This paper demonstrates the utility of satellite remote sensing data in water management, and particularly, for flood monitoring and impact analysis. Satellite-derived data can provide timely geographical data from which water body extent in normal and flood regimes can be ascertained. Combined with exogenous and historical data, within a GIS, these can provide information useful for flood prevention decision making. The recent French Alsation, Camargue and Vaison la Romaine floods are taken to illustrate the utility of satellite remote sensing. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This paper deals with the effect of rainfall on the process of wind erosion of beach sands and presents results from both field and wind tunnel experiments. Although sediment transport by splash is of secondary importance on coastal dunes, splash–saltation processes can move sediments in conditions where no motion is predicted by aeolian processes. The effect of raindrop impact on the movement of soil particles by wind was measured on a sand beach plain using an acoustic sediment sampler. In general, an increase of particle movement by wind at the sensor heights was observed during rainfall. Rainfall also affected the wind erosion process during and after rain by changing the cohesive conditions of the surface. The influence of the surface moisture content on the initiation of wind erosion and on the vertical distribution of transported sand particles was studied in a wind tunnel. Moisture significantly increased threshold wind velocities for the initiation of sediment transport and modified vertical sediment profiles.  相似文献

Studies of Quaternary extensional faults indicate that they have instantaneous amounts of throw (0·4 to 4 m), average slip rates (0·05 to 2·8 m kyr−1) and frequency of recurrence (<40 000 years) accounting for the accommodation space required for the accumulation of peritidal carbonate parasequences (PCPs). Hangingwall sites and graben are characterized by fault down-dropping together with regional subsidence, and footwall sites and horsts by fault-related uplift alternating with periods of regional subsidence. The relative sea-level curves generated by these processes operating in a maritime rift setting are used as inputs to a forward stratigraphic modelling program SedTec2000 to simulate how fault-related changes in accommodation space can account for high-frequency PCP formation. Each instantaneous fault slip generates a flooding surface or aggradation in hangingwall and graben settings. High-frequency cycles in hangingwall sites are either symmetric (deepening then shallowing upward) or asymmetric (shallowing-upward). The major factor controlling cycle types is the balance between rates of carbonate accumulation and generation of accomodation space. High-frequency cycles in footwall sites and horsts comprise shallow subtidal facies, with no distinctive bathymetric trends, capped by erosional boundaries generated by footwall uplift. The modelled cycles are of the same thickness, with bathymetric trends and frequency to cycles commonly interpreted to be due to orbitally driven eustatic sea-level changes or autocyclic processes. These numerical experiments demonstrate that high-frequency PCPs can be generated by tectonic, fault-related processes, a hypothesis that is frequently discounted.  相似文献

地中海位于非洲季风气候和欧洲温带气候的交界处,同时接受周边地区岩石性质和风化状况差异极大的碎屑物质,所以是研究地球表层水文循环的理想区域。前人的认识集中于撒哈拉风尘和尼罗河输入,往往忽视了其他的陆源碎屑沉积,尤其对不同水文气候条件下的潜在变化缺乏考虑。针对形成于全新世非洲湿润期的腐泥层S1页岩沉积,并结合采自岩心顶部的晚全新世/现代沉积物,文章从18个站位选取了30个样品开展碎屑组分的地球化学分析,通过在具有不同干湿环境背景的时间片段上开展盆地尺度的对比(约9.5~8.9 ka vs. 约1.7~0 ka),探讨全新世东地中海的陆源碎屑输入模式。Ti/Al、Zr/Al、Ca/Al、Y/Al都清晰显示了经向和纬向上的梯度变化,可用作撒哈拉风尘的可靠指标;这些碎屑元素之间的差异反映了北非风尘来源和传送路径的变化。这些风尘指标在南-北向上的一致变化指示了副热带高压与西风带的交互界限为36°N,该界限在全新世应稳定存在。与风尘相反,河流输入的指标值在早全新世时显著高于现代,并呈现不同的地理分布。K/Al具有西高东低、北高南低的分布特征,指示了地中海北部沿岸地区的河流输入。根据与Ti/Al、K/Al的差异,利用(Cr+Ni)/Al可较好地识别被增强的季风降雨所激活的北非古河流沉积。河流输入在早全新世时显著上升,但不同河流系统的影响范围差异很大,受制于源区水文气候、表层洋流搬运等因素。  相似文献

On the crystallinity of illite in diagenesis and anchimetamorphism A simple method to estimate the degree of “crystallinity” of illite has been used for several years in three French laboratories. Many results, which are unpublished, were obtained; three examples are presented in this paper. They show the sensibility of the method, which allows one to appreciate, above all other methods, burial diagenesis, the front of metamorphism, or some regional areas of very weak metamorphism.  相似文献

基于1958~2002年ECMWF再分析资料,我国160个台站降水和气温资料,从夏季高原季风环流系统特点出发,定义了能较好表征高原夏季风环流变化的特征指数,分析了高原夏季风年际、年代际变化特征,并揭示了高原夏季风强弱异常时的环流特征及其与中国夏季降水和气温的关系,主要结论为:(1)用6~8月600hPa(27.5~30°N,80~100°E)范围内平均的西风分量距平与(35~37.5°N,80~100°E)范围内平均的东风分量距平差定义了高原夏季风指数(PM I)。该指数计算简单,意义清楚,代表性好。(2)1958~2002年高原夏季风整体呈增强趋势,在20世纪60年代中期之前是高原夏季风的强盛期,之后是高原夏季风弱期,在80年代以后又转为季风强期。(3)高原夏季风与中国夏季降水和气温相关很好。将该指数与之前汤懋苍定义的指数进行性能综合比较后,发现该指数对川渝地区的夏季降水及气温有更好的指示意义。  相似文献

利用1979—2006年NCEP/NCAR再分析资料计算垂直积分的整层水汽输送通量及水汽通量散度,分析西藏高原汛期5—9月水汽输送特征。结果表明:两藏高原汛期主要有两条水汽输送带,印度季风输送带和中纬度西风输送带;印度季风对汛期水汽输送起着决定性的作用,决定高原汛期开始时间和雨带的推进,水汽通量向北输送达到30 kg·m~(-1)·s~(-1)时,该经度上的测站将从南到北逐渐进入汛期;在水汽的空间分布上,高原南部边缘的3个水汽输送散度场中心恰好对应着高原的水汽输送通道,其形成与西藏高原的地形直接相关;西藏高原汛期降水主要可以分为3种雨型:全区型、东西型和南北型,并分别对应着不同的水汽输送异常:全区型时索马里越赤道急流水汽输送异常较强,高原区为水汽辐合区;东西型时西藏东南部为东北向输送异常,东南部水汽供应较常年偏弱;南北型时东南部水汽输送充足而错那以西地区水汽输送不足。  相似文献

In migration procedures, the velocity profile of the subsurface is the most important input information. Since, in general, this information is only approximately known, errors in the migration output due to errors in the velocity input occur in all practical applications. In migration, velocity errors and depth errors can be interchanged. This interchange property is perfect in the paraxial approximation. From this result it follows that migration with incorrect velocities may still yield correctly migrated data if the imaging principle is modified. This attractive property can be used in the stripping version of migration (recursive migration).  相似文献
