Summary This paper presents an analysis of ventilation shock losses using the two-dimensional finite element method. It outlines the finite element formulation, in which the ventilation air flow is assumed to be a steady-state, viscous, incompressible and fully developed turbulent flow. In addition, the modified version of Van Driest model is assumed for the effective kinematic viscosity.The shock losses were estimated for the case simulating the airway configuration for (a) split, (b) junction and (c) gradual contraction. The results are compared and discussed with the shock loss data available in the ventilation literature. To estimate the shock losses, the flow solution in terms of pressure was first obtained for each airway configuration using the finite element method. The solution was then compared with that of a straight airway for estimating the difference in the head losses. 相似文献

We present a series of optical spectroscopic andnear-infrared photometric observations of the Be star X Persei, from thebeginning of the recent emission phase. Our data show that after the latestextended low state (ELS), both the equivalent width (EW) of theH emission line and the JHK luminosities gradually increased. Therecent maximum H EW and JHK magnitudes are more than butcomparable to the 1986–1989 maxima, which reflects a more extensiveand denser envelope in the new emission phase.The IR photometry and the H EW increase coincidently in theearly stage of the new emission phase. However, the variations in thefollowing years, especially in 1994 and 1995, are much different from theearly trend. An unusual variation that while the H EW in X Perincreases considerably, the JHK magnitudes decline rapidly is seen in ournearly simultaneous spectroscopic and near-infrared observations.An expanding ring model is put forward to interpret the observedunusual variation between the H EW and near-IR luminosity duringthe recent emission phase of X Persei. Our results indicate that althoughboth infrared excess and H emission line arise from the envelope,their main contributors, in some cases, are likely to originate in thedifferent part of the envelope. 相似文献

Climate data from 339 meteorological stations collected from the 1950s to the early 2000s was employed to discuss aeolian activity in arid and semiarid northern China. The results show that at decadal time scales, erosivity varied greatly in this region. Most of arid and semiarid northern China was characterised by environments with moderate to low wind energy. After the 1980s, the erosivity was only 20 to 50% of that beforehand, and this difference had a significant impact on the environmental changes observed during the two periods. The dune mobility index was consistent with the observed dune activity. After the 1980s dune activity decreased and in some deserts with vegetated dune systems during the 1970s most of the dune plinths were active until the 1980s, after which only the crests were active. Some mobile dunes that had developed at the margins of mobile deserts were replaced by semi-anchored or anchored dunes. Because most desert areas with vegetated dune systems in arid and semiarid northern China are used for farming or grazing, the results of our monitoring show that the desertification trends were consistent with the trends in erosivity and dune activity in this region. Desertification was controlled much more by climatic changes than has previously been acknowledged, and especially by fluctuations in wind energy. 相似文献

The Daba Mountains define the southern margin of the East Qinling orogenic belt, and form the boundary of the Sichuan basin
in the north and northeast. The Daba Mountains can be divided into two structural belts by the NW-striking Chengkou fault,
namely the northern Dabashan thrust-nappe belt and the southern Dabashan foreland fold-and-thrust belt. The southern Dabashan
fold-and-thrust belt is a southwestward extruding thin-skinned thrust wedge, showing obvious belted change in deformation
style and deformation intensity along the dip direction, and can be divided further into three sub-belts, i.e. the imbricate
thrust sub-belt characterized by imbricate stepped-thrust sheets, the thrust-fold sub-belt characterized by the combination
of the equally-developed thrusts and related folds, and the detachment-fold sub-belt characterized by box folds and closed
overturned-isoclinal folds on the outcrops. Several kinds of structures have been recognized or inferred, including imbricate
thrust system, passive-roof duplex (triangle zone), fault-related folds, back-thrust system and pop-up structure. The NE-SW
compressive stress from the Qinling orogenic belt and detachment layers in the covering strata are the two most important
determinants of deformation style. After the collision between the North China block and Yangtze block at the end of the Middle
Triassic, the northward intracontinental subduction along the southern edge of the Qinling orogenic belt was initiated, which
led to the corresponding southward thrusting in the upper crust. The thrusting propagated towards the foreland through the
Jurassic and extended to the southernmost part of the southern Daba Mountains around the end of the Early Cretaceous, with
thrusting deformation to be preferentially developed along major detachment layers and progressing upwards from the Lower
Sinian through the Lower Cambrian and Silurian to Middle-Lower Triassic.

Condensation heating of the Asian summer monsoon and the subtropical anticyclone in the Eastern Hemisphere 总被引:27,自引:0,他引:27
The effects of condensation heating on the formation of the subtropical anticyclone in the Eastern Hemisphere (EH) are studied
by means of theoretical analysis and numerical simulation. The complete vorticity equation is employed for the analysis. It
is found that, due to the vertical gradient of strong condensation heating, the distribution of cyclone and anticyclone in
the upper troposphere is out of phase with that in the middle and lower troposphere. This is confirmed by a series of numerical
experiments. The horizontal gradient of the condensation heating also affects the configuration of the subtropical anticyclone.
It is concluded that condensation heating is a key factor for the formation and location of the summer subtropical anticyclone
in the EH. The latent heating released by the Asian monsoon rainfall contributes to the formation of the 200 hPa South Asian
anticyclone on the western side of the heating center and the 500 hPa western Pacific subtropical anticyclone on the eastern
side of the center. Such configurations are modified to some extent by surface sensible heating and orography. The circulation
in mid-latitudes is also affected by the latent heating in the subtropical area through the propagation of Rossby waves.
