We report results of our optical photometric observations of ten gamma-ray loud blazers, namely: 0219+428 (3C66A), PKS 0420-014 (OA 129), S5 0716+714, 0754+100 (OI 090.4), 0827+243 (OJ248), 1652+398 (Mrk 501), 2200+420 (BL Lacertae), 2230+114 (CTA 102), 2251+158 (3C 454.3) and 2344+514. The observations were carried out in September-October, 2000 using the 70 cm optical telescope at Abstumani Observatory, Georgia. We found intra-day variations in 0420-014, S5 0716+714, BL Lacertae and CTA 102. A variation of 0.3 magnitude over a time scale of about 3 hours was observed in the R passband in BL Lacertae on JD 2451827. We did not detect any variation in 3C 66A, Mrk 501, or 3C 454.3 during our observations. Nor did we detect any clear evidence of variation in 1ES 2344+514 during our two weeks' observing run of the TeV gamma-ray source.  相似文献

Peak flux spectra of solar radio bursts in a wide frequency band have been statistically determined for different morphological types of bursts, for various ranges of magnetic field of the burst-associated sunspots and also for the bursts occurring in the central and limb region of the solar disk. Important results obtained are: (i) The generalised spectra have two peaks, one near to meter-wave and the other in the centimeter-wave region, the former peak being more pronounced than the latter; (ii) identical spectral shape is observed for the great and impulsive types and also for GRF and PBI types of bursts; (iii) the radio emission intensity is relatively higher in the central part than that in the limb part of the solar disk for frequencies 1–10 GHz, while the reverse is true for frequencies 0.245–1 GHz and 10–35 GHz; (iv) the optical depth of the absorbing layer above the source of a burst is found to be the same for meter to centimeter-wavelength bursts, implying that the radio sources in this wide band have uniform characteristics with respect to optical thickness; (v) in case of simultaneous emission in the dekameter to X-ray band, most of the decimetric bursts are seen to be very prompt and coincident with the associated flare's starting time. The interpretations of the obtained spectra give an insight into the possible generation mechanisms, pointing to the location of the source region in the solar atmosphere.  相似文献

The effect of a transverse magnetic field on unsteady free-convection flow of an electrically conducting elasto-viscous fluid (Walters liquidB') past an impulsively started infinite vertical plate is discussed. The Laplace transform technique is used to obtain the expressions for velocity and shearing stress. The influence of the various parameters, entering in the problem, on the velocity field and shearing stress is extensively discussed.  相似文献

In this paper we use the mineral magnetic data (χ and χfd) to stratigraphically correlate different loess-palaeosol profiles in Kashmir Valley. The two available thermoluminescence (TL) chronologies on the Kashmir loess profiles have been reinterpreted to identify the soil of the Last Interglacial (ca. 125 000 yr BP). We show that the mineral magnetic data correlates well with the global marine δ18O record. This correlation has revealed the well-known Milankovich periodicities of 40 ka and 20 ka in the loess-palaeosol record. On the basis of this study, we conclude that loess deposition in the Kashmir Valley started around 200 ka and not 350 ka ago as suggested by earlier workers, and that magnetic susceptibility variations provide a tool to decipher climatic changes from loess-palaeosol sequences.  相似文献

Accurate estimation of evapotranspiration is generally constrained due to lack of required hydrometeorological datasets. This study addresses the performance analysis of reference evapotranspiration (ETo) estimated from NASA/POWER, National Center for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) global reanalysis data before and after dynamical downscaling through the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model. The state-of-the-art Hamon’s and Penman-Monteith’s methods were utilized for the ETo estimation in the Northern India. The performance indices such as bias, root mean square error (RMSE), and correlation (r) were calculated, which showed the values 0.242, 0.422, and 0.959 for NCEP data (without downscaling) and 0.230, 0.402, and 0.969 for the downscaled data respectively. The results indicated that after WRF downscaling, there was some marginal improvement found in the ETo as compared to the without downscaling datasets. However, a better performance was found in the case of NASA/POWER datasets with bias, RMSE, and correlation values of 0.154, 0.348, and 0.960 respectively. In overall, the results indicated that the NASA/POWER and WRF downscaled data can be used for ETo estimation, especially in the ungauged areas. However, NASA/POWER is recommended as the ETo calculations are less computationally expensive and easily available than performing WRF simulations.  相似文献

Magnetotelluric studies over the Bundelkhand craton indicates a high resistivity sub-structure, typically observed in the Archean-Proterozoic regions. The geoelectric section shows a single high resistivity layer in the northern part of the craton, extending from surface to a depth of about 60 km and a three layered resistivity structure overlying a conductive bottom in its southern part. The geological studies reported earlier have delineated an EW trending zone of ultramafic rocks, called the Bundelkhand tectonic zone (BTZ), which marks the divide between the two electrical resistivity patterns. The geoelectric structure is broadly indicative of a northward dipping tectonic fabric in this region which conforms to the Himalayan subduction, to the immediate north of this craton. However this observation cannot explain the findings from geochemical, isotope analysis and geological studies, suggesting possible vertical block movements in the region, which are also indicated in the Bouguer gravity studies. The geoelectric structure beneath the Vindhyan group to the south shows low resistivities even up to 60 km, suggesting that the Bundelkhand craton which is characterized by high resistivity rocks, does not extend to the south beneath the Vindhyans, as was believed by the earlier researchers. A low resistivity body with an extremely high conductance of about 100,000 Siemens is delineated at the mid crustal depths beneath the exposed Bijawars south of Bundelkhand craton. The causative factors behind this low resistivity are not immediately apparent, but some possibilities are discussed here.  相似文献

A model for generating daily spatial correlated rainfall fields suitable for evaluating the impacts of climate change on water resources is presented. The model, termed Stochastic Rainfall Generating Process, is designed to incorporate two major nonstationarities: changes in the frequencies of different precipitation generating mechanisms (frontal and convective), and spatial nonstationarities caused by interactions of mesoscale atmospheric patterns with topography (orographic effects). These nonstationarities are approximated as discrete sets of the time-stationary Stochastic Rainfall Generating Process, each of which represents the different spatial patterns of rainfall (including its variation with topography) associated with different atmospheric circulation patterns and times of the year (seasons). Each discrete Stochastic Rainfall Generating Process generates daily correlated rainfall fields as the product of two random fields. First, the amount of rainfall is generated by a transformed Gaussian process applying sequential Gaussian simulation. Second, the delimitation of rain and no-rain areas (intermittence process) is defined by a binary random function simulated by sequential indicator simulations. To explore its applicability, the model is tested in the Upper Guadiana Basin in Spain. The result suggests that the model provides accurate reproduction of the major spatiotemporal features of rainfall needed for hydrological modeling and water resource evaluations. The results were significantly improved by incorporating spatial drift related to orographic precipitation into the model.  相似文献

Modeling resistivity profiles, especially from hard rock areas, is of specific relevance for groundwater exploration. A method based on Bayesian neural network (BNN) theory using a Hybrid Monte Carlo (HMC) simulation scheme is applied to model and interpret direct current vertical electrical sounding measurements from 28 locations around the Malvan region, in the Sindhudurg district, southwest India. The modeling procedure revolves around optimizing the objective function using the HMC based sampling technique which is followed by updating each trajectory by integrating the Hamiltonian differential equations via a second order leapfrog discretization scheme. The inversion results suggest a high resistivity structure in the north-western part of the area, which correlates well with the presence of laterites. In the south-western part, a very high conductive zone is observed near the coast indicating an extensive influence of saltwater intrusion. Our results also show that the effect of intrusion of saline water diminishes from the south-western part to the north-eastern part of the region. Two dimensional modeling of four resistivity profiles shows that the groundwater flow is partly controlled by existing lineaments, fractures, and major joints. Groundwater occurs at a weathered/semi-weathered layer of laterite/clayey sand and the interface of overburden and crystalline basement. The presence of conduits is identified at a depth between 10 and 15 m along the Dhamapur–Kudal and Parule–Oros profiles, which seems to be potential zone for groundwater exploration. The NW–SE trending major lineaments and its criss-cross sections are indentified from the apparent and true resistivity surface map. The pseudo-section at different depths in the western part of the area, near Parule, shows extensive influence of saltwater intrusion and its impact reaching up to a depth of 50 m from the surface along the coastal area. Further, the deduced true electrical resistivity section against depth correlates well with available borehole lithology in the area. Present analyses suggest that HMC-based BNN method is robust for modeling resistivity data especially in hard rock terrains. These results are useful for interpreting fractures, major joints, and lineaments and crystalline basement rock and also for constraining the higher dimensional models.  相似文献

Size distribution of PM10 mass aerosols and its ionic characteristics were studied for 2 years from January 2006 to December 2007 at central Delhi by employing an 8-stage Andersen Cascade Impactor sampler. The mass of fine (PM2.5) and coarse (PM10?2.5) mode particles were integrated from particle mass determined in different stages. Average concentrations of mass PM10 and PM2.5 were observed to be 306 ± 182 and 136 ± 84 μg m?3, respectively, which are far in excess of annual averages stipulated by the Indian National Ambient Air Quality Standards (PM10: 60 μg m?3 and PM2.5: 40 μg m?3). The highest concentrations of PM10?2.5 (coarse) and PM2.5 (fine) were observed 505 ± 44 and 368 ± 61 μg m?3, respectively, during summer (June 2006) period, whereas the lower concentrations of PM10?2.5 (35 ± 9 μg m?3) and PM2.5 (29 ± 13 μg m?3) were observed during monsoon (September 2007). In summer, because of frequent dust storms, coarse particles are more dominant than fine particles during study period. However, during winter, the PM2.5 contribution became more pronounced as compared to summer probably due to enhanced emissions from anthropogenic activities, burning of biofuels/biomass and other human activities. A high ratio (0.58) of PM2.5/PM10 was observed during winter and low (0.24) during monsoon. A strong correlation between PM10 and PM2.5 (r 2 = 0.93) was observed, indicating that variation in PM10 mass is governed by the variation in PM2.5. Major cations (NH4 +, Na+, K+, Ca2+ and Mg2+) and anions (F?, Cl?, SO4 2? and NO3 ?) were analyzed along with pH. Average concentrations of SO4 2? and NO3 ? were observed to be 12.93 ± 0.98 and 10.33 ± 1.10 μg m?3, respectively. Significant correlation between SO4 2? and NO3 ? in PM1.0 was observed indicating the major sources of secondary aerosol which may be from thermal power plants located in the southeast and incomplete combustion by vehicular exhaust. A good correlation among secondary species (NH+, NO3 ? and SO4 2?) suggests that most of NH4 + is in the form of ammonium sulfate and ammonium nitrate in the atmosphere. During winter, the concentration of Ca2+ was also higher; it may be due to entrainment of roadside dust particles, traffic activities and low temperature. The molar ratio (1.39) between Cl? and Na+ was observed to be close to that of seawater (1.16). The presence of higher Cl? during winter is due to western disturbances and probably local emission of Cl? due to fabric bleaching activity in a number of export garment factories in the proximity of the sampling site.  相似文献
