Cave air temperature, carbon dioxide concentrations in the cave air and external air temperature were analysed at several locations in Postojna Cave over the course of six holiday periods in 2009–2011. The results show that a 1-day increase in visitor numbers from 200 to 3,500 raised the cave air temperature by a maximum of 0.5 °C. The air temperature increases are within the annual range of cave air temperature variations. A fivefold increase in visitor numbers resulted in a carbon dioxide concentration that was at least twice as high as normal. The carbon dioxide concentration increased from 450 to 1,750 ppm (December 2009–January 2010). After 10 days of peak period visits, both the CO2 concentration and the temperature returned almost to the pre-holiday values. The gradual increase in mean annual air temperature in the cave (2004–2010) is not related to the number of visitors but to outside climate conditions.  相似文献

The predicted Draconid meteor shower outburst during October 2011 had been observed by a portion of the Croatian Meteor Network whose stations encountered clear weather. A total of 95 Draconid orbits have been calculated from 18 contributing stations, and in this paper we present results for 63 orbits obtained from the fully automatic observation and processing pipeline. Two methods of trajectory estimation were applied, showing better fit results using a linearly changing velocity model versus a constant velocity model. The estimated mean radiant position has been found to be at RA = 262.6°, Dec = +55.7°, with estimated geocentric velocity Vg = 20.7 km/s.  相似文献

We present new temporal-evolution diagnostics of solar flares. The high-order statistical moments (skewness and kurtosis) of the Hα images of active regions during solar flares were computed from their initial phases up to their maxima. The same method was used for quiet active regions for tests and comparison. We found that temporal profiles of the Hα statistical moments during flares roughly correspond to those observed in soft X-rays by the GOES satellite. Maxima of the cross-correlation coefficients between the skewness and the GOES X-rays were found to be 0.82?–?0.98, and the GOES X-rays are delayed 0?–?144 seconds against the skewness. We recognized that these moments are very sensitive to pre-flare activities. Therefore we used them to determine the flare starting-time and to study the pre-flare quasi-periodic processes. We determined the periods of these pre-flare processes in an interval of 20?–?400 seconds by using special convolution filters and Fourier analysis. We propose to use this method to analyze active regions during the very early phases of solar flares, and even in real time.  相似文献

Vibrational temperatures in the atmospheres of nine M type giants of luminosity class III and subtypes M2-M8 located in the Galactic plane have been determined from the γ band system of the TiO molecule. The relationship between T exc and T eff has been established in agreement with the chosen T eff calibration scale. The deviation of T exc with recspect to T eff for our stars has been used as an indicator of the depth of the atmospheric layers in which the molecular bands are formed. On several occasions, repetitive X-ray brightenings, sometimes accompanied by mass injections into adjacent loops, appeared quasi-periodically with mean periods close to 20 minutes. In all cases when X-ray images were available, the sites of these brightenings were in active regions which were associated with large-scale coronat loops of length (2 – 3) × 105 km. Therefore, the primary source of these long-periodic pulsations might be slow-mode oscillations in these large-scale loops. Free MHD oscillations, proposed earlier by Roberts, Edwin, and Benz (1984), may fit the observed data.  相似文献

The difficulties encountered in attempts to study the spectra of very late stars inspired us to prepare this spectral atlas containing essentially spectral features of M7III stars in the optical spectral region. As representative star we took the cool component of the binary symbiotic CH Cygni during one of its quiescent phases. Total number of 920 atomic lines and molecular bands have been identified with different degrees of reliability.
