An ocean acoustic tomography system covering the region of 800×1000 km with the spatial resolution of eddy-resolving scales has been designed on the basis of computer experiments using the hydrographic data collected in the Sea of Japan. The optimum number of acoustic sources required for 20 acoustic receivers was estimated as 13 by changing the source number. The spatial resolution for the optimum system was 41 km smaller than the dominant size of meso-scale eddies in the Sea of Japan. The effect of travel-time errors on tomographic maps is also quantified. 相似文献

Eight sets of coastal acoustic tomography (CAT) systems were deployed during November 29 to December 10, 2002 at the coasts on both sides of Tokyo Bay to measure tidal current structures at 15-rain interval.Sound transmission across the Tokyo Bay (between Yokohama and Chiba)was successfillly traced,even under severe interference from ship generated wakes and bubbles.Tidal current fields changing from northward to southward flow are well reconstructed by the inverse analysis of travel-time difference data for a period with the best sound transmission condition. It is suggested that the CAT is the most powerful tool to continuously map tidal current fields in the coastal seas with heavy shipping traffic and fisheries activity. 相似文献

According to some investigations (Lecar and Franklin, 1973; Franklin et al., 1989; Soper et al., 1990) asteroids cannot remain for along time between Jupiter and Saturn. But as it is well known there is a near 5:2 commensurability between Jupiter and Saturn. So there might be a possibility that asteroids between Jupiter and Saturn could be trapped in a resonant relation.In order to investigate this possibility, the changes of orbital elements of an asteroid whose initial value of semi-major axis corresponds to that of a 1:2 resonant orbit were investigated by means of a double precision Cowell method. The integration routine was kindly supplied by Dr Yoshikawa.We considered first a planar restricted problem of three bodies, Sun-Jupiter-Asteroid, then a four body problem, Sun-Jupiter-Asteroid-Saturn. When integrating the equations of motion, short periodic terms were not eliminated and in the second test the interactions between Jupiter and Saturn were retained. Whether a close approach occured or not was not investigated. In every case a

Phobos-ellipsoid models made of clay were fragmented by the impact of high-velocity projectiles to examine the idea proposed by P. Thomas, J. Veverka, and T. Duxbury ((1978) Nature273, 282–284) that the grooves on Phobos are the manifestation of fractures produced by the Stickney-forming impact. The fracture lines on the models consist of two sets. One is concentric around the impact site and along E lines, which are defined as the intersecting lines of the ellipsoid surface and a set of spherical surfaces with the center of the spheres at the impact site. The other runs radially from the impact site and along P lines, which are defined as the lines crossing E lines perpendicularly on the ellipsoid surface. Some patterns of the grooves originating radially from the crater Stickney on Phobos are very similar to the P lines. The gridded topography, hummocky groove sections, and smooth topography on Phobos could have been formed by the fracture or associated surface disturbances due to the wave induced by the Stickney-forming impact, because they are distributed along the E lines surrounding the converging point of the P lines. All the models except one showed that the density of the fractures east of the impact site is greater than that of those to the west. Fracture patterns similar to one of the most prominent groove sets, which converge and diminish into the region of about (270°, 0°) were not produced by the impact on the ellipsoid of uniform constituent. These grooves would have been produced by the opening of preexisting cracks by the Stickney-forming impact. Other grooves also seem to be affected by such latent cracks. 相似文献
