimal utilization of these resources led to various ore characterization studies using chemical analysis, ore and mineral petrography, XRD analysis, SEM and electron probe micro analysis (EPMA). The ore chemistry indicates that the massive hard ores and blue dust have high iron, low alumina and phosphorus contents. Because of high quality, these ores do not require any specialized beneficiation technique for up-gradation. However, flaky-friable, lateritised and goethitic ores are low in iron, high in alumina and phosphorus contents, requiring specific beneficiation techniques for up-gradation in quality. XRD, SEM and ore microscopic studies of massive hard ores indicate the presence of hematite and goethite, while flaky and lateritic ores show a higher concentration of goethite, kaolinite, gibbsite and hematite. EPMA studies show the presence of adsorbed phosphorous as fine dust in the hard ores. Sink and float studies reveal that most of the gangue minerals are not completely liberated in the case of goethitic and lateritic ores, even at finer fractions.  相似文献

This study considers landslide susceptibility mapping by means of frequency ratio and artificial neural network approaches using geographic information system (GIS) techniques as a basic analysis tool. The selected study area was that of the Panchthar district, Nepal. GIS was used for the management and manipulation of spatial data. Landslide locations were identified from field survey and aerial photographic interpretation was used for location of lineaments. Ten factors in total are related to the occurrence of landslides. Based on the same set of factors, landslide susceptibility maps were produced from frequency ratio and neural network models, and were then compared and evaluated. The weights of each factor were determined using the back-propagation training method. Landslide susceptibility maps were produced from frequency ratio and neural network models, and they were then compared by means of their checking. The landslide location data were used for checking the results with the landslide susceptibility maps. The accuracy of the landslide susceptibility maps produced by the frequency ratio and neural networks is 82.21 and 78.25%, respectively.  相似文献

Ecotourism aims to deliver the philosophy of sustainable development through environmental conservation as well as socio-economic development. Areas with rich biodiversity and scenic beauty, like the Indian Himalayan region, have been one of the major destination centers for nature lovers from historical time. In view of conserving the rich biodiversity and natural heritage of the Himalayan region 92 protected areas have been set aside, of these Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve (NDBR) is a well known world heritage site. Over a period of time establishing NDBR has invited conflicts between the local people and reserve authorities on the management approaches and utilization criteria of the natural resources, especially banning the traditional bio-resource collection rights of local community, expeditions, trekking, and other anthropogenic activities in the core zones. The present study aims to understand and analyze the various people - park conflicts, and also to suggest ways to mitigate such conflicts in view of biodiversity conservation and improvement of economic status of local people by promoting ecotourism. With this view the study further discusses the various aspects of ecotourism, its pros and cons, and the avenues of developing appropriate strategies for promotion of ecotourism in buffer zone areas of NDBR.  相似文献

The two main inherent optical properties (IOPs) namely absorption and back scattering coefficients were estimated using a quasi analytical algorithm (QAA) for open and coastal ocean waters of Arabian Sea. Absorption due to gelbstoff and back scattering due to the particulate matter were calculated using the quasi analytical algorithm for all the in-situ measured reflectance spectra collected in the Arabian Sea. A comparative study was made to study the spectral variability of reflectance spectra in open as well as coastal waters of Arabian Sea. Spectral analysis was made for the absorption and back scattering coefficients calculated using the QAA for both open and coastal waters. The absorption coefficient in the open ocean waters vary from a minimum value of 0.029 to a maximum value of 0.445 and it varies from a minimum value of 0.081 to a maximum value of 4.000 for the coastal waters of Arabian Sea. Absorption due to gelbstoff or the CDOM ag(λ), calculated for the Arabian Sea waters show a variation of 0.000202 to 0.112437 for open ocean waters and it varies from 0.002848 to 2.8936 for coastal waters of Arabian Sea. Particulate back scattering coefficient for open ocean waters vary from 0.0000307 to 0.006575 whereas bbp(λ) vary from 0.000167 to 0.026014 for coastal ocean waters. The minimum slope for the open ocean waters is 0.989 and maximum value of 2.147 (average value of 1.7) was observed; whereas a minimum value of 0.046 and a maximum value of 1.201 (average value of 0.6) were observed from the in-situ spectra for coastal waters of Veraval. The slope ‘Y’ estimated from the model is 1.957 for open ocean waters and 0.515 for coastal waters collected in the Arabian Sea.  相似文献

Extreme temperatures around flowering of wheat have the potential to reduce grain yield and at farm scale their impact can be spatially variable depending on topography. Twenty-five data loggers were installed at 0.8-m height across a 164-ha farm in the southern Mallee of Victoria, Australia to spatially record the daily course of temperatures around the average date of flowering of wheat in the region. The experiment was conducted during 2-years period. In 1 year, the farm had no crop cover and in another year the farm had a wheat crop. Multiple linear regression analysis techniques were used to fit models relating daily extreme temperatures to the farm topographic features of elevation, aspect and slope, and the average maximum and minimum temperatures of each day at the farm in order to identify areas of high risk of extreme temperatures around the time of the flowering of wheat. The fitted regression models explained 90% and 97% of the variability in maximum and minimum temperatures, respectively, when the farm had no crop cover and 80% and 94% of the variability in maximum and minimum temperatures, respectively, when the farm had a wheat crop cover. When the farm had no crop, only minimum temperature was partially explained by the topography however, both maximum and minimum temperatures were partially explained by the topography when the farm had a wheat crop. From this study it was concluded that, (1) high temperature variations were found across the farm (2) temperature variations were only partially explained from the developed model presumably due to the flatter topography of the farm and (3) the relationships obtained from this study could be used in a crop model which can explain variation in grain yield based on the topography of a field.  相似文献

Altitude profiles of aerosol black carbon (BC) in the atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) over a tropical coastal station, Trivandrum have been examined on two days using an aethalometer attached to a tethered balloon. One of these days (15th January, 2010) coincided with a (annular) solar eclipse, the longest of this century at this location, commenced at 11:05 local time and ended by 15:05, lasting for 7 min and 15 s (from 13:10:42), with its maximum contact occurring at ~ 13:14 IST with ~ 92% annularity, thereby providing an opportunity to understand the eclipse induced perturbations. Concurrent measurements of the ABL parameters such as air temperature, relative humidity and pressure were also made on these days to describe the response of the ABL to the eclipse. BC profiles, in general, depicted similar features up to an altitude of ~ 200 m on the eclipse day and control day, above which it differed conspicuously with profiles on eclipse day showing increasingly lower concentration as we moved to higher altitudes. Examination of the meteorological profiles showed that the altitude of maximum convection rapidly fell down during the eclipse period compared to that on control day indicating a rather shallow convection on eclipse day. Comparison of diurnal variations of BC at the surface level showed that the rate of decrease in BC during daytime on the eclipse day was smaller than that on the control day due to the reduced convection, shallow ABL and consequent reduction in the ventilation coefficient. Moreover the time of the nocturnal increase has advanced by ~ 1:30 h on the eclipse day, occurred at around 19:30 IST in contrast to all the other days of January 2010, where this increase usually occur well after 20:30 IST, with a mean value of 21:00 IST. This is attributed to the weak sea-breeze penetration during the eclipse day, which led to an early onset of the land breeze.  相似文献
