The article discusses the considerable changes in hydrometeorological conditions that occurred in the Danube River basin over the period from the late XX century to the early XXI century. Mention is made of the air and water temperature rise, softening of ice conditions, and, above all, the noticeable increase in the river water runoff. Particular attention is given to the recent extreme hydrological events in the Danube River basin: the disastrous rainfall flood that occurred in August 2002, the extremely high spring-summer floods in 2006 and 2010, and the extraordinary low-flow period in summer 2003. The meteorological reasons for these events have been analyzed. Specific features in the development and transformation of flood waves along the Danube River are discussed in detail, including the impact of the Iron Gate-1 Reservoir on these processes.  相似文献

Main features of sediment regime in the mouth area of the Hong Ha River (Red River), Vietnam, are discussed. As shown, the hydraulic engineering construction on the Da tributary resulted in a nearly two-fold decrease of river sediment yield. Sediment budget components at the river mouth were analyzed to establish that more than 90% of the sediment yield was detained in the delta branches and in the nearshore zone of the river mouth. Morphological processes in the Hong Ha River mouth area were characterized in detail including delta evolution during Holocene and the dynamics of its channel network, coastline, and mouth bars. Special attention was given to modern processes of delta progradation at the mouths of main branches and to wave erosion of other parts of the delta coastline. The causes for the intensification of this kind of erosion and change of the delta type in the late XX century are discussed.  相似文献

Hydrological and morphological features of the multiple-branched tidal delta of the Irrawaddy River are discussed. Close attention is given to the impact of the interaction of seasonal variations of the river flow and tides on the delta regime. The dynamics of wave disturbances in the ionospheric E region in the band of periods of thermal tidal waves and waves of planetary scales (T = 48, 72, and 192 h) has been studied based on the variations in the horizontal component of the geomagnetic field, observed at Paratunka and Barrow observatories in September–October 1999. It has been found that, at midlatitudes during high geomagnetic activity, the intensity of oscillations in the power spectra with T = 24 and 12 h varies with a periodicity of 16 days different from the periodicity of changes in the ΣKp index. The maximal deviations of these periods from the values under quiet conditions coincide with the maximal changes in the ΣKp index. The variations in the 48–192 h band of periods (especially with T ~192 h) intensify simultaneously with increasing geomagnetic activity. The intensity of this harmonic is several times as high as that of the harmonic with T ~ 24 h. The periodicity of changes in the harmonics intensity within the 48–192 h band coincides with the periodicity of changes in the ΣKp index. In the polar ionosphere, the effect of high geomagnetic activity is observed as an increase in the variations with a quasi-period of T ~ 24 h and as an appearance of variations in the 48–192 h band with the periodicity coinciding with the maximums in the ΣKp index variations.  相似文献

The geographical and hydrological features of the Mekong River basin and the nearshore zone of the South China Sea, which influence the hydrological regime of the Mekong River mouth, are discussed. Detailed characteristics are provided for the drainage system of the Mekong River mouth area, water flow distribution among the delta branches, processes of the delta submergence during floods, as well as propagation of tidal, surge-induced level fluctuations and seawater intrusion into the river. Regularities of the Holocene evolution of the Mekong River mouth area and recent processes of delta formation are also discussed.  相似文献

There are differences between existing models of solar EUV with < 1050 Å and between laboratory measurements of the O+ + N2 – reaction rate coefficient, both parameters being crucial for the F2-region modeling. Therefore, indirect aeronomic estimates of these parameters may be useful for qualifying the existing EUV models and the laboratory measured O+ + N2 – rate coefficient. A modified self-consistent method for daytime F2-region modeling developed by Mikhailov and Schlegel was applied to EISCAT observations (32 quiet summer and equinoctial days) to estimate the set of main aeronomic parameters. Three laboratory measured temperature dependencies for the O+ + N2 – rate coefficient were used in our calculations to find self-consistent factors both for this rate coefficient and for the solar EUV flux model from Nusinov. Independent of the rate coefficient used, the calculated values group around the temperature dependence recently measured by Hierl et al. in the 850–1400 K temperature range. Therefore, this rate coefficient may be considered as the most preferable and is recommended for aeronomic calculations. The calculated EUV flux shows a somewhat steeper dependence on solar activity than both, the Nusinov and the EUVAC models predict. In practice both EUV models may be recommended for the F2-region electron density calculations with the total EUV flux shifted by ±25% for the EUVAC and Nusinov models, correspondingly.  相似文献

The arrival directions of cosmic rays with energies above 1019 eV using data from EAS world arrays are considered. The problem of searching for clusters in arrival directions of the extensive air shower arrays at Yakutsk, Haverah Park, Volcano Ranch, Sydney and Akeno are examined. Four cluster directions are identified which are believed to be significant: these clusters do not lie in the direction of the Galactic Plane.  相似文献
