The self-gravitating instability of an infinitely extending axisymmetric cylinder of viscoelastic medium permeated with non uniform magnetic field and rotation is studied for both the strongly coupled plasma (SCP) and weakly coupled plasma (WCP). The non uniform magnetic field and rotation are considered to act along the axial direction of the cylinder. The normal mode method of perturbations is applied to obtain the dispersion relation. The condition for the onset of gravitational instability has been derived from the dispersion relation under both strongly and weakly coupling limits. It is found that the Jeans criterion for gravitational collapse gets modified due to the presence of shear and bulk viscosities for the SCP, however, the magnetic field and rotation whether uniform or non uniform has no effect on the Jeans criterion of an infinitely extending axisymmetric cylinder of a self-gravitating viscoelastic medium. 相似文献

The classical Rayleigh problem has been extended to the case of the hydromagnetic free-convective flow of an electrically-conducting and incompressible viscous fluid past an infinite vertical naturally permeable wall in a rotating system. The applied transverse magnetic field is fixed with the moving wall and the magnetic Reynolds number of the flow is taken small so that the induced magnetic field can be neglected in comparison to the applied magnetic field. The permeable wall starts moving from rest in the still fluid and thus arises an initial value problem whose solution has been obtained by the Laplace transform method for two important cases impulsive as well as accelerated start of the plate. Mathematical expression for skin friction components have been also obtained in a closed form. Asymptotic behaviour of the solution is analysed for both the cases, and some interesting particular cases have also been encountered. The four-current is either zero or space-like. The model has expanding and shearing but non-rotating fluid flow which is also geodetic. We present a detailed thermal and structural analysis of a 2 m class solar telescope mirror which is subjected to a varying heat load at an observatory site. A 3-dimensional heat transfer model of the mirror takes into account the heating caused by a smooth and gradual increase of the solar flux during the day-time observations and cooling resulting from the exponentially decaying ambient temperature at night. The thermal and structural response of two competing materials for optical telescopes, namely Silicon Carbide – best known for excellent heat conductivity and Zerodur – preferred for its extremely low coefficient of thermal expansion, is investigated in detail.
