A statistical oil spill response model is developed and validated by means of actual oil slick observations reported during the Prestige accident and trajectories of drifter buoys. The model is based on the analysis of a database of hypothetical oil spill scenarios simulated by means of a Lagrangian transport model. To carry out the simulations, a re-analysis database consisting of 44-year hindcast dataset of wind and waves and climatologic daily mean surface currents is used. The number of scenarios required to obtain statistically reliable results is investigated, finding that 200 scenarios provide an optimal balance between the accuracy of the results and the computational effort. The reliability of the model was analyzed by comparing the actual data with the numerical results. The agreement found between actual and numerical data shows that the developed statistical oil spill model is a valuable tool to support spill response planning. 相似文献

Seismic-reflection data show that most deepwater (>200 m water depth) basins are filled by sand and mud dispersed across clinoformal geometries characterized by gently dipping topsets, steeper foresets and gently dipping bottomsets. However, the entire geometry of these ubiquitous clinoforms is not always recognized in outcrops. Sometimes the infill is erroneously interpreted as “layer cake” or “ramp” stratigraphy because the topset-foreset-bottomset clinoforms are not well exposed. Regional 2-D seismic lines show clinoforms in the Lower to Middle Jurassic Challaco, Lajas, and Los Molles formations in S. Neuquén Basin in Argentina. Time equivalent shelf, slope and basin-floor segments of clinoforms are exposed, and can be walked out in hundreds of metres thick and kilometres-wide outcrops. The studied margin-scale clinoforms are not representing a continental-margin but a deepwater shelf margin that built out in a back-arc basin. Lajas-Los Molles clinoforms have been outcrop-mapped by tracing mudstones interpreted as flooding surfaces on the shelf and abandonment surfaces (low sedimentation rate) in the deepwater basin. The downslope and lateral facies variability in the outcrops is also consistent with a clinoform interpretation. The Lajas topset (shelf) is dominated by fluvial and tidal deposits. The shelf-edge rollover zone is occasionally occupied by a 40–50-m-thick coarse-grained shelf-edge delta, sometimes incising into the underlying slope mudstones, producing oblique clinoforms expressing toplap erosion on seismic. A muddy transgressive phase capping the shelf-edge deltas contains tidal sandbodies. Shelf-edge deltas transition downslope into turbidite- and debris flow-filled channels that penetrate down the mud-prone Los Molles slope. At the base-of-slope, some 300m below the shelf edge, there are basin-floor fan deposits (>200 m thick) composed of sandy submarine-fan lobes separated by muddy abandonment intervals. The large-scale outcrop correlation between topset–foreset–bottomset allows facies and depositional interpretation and sets outcrop criteria recognition for each clinoform segment. 相似文献

We investigate the physical conditions of the material around massive protostars by modelling the so-called hot molecular cores. We present a model for the spectral energy distribution (SED) as well as the ammonia line emission of the G31.41+0.31 hot core. We find that the best fit to the SED is achieved by assuming a density distribution corresponding to the collapse of a magnetized logatropic sphere. On the other hand, the line emission is reproduced by adopting a gas phase ammonia abundance increasing towards the center of the core, as a result of the release of the ammonia molecules trapped in ice grain mantles. 相似文献

This work focuses on the exploitation of very high-resolution (VHR) satellite imagery coupled with multi-criteria analysis (MCA) to produce flood hazard maps. The methodology was tested over a portion of the Yialias river watershed basin (Nicosia, Cyprus). The MCA methodology was performed selecting five flood-conditioning factors: slope, distance to channels, drainage texture, geology and land cover. Among MCA methods, the analytic hierarchy process technique was chosen to derive the weight of each criterion in the computation of the flood hazard index (FHI). The required information layers were obtained by processing a VHR GeoEye-1 image and a digital elevation model. The satellite image was classified using an object-based technique to extract land use/cover data, while GIS geoprocessing of the DEM provided slope, stream network and drainage texture data. Using the FHI, the study area was finally classified into seven hazard categories ranging from very low to very high in order to generate an easily readable map. The hazard seems to be severe, in particular, in some urban areas, where extensive anthropogenic interventions can be observed. This work confirms the benefits of using remote sensing data coupled with MCA approach to provide fast and cost-effective information concerning the hazard assessment, especially when reliable data are not available. 相似文献

SST variability on seasonal to sub-annual scales in the coastal region of South America between 30° and 39°S, largely influenced by the Rio de la Plata estuary’s plume, and its relation to wind variability are explored. Data are six years of daily ensembles of gridded satellite SST and sea surface winds with spatial resolutions of about 11 and 25 km, respectively. Observations from oceanographic cruises are used to validate the results. It is found that the seasonal cycle can be explained in terms of two modes. The first one, characterizing fall-early winter/spring-early summer, is related to the radiative cycle. The second one, corresponding to late summer and winter, displays warm/cold anomalies along the Uruguayan coast forced by the prevailing winds during those seasons. In the upper estuary and the northern part of the area of influence of the freshwater plume, variability in sub-annual scales is significant. A large portion of this variance is related to zonal wind anomalies that force warm/cold SSTs along that coast. Cold anomalies of up to −5 °C occur under anomalously intense easterly winds, indicating upwelling. These events are very frequent and show large persistence, occurring up to one and a half months. They also display a marked seasonal cycle – being more frequent in late spring and summer – large inter-annual variability and seem to be modulated by the continental runoff. When discharge is low, the freshwater plume retracts to the west, reducing the inner-shelf stratification and increasing the likelihood of a full upwelling to the surface. In winter, short time-scale SST variability is mostly due to variability in the atmospheric cold fronts crossing the region. Weaker or less frequent (stronger or more frequent) fronts produce a generalized warming (cooling) over the region. As the estuary heats (colds) faster than the shelf, a warm (cold) anomaly develops in the upper Río de la Plata. 及时获取有效的土地覆盖信息是地球系统模拟的基础。因此,中等空间分辨率传感器如MODIS或MERIS空前的通道设置与观测能力,使其具有快速更新土地覆盖图的能力。本文说明了如何结合MERIS的空间维(像元大小为300m)、光谱维(可见光与近红外范围内15个通道)和时间维(重返周期2—3d),用于获取不同区域土地覆被组分的亚像元级组成权重。利用4月、7月和8月三期MERIS FR1b级数据得到荷兰主要土地覆被类型的组成权重。单一时相和多时相的数据都使用单个像元最优化的端元数进行线性光谱分解。利用一种形态偏离指数得到MERIS的空间维并用于端元的选择。应用荷兰土地利用数据库(LGN5)25m分辨率的栅格数据作为本文的参考数据。基于这种数据的高分辨率,因此可以从像元和亚像元的水平同时评价的分类精度。结果显示,结合4月和7月的影像可以获得最优的分类结果,精度约为58%。总的说来,亚像元和像元级的分类精度相似。通过几种组分类别和日期的光谱融合表明,物候状况对于数据获取时相最佳结合的选择以及正确识别土地覆盖类型的重要性。 相似文献

Archean komatiites of Goiás, central Brazil, have experienced deformation and low-grade metamorphism, but several outcrops preserve primary volcanic features. Samples from less deformed komatiites of four out of five greenstone belts (Crixás, Guarinos, Pilar de Goiás, and Santa Rita) have been investigated for their geochemical properties. Komatiites from the Crixás greenstone belt have very low Al2O3/TiO2, high CaO/Al2O3, and a hump-shaped rare earth element (REE) pattern. Those from the Guarinos and Pilar de Goiás belts have similar REE patterns, characterized by a slight enrichment in LREE coupled with almost flat HREE, but differ in their inter-incompatible element ratios. Compared with those from Pilar de Goiás and Guarinos, samples from the Santa Rita belt have fractionated REE patterns with LREE enrichment, as well as high Al2O3 contents, corresponding to Al-undepleted komatiites. Komatiites from Crixás have the lowest (La/Sm)N, (La/Yb)N, and Zr/Zr* ratios compared with their equivalents from the other belts, which suggests their source was relatively depleted in LREE and high field strength elements (HFSE), probably due to the retention of garnet in the residue. Komatiites from the Guarinos, Pilar de Goiás, and Santa Rita greenstone belts are enriched in incompatible elements, which can be attributed to either low-degree partial melting at high pressures or a source previously enriched in incompatible elements. Some of the studied komatiites belong to Al- and HREE-depleted and others to the Al- and HREE-undepleted types. The depleted komatiites probably derived by melting at depths greater than 200 km, the undepleted at less than 200 km. Therefore, the komatiites of the four belts may have been derived from either one single mantle plume with different melting depths or sources from distinct plumes. 相似文献

REE (rare-earth-element) and Th mineralization at the Rodeo de Los Molles deposit occurs within an elliptical body of hydrothermally altered rocks (fenite) located in a biotite monzogranite of the Las Chacras batholith. Ore assemblages are found as isolated patches of intergrown britholite, allanite, apatite, bastnaesite, fluorite, sphene, quartz, and aegirine-augite, as well as nodules of uranothorite and late-stage veins of calcite, fluorite, and bastnaesite. Composition-volume computations suggest that the fenite was produced by alteration of the biotite monzogranite by addition of K and Na, and loss of Ca and Sr. Petrographic evaluations indicate that microcline and plagioclase have been replaced by perthite, and biotite was converted to aggregates of clinochlore, anatase, kaolinite, and hematite. Relict biotite is characterized by lower Fe/(Fe+Mg) and Ti values with progressive alteration. Fluorine-rich phlogopite is present in mineralized areas, but textural evidence suggests that it was not produced via biotite alteration. Mass-balance constraints also show that Ca and Mg in ore zones may result from redistribution, rather than their being a result of external derivation. The 18O values of quartz (8.6–11.1) and feldspar (7.8–10.6) suggest that feldspar continued to exchange oxygen isotopes with a fluid to lower temperatures than did quartz. Feldspars equilibrated with a fluid of 18O8 at a fluid/rock ratio less than 1. The 18O values of quartz and aegirine-augite that crystallized during REE mineralization also suggest equilibration with a fluid of 18O8. The D values of biotite (-83 to-120) are relatively low for igneous rocks and are thought to have resulted from exsolution of a D-enriched magmatic vapor. The D values of both mineralized and barren fenites are consistent with equilibration with fluid of magmatic origin. Meteoric water was involved in the production of calcite and clinochlore alteration, and late-stage calcite-fluorite-bastnaesite veins. The 13C values of calcite and bastnaesite (-7.8 to-13.5%) suggest that carbon was derived by leaching of carbon from igneous and/or enclosing metamorphic rock types, and that a majority of carbon ultimately was derived from sedimentary organic meterial. 相似文献
